Has anyone here actually been to the Mayo Clinic for an eye exam? Specifically, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what their experience was like with Dr. Mišić?
I haven't been around here all that long, so I'm honestly just curious about how this whole moderator thing works. Like, what’s the actual criteria for picking people to run this place, and what kind of crowd are we even talking about?
It’s especially frustrating when it comes to these MALE moderators overseeing threads about "American tourist destinations"—specifically looking at that one thread about Florida. I’ll never forget how one of them snapped at me so condescendingly. I had simply called him out for failing to take action or even react to a post where someone was straight-up insulting me. His excuse? "I can't see everything." Fine, I get that. But then he turns around and hits *me* with a red card, telling me, "Just because you think you see everything doesn't mean I can, and here's your red card because you're typing in all caps." Meanwhile, he gets off scot-free. His own post was edited—something was changed, but the insults were still right there—so I don't even know what it looked like before the edit. Why didn't he get a red card or have his post deleted? Instead, I’m the one getting punished just because I dared to question a "top-tier" moderator, and he felt the need to vent his frustration on me with a penalty... Is the guy who insulted me maybe buddies with the moderator? He probably thinks he's some big shot, and since I'm a woman who dared to call him out... well, naturally, the guy who harassed me faces zero consequences, while I get slapped with a red card just for using capital letters. I highly doubt he would've reacted that way if it had been a man. It feels like total double standards. Why is stuff tolerated for some people but strictly forbidden for others?
I honestly couldn't believe it. I mean, is it actually okay for a moderator to behave like that?
That's why I'm asking: what's the logic behind selecting these people? Who are they, really?
I ended up digging through his other posts, and it turns out the guy is part of some hardcore fan club, and he even has a "hooligan" tag under his username. Okay, maybe it's just a joke, but apparently, this is the person who gets to decide what's fair and square...

The truth is, they’re scrubbing stuff everywhere, and let me tell you, the standards are totally inconsistent.
It’s wild. You’ll see someone drop massive insults—usually the guy who actually started the whole fight in the first place (maybe because he’s some big shot or a buddy of the mods)—and he gets a free pass. Meanwhile, someone else gets slapped with a warning or a ban for way less serious stuff...
It works the same way with the trolls. You’ve got people constantly bashing something, driving thirty different people on a single thread absolutely insane, and they get away with it. But the second you call them out? Boom, your post is gone. Honestly, at this rate, they might as well just go ahead and keep their little monologues to themselves.
You can call someone "brain dead" or "completely incompetent" and nothing happens. But heaven forbid you actually point out the moderators and ask them to step in and handle it—suddenly, you're the one getting sanctioned just for calling them out.
At the end of the day, you’re walking on eggshells because you have no idea what’s allowed and what isn't. You don't know what's going to be nuked and what’s going to stay up. It’s frustrating because I see posts being deleted even when there isn't a single insult, while the ones full of actual vitriol just sit there untouched. They don't even bother to issue sanctions. It makes zero sense to me.
I really find myself wondering what the point of all this is. This site is supposed to be a place where you can actually share your opinion, right? If they’re going to enforce rules, then for crying out loud, apply them equally to everyone. It shouldn't be a situation where someone relentlessly harasses you until you finally snap and respond, only for the mods to swoop in and hand both of you a red card.
And of course, they always conveniently forget who actually kicked things off in the first place....
