Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
quietfox384 said:I mean, can you even handle that stuff privately?

They could just hand you a private prescription so you end up paying full price for the medicine anyway, or they’ll just send you straight to a specialist who's going to charge you a fortune too. Makes sense, right?

fadedbear92 said:Quick, everyone! Does anyone know if there's a private family medicine clinic in New York City? I'm having zero luck finding one online.

Thanks a million in advance!!!
🙏

You should check with Dr. Amerl Sakic Wednesday
She's open on Wednesday afternoons
So, I just sent an email to order my appointment at the hospital and mentioned that my referral was already sitting in the system. I also included my MBO details in the message, and honestly? I got a confirmed time slot without any of the usual hassle. For the actual lab work, I just showed up and that was it!

To get this specific medicine, I’d have to head to another country since it isn't covered by Medicare. It's not a controlled substance or anything, but you definitely still need a prescription for it.

Just have a doctor write you a private prescription.

I’ve got my referral, but I’m totally lost on which hospital or doctor I should actually pick.
Thanks in advance!

So, about two years ago, I had work done over in Brooklyn with Dr. Aljinovic in maxillofacial surgery. She actually spoke really highly of one of her colleagues in plastics—I think his last name is Vlajcic.
Also, a former coworker of mine had her procedure done at Holy Spirit, and she had nothing but great things to say about it!

Hey everyone, would someone mind taking a quick look at these test results for me?
Thanks!
Jonathan Johnson22 said:Back in December, I scheduled a follow-up appointment with my ophthalmologist. It was supposed to happen today, but they just called to tell me the doctor is out sick and we have to push it back to next week. While I had them on the line, I asked if my referral was still valid, and they told me no—apparently, they're only good for eight months, so I need a new one. Wait, isn't the rule that once you place an order, the referral stays valid for a full year?? This was an A2 referral sent over digitally by my primary care doctor. It feels a little weird to me that it expires after only eight months...

They told me my referral was still totally fine, even though the kid was scheduled way back in October at Rebro
Religion classes in school - Megathread in Students & Teens ·
For my little guy, religion class is split up—one hour right in the middle of the school day and another one at the very end.
It used to be held in the school chapel, but now there’s this idea that they should just stay in their regular classroom since nobody is allowed to head out into the halls anymore.
I’m honestly seriously considering just picking him up early so he can hang out at home, because, let's be real, I really don't want him sitting through those lessons.
The catch? The principal is also the religion teacher and is a total hardline Catholic, so I have a feeling that might cause some friction if I try to pull this move.

Just shoot an email over to Medicare on Mihanovićeva street and ask them to send you a list of where they have openings. That's exactly how they sent my mom her list for the gin.

I ended up calling 911 when it all went down because I spent about eight hours on the phone just trying to get some solid advice. While they were sending the ambulance, the dispatchers were actually giving me some tips on how to open up my airways so I wouldn't struggle so much to breathe. They really wanted me to hang out at the hospital for a day or two just to be safe, but honestly? I turned them down.
Give emergency services a call and see what they suggest

I’d definitely suggest checking out Dr. Sandra Richter.
I'm not 100% sure if she has her own solo clinic, but my grandma actually saw her over at their specialized unit.
Chloe Nguyen3 said:So, I’ve got a quick question for the group: where in the US can I get an MRI done? It doesn't really matter what for—it's just for something that's already been operated on. Any recommendations?

So, here’s the deal: my discharge papers don't mention anything about soft tissue damage at all. The surgeon hasn't said a word about it, and my private orthopedic doctor won't even bother ordering an MRI because he thinks it's totally unnecessary. But then there's the lawyer—and they're pushing hard for every single test and scan possible. Why? Because if we don't get that MRI done, we have zero chance of proving any potential soft tissue injury in court. How are you supposed to win a legal battle without the actual proof in hand, right?
I really feel like I need to get an MRI done privately, too. I need to know 100% exactly what kind of damage we're actually looking at here. Honestly, I play sports recreationally, and I’m genuinely terrified of jumping back into the game if I don't know where I stand. I have no idea what kind of "capacity" I actually have left following this surgery, you know? Some parts of my sport can be pretty explosive—it’s almost like training for a pro level—and I just don't want to risk a major injury by pushing it too hard before I'm ready. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your body?

So, I was thinking about this earlier—why is it such a massive headache just to get an MRI prescription written? It feels like such a simple request, right? You have the symptoms, you have the doctor, and you have the imaging center waiting. But somehow, it turns into this whole bureaucratic ordeal. Is it just red tape for the sake of having red tape? Or is there some deeper reason why getting that piece of paper feels like trying to win a marathon in flip-flops? Honestly, it makes you wonder why the system is set up to be so complicated when we all just want to get answers and move on with our lives. Why make it harder than it needs to be?
I’ve still got one more appointment with the surgeon in a few days, and since he's hyper-focused on that specific bone, he insists on checking it with an X-ray every single time. It’s a bit of a bummer, though—you can't exactly see any of the soft tissue on those scans, right?

I told the surgeon that I’m an active, recreational athlete, but so far, all they’ve done is "stare" at my bones. Is it just me, or does it feel like they aren't really listening to the lifestyle part of the equation?

Does anyone happen to have a direct phone number for an MRI center where you can just call, book an appointment, get the scan done, have the doctor read the results, pay the bill, and be out the door? You know, that "one-stop shop" kind of efficiency? Just looking for something super straightforward!

You're so welcome! 🤗

Mayo Clinic.
So, I was told that I can actually get an MRI done without needing a formal referral from my doctor. Isn't that wild? Have you ever run into something like that before? It honestly sounds like such a relief to have that kind of flexibility when you just want answers.
Dr. Phil mentioned that my little one needs to get an OCT, PNO, macula scan, and a consultation with Goldman Sachs. Does anyone happen to know what the typical wait time is for these tests? Also, which hospital in New York City would you guys recommend for this kind of thing?
That’s exactly why I’m asking—my doctor and my oral surgeon both have their suspicions about it.
Has anyone else here actually received an official diagnosis?
