Dr. Juratovac is great—he's currently at the Mayo Clinic, but he sees patients privately every Wednesday over at Monocle.

Has anyone here had any experience working with cardiologist Hrvoj Pintarić?

Does anyone know a good private cardiologist in NYC?

I've got kids in 1st and 5th grade, and they aren't attending (out of the first two students, two aren't going, and out of the four 5th graders, just mine is sitting this one out). Most of the families around here live near the border with Canada, and the principal is a religious studies teacher who—if you ask me—would much rather be running a private Catholic school. A lot of parents actually don't want their kids enrolled, even though they aren't particularly religious themselves, but since everyone else is doing it, I went ahead and signed my kid up too... mostly because of what people might say. You know how it is with those local busybodies; they'll complain about everything from the curriculum and the homework to the cost of First Communion and Confirmation...

Nancy Taylor42 said:Since I’ve dealt with keloids myself, I figured I’d share my experience.

The real kicker with keloids is that nobody—and I mean absolutely nobody—is going to give you any guarantees that they won't just grow right back after surgery. Not a single soul.

I’ve seen a whole bunch of surgeons, some through Medicare and others privately (I even saw this one high-end aesthetic plastic surgeon who is incredibly talented, despite being a total nightmare with his tax filings), but honestly, none of them could actually fix the issue for me.

I have this 15-20cm keloid scar on my left upper arm. And whenever I get even a slightly deep cut anywhere else on my body, a keloid pops up.

My advice? Just go see any surgeon whose main goal is to make sure you have full functionality in your finger. If you want specific expertise, I’d suggest checking out Apple just because their staff is top-tier.

Thanks!

Ideally somewhere near Brooklyn, Capitol Hill, or Santa Monica Pier... but I’m not super picky about the location.

Thanks!

So, I ended up catching tetanus, and they've got me on a cocktail of antibiotics—Augmentin and Klavocin. I already had everything cleaned up at the ER, and now I'm looking at a full month of medical leave.

Hey admins, if there’s a specific thread for this kind of thing, would you mind moving my post? Thanks!

So, here’s the deal: about two months ago, I got bitten by a dog on my right thumb.
The wound didn't heal quite the way it was supposed to, and now I've ended up with this nasty keloid. It's actually getting to the point where it's messing with how I use my thumb normally, which is super annoying. My doctor is now referring me to a plastic surgeon to get this sorted out.

Does anyone have any solid recommendations for a great surgeon or a hospital I should look into?

Thanks so much!

My kids basically live at either the local library or the study hall. My oldest (who's 5) usually flies solo while knocking out his homework, but when he's with my youngest, they've got their teacher right there with them.

Adult endocrinology—should I head to Vinogradski or the Mayo Clinic?
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
So, here's my saga: I sent an email to book an appointment back in May, but didn't hear anything until late September. Then, I reached out to Vin and they managed to squeeze me in for October. But honestly? I ended up going to Dubrava, where I actually snagged a spot by the end of August!
When I was booking things for my little one, I specifically requested a certain doctor, and they actually made it happen and scheduled him right with her.
Fingers crossed that everything works out perfectly for me!

Just call them up and ask how much an out-of-pocket exam would set you back at the hospital. Since I was worried about some itching, they checked me out over at Vinogradski, scraped off a spot of the rash, and put it under the microscope (turns out it wasn't scabies after all!). Right now, I'm thinking about heading over to Nola Clinic instead.

Does anyone know where I can get my TSH (thyroid levels) checked out super fast in the city? Like, at one of those big state labs? I’m really hoping they can squeeze me in sometime this week. Is that even possible??
Thanks!

I actually got my TSH tested over at the clinic in Newark. My doctor emailed my referral on Monday, and I was already in for the blood draw by Tuesday. Honestly, your best bet is probably just giving them a quick call to see if they have any last-minute openings!

So, I'm based out of Karlovac, and they actually told me to reach out to the Vura clinic. As for the folks over in Sisk, I haven't heard a single peep from them in over a week... Honestly, everything is just spinning in circles right now 155 miles around Chicago
Does anyone know where I can go to get an MRI or an MRA using my red insurance referral?
swiftbear86, vividsailor7 thanks
The diagnosis finally came in— thrombocytopenia. I've got bloodwork scheduled for this coming Monday, so we'll see what the actual numbers look like once that's done.
Hey there! Does anyone happen to know what the abbreviation "ly" stands for?
My little one had some blood work done because they've been running a fever between 100-102°F for three days straight, then it disappears for a week, and then—boom—the fever is back again. Looking at the results from three days ago, the platelets were around 53, then 51, and yesterday they were sitting at 55. White blood cell counts were 3.2, then 4.2/4.5, and hemoglobin was 113/109/111.
And the ly is 57/65.
Thanks!
