Description: Set in a future where cities are being ravaged by radioactive fallout, massive metropolises fall under the thumb of powerful corporations that have engineered parasites designed to feed on human flesh.
By pure misfortune, one of these creatures infects a scientist named Dr. Paul Dean, though he manages to keep it dormant using injections before fleeing the lab with another parasite contained within a specialized cylindrical vessel. Once he reaches a secluded location, he begins a desperate series of experiments to successfully purge the organism from his own body. However, when local thugs ambush him and snatch the container—only for it to be opened—absolute chaos ensues. With his supply of sedative running dangerously low, Dean is forced to team up with a young woman named Patricia Welles to track down another specimen to complete his work. As the parasite inside him continues to stir, the escaped creature grows increasingly ravenous and lethal, because the larger it gets, the more insatiable its hunger for human meat becomes...

Has anyone actually sat through this yet, or was it so incredibly bad that you can at least find some dark humor in the disaster?

Oh, I remember seeing this! I caught it at a theater in San Francisco back when I was just a kid hanging out with the older crowd... honestly, that movie terrified me to my very core! Of course, it wasn't shown in 3D like they do nowadays, and looking back, some parts seem pretty hilarious. Even so, I still think it’s definitely worth a watch...

You get to see a young Demi Moore (she probably cringes thinking about this one today!)...



It’s got those classic 3D tropes where things just fly right out of the screen at you...



And a little bit of gore too...

P.S. Personally, I’ve always thought Demi was just a mediocre actress anyway, so there’s really nothing to be ashamed about.

It's purely a coincidence! I don't even run a blog, and as for Demi, whether she's hitting her stride or missing the mark, I always find it such a treat to see her pop up on my screen. 🙂

Besides, you've got Charles Band directing Parasite, which feels like it's just lost in the shuffle of those various Full Moon Productions titles—and let's be real, that studio doesn't exactly have a track record of cinematic masterpieces... though, if you dig through the director's filmography, you might stumble upon a few gems like Doll Graveyard (2005.) or even The Gingerdead Man (2005.), though that last one is an absolute riot of a joke. 🙂

Honestly, even after Parasite, I don't think she has much to brag about. I'm with the OP on this one.

In this shot, she has that same expression she has in about 99% of the frames I've ever seen her in.

That confused, "I'm trying to be sexy but actually just want a hug" look combined with the slightly parted lips.

I'd say Kristen Stewart is a fitting successor.

And don't even get me started on Striptease and Angels: Full Throttle... it's honestly hard to decide which one is the bigger disaster! But hey, I'll be the first to admit I wasn't exactly complaining about her onscreen presence... call me a caveman if you want, but I certainly wasn't looking away! 🙂

It seems to me she was actually pretty great in that movie with Michael Douglas, the one where she's working for a tech giant... Every big star needs at least one standout performance to really break through and make their mark on the industry.
