Crucial 1 GB DDR4 RAM? in Hardware ·
Question:
I accidentally picked up this memory module thinking it was standard DDR1. It was super cheap, so I guess I should have realized why...🙂
I popped it into my rig and nothing happened. After poking around a bit, I finally figured out it's actually some kind of server RAM.
Can anyone explain what exactly this is used for and who typically uses it?
I'm thinking about putting it on Craigslist, 🤦 MAYBE someone might actually need it, so I figured I'd get the facts straight first.

Thanks in advance
Sincerely
Can't get my subtitles to sync with the movie? in IT Support ·
If it's a newer release, my advice is to just hang tight... there's a good chance better subtitles will pop up soon. If it’s an older flick, though, I’m not so sure. Which movie are we talking about?

Well, that’s a pretty intense little saw you've got there 🙂 That would be the absolute peak of what a Pentium 4 can handle. We'll just have to make do with whatever we've got on hand...

I think I finally cracked it! Someone gave me a tip, so I wanted to pass his advice along to you all:

"the graphics card plays a part too,
if I recall correctly... DirectX needs to be working along with hardware acceleration"

I messed around with those settings and now everything is running smoothly.
Thanks everyone for the help.

I think I'll need to dig a little deeper into this. I might try testing it out with some older web browsers too, just to see what happens...

I've got this old AMD Duron running at 1.6 GHz with 1.2 GB of RAM.
It just crossed my mind... maybe an older version of Firefox or Google Chrome might actually work on this thing? I gave one version of Chrome a shot and it was a total bust, though I'm thinking if I dig up some even older versions, I might be able to make something happen...

First off, hey everyone! Just wanted to jump in here and give you a quick rundown of what's going on.

I'm fully aware that Windows XP is pretty much ancient news at this point. Honestly, totally obsolete machines probably belong in a museum, BUT there are still folks out there who just can't afford a modern setup. I also know that even on a tiny budget $167 you can usually find something decent enough to get by.
An elderly lady sent me this computer she uses strictly for browsing the web and watching YouTube—nothing else. It’s running an Intel Pentium 4 at 1.6 GHz (yeah, I know, it's basically a dinosaur). When I got it, it was already cluttered with all sorts of random software that was just slowing everything down...
It had Firefox and Google Chrome installed. She wasn't using Firefox because she said it wouldn't work, and while Chrome technically opened, it kept throwing warnings saying the version was too old to update...
So, I decided to wipe it and install a fresh copy of Windows XP, and that's where the nightmare started.
I installed Firefox, but it crashes constantly right in the middle of doing anything. Then I tried to install Google Chrome, but I can't even get the installer to run—it feels like the system is just too outdated for any modern version of Chrome to be compatible. I even tried Opera, but the installer won't even launch. Internet Explorer 6 comes with the OS, but let's be real, compared to modern browsers, it's total garbage. I tried installing IE8, but even that isn't working properly.
I'm honestly stumped. I even swapped out the hard drive and did a completely clean install of Windows, but the exact same thing keeps happening.
I even attempted to install an older version of Google Chrome, but the installer crashed immediately.

So, does anyone here have any ideas on what might be causing this or how I could fix it?

Just to clarify, the rest of the PC seems fine. Basic stuff like BS Player, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Reader all work perfectly... it's just the web browsers that are being a complete pain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... 😁
I honestly think "Letters from Iwo Jima" is way better than "Flags of Our Fathers"
it just feels more emotional, and I definitely connected with it on a deeper level than the other one...
If you cook rice with plenty of extra water and then drink that leftover liquid once it's done, it ends up having this thick, yogurt-like consistency. It’s actually really good for you because the rice contains nutrients that help soothe and repair the lining of your esophagus and stomach...
