It just confuses people. Honestly, I don't care. If I feel like watching it, fine, if not, whatever... the original isn't going anywhere. Sometimes a remake is actually better than the original anyway.
brightseal3 said:There aren't many remakes out there that actually beat the original, and I definitely wouldn't argue that the remake of The Thing is any better than Carpenter's original with Kurt Russell—unless you're counting those tiny little details where they used CGI, I guess...
The Thing is actually just Carpenter's remake of the 1951 original. This one from last year is just a prequel to Carpenter's 1982 version.
Remakes are totally justified if the original was subpar. Just look at the new Batman series, Star Trek, 3:10 to Yuma, Cape Fear, Heat, Insomnia, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Ocean's Eleven, The Thing, The Last of the Mohicans, and plenty of others I won't bother listing right now... Remakes have been popping up constantly over the last fifty years. Sure, there are more of them today than ever before, but if the quality is actually good, then why not? Besides, I can sit through the same movie ten times if I love it, which is something you just can't do with a remake.
It’s all nonsense. Completely unrealistic, but 99% of the audience doesn't even notice. For me, the dumbest part is how the good guys end up with 90 out of 100 wounds right in the shoulder. Of course, they just wrap it up with one bandage. Every single car crash results in an explosion, and if someone fires a shotgun, the hood just flies off into the air. But who cares... I guess that's why they're called movies and not documentaries.
The Dark Knight- a stellar sequel to an already great movie Iron Man- a fantastic start to a new franchise Mamma Mia!- really good, provided you actually like that kind of thing Quantum of Solace- didn't disappoint, a solid follow-up Rambo- the biggest surprise... he absolutely shut everyone down, literally. Gran Torino- deserves an Oscar, the end of a legend Taken- action returns in a big way
The absolute worst movie out of nowhereBabylon A.D....
A truly excellent film. I went in with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Vincent Cassel delivers a powerhouse performance. The veteran lead is superb, and Viggo Mortensen isn't overacting; he’s incredibly convincing with such restrained acting. It’s a shame Cronenberg doesn't make movies more often. 9/10.
The Film actually surprised me. Tense plot and solid acting. Sound effects feel a bit overdone and the ending wasn't really my style, but overall... two hours of decent entertainment.
You just claimed it's the greatest war or anti-war movie ever made, and you're being boring. This film is a masterpiece; there isn't a single dull moment in the whole thing.
