There are plenty of slasher vibes in older movies too, but most people point to Black Christmas (1974)
as the true first one by definition...

Hey everyone, just needed a break from that massive horror thread...
I honestly think the slasher is the best subgenre out there. It really hit its peak between the late seventies and early eighties. You can't talk about it without mentioning Carpenter and his masterpiece Halloween (1978), or even Friday the 13th (1980). That’s when things started getting commercialized, which I feel eventually led to the whole genre feeling cheap or even becoming a parody once we got to the Scream sequels...

That’s why those titles from the seventies and the first half of the eighties are total gems to me, despite their flaws. Most were low-budget flicks, but they had this specific atmosphere that modern movies—no matter how high the production value—just can't seem to replicate. They lack that raw, authentic vibe from the early days...

Yeah, that’s pretty much the vibe with most 80s movies. What really bugs me is how some new garbage—doesn't matter the genre—gets a huge rating just because kids today don't have any standards and get impressed by anything. On the flip side, if it wasn't filmed in the last ten years, they usually hate it, unless it's one of those overrated movies critics love, then maybe it passes...

Back to the movie... Gotta admit, I hadn't even heard of this one until this thread popped up, and I usually don't miss out on the older, low-budget 😁, horror, sci-fi flicks.
It was definitely a blast despite a few flaws. It was 😁 Demi Moore's first big role, and she did a solid job, except for that awkward scream at the end... the audio sync was totally off there too. Also, her then-husband, rock musician Freddy Krueger, plays a guy in the gang wearing glasses. He's mostly famous for that song he wrote with 😁 Demi...
One of the gang members is played by another rock star, Cherie Currie from The Runaways (with Joan Jett).

Like I said, even with the flaws, the movie keeps you hooked. That scene with Cherie (Dan) where they pull the sheet back and that creepy little monster is right next to her... pretty chilling...

David Coverdale's ballad "Time and Again" from his solo album "Northwinds" is pure perfection. Aside from the big hits, "Blindman" and "Don't Break My Heart Again" are my absolute favorites...
Even though "Here I Go Again" is such a powerhouse, I just can't listen to it anymore. It's gotten a bit played out after hearing it over 1,000 times...
