Is Lewis Hamilton leaving Ford? in Formula 1 ·
stormybadger8 said:So the plan might be to sit out a year or two, or just crawl back to Detroit...
Maybe that plan doesn't involve Flavio barking orders to drive straight into a wall, except this time it’s Grosjean or Maldonado—though honestly, nobody would find that particularly suspicious given those two. 🤣

All things considered, it’s not much of a plan, especially since Lauda stated that they don't want Lewis Hamilton and haven't even considered him...
Besides, a seat in Germany won't open up unless Rosberg takes the title, and even then, there's no guarantee that will actually happen...
If Hamilton takes the title, Rosberg will likely stay put because he doesn't exactly have a massive list of options to choose from...

And here's the kicker: Lewis Hamilton is the type of guy who is constantly late to make a move, arriving at teams just as they start their downward spiral.😉
He showed up to Ferrari too late and walked away with one big nothing, and the same thing could happen with Germany; they could easily start sliding downhill around 2016 or 2017 or 2018, right when he might finally snag a seat there...

Of course he won't sit out for two years; he doesn't have the luxury of time. It's not impossible for him to take a one-year break and then jump back in, though I suspect even a single year off would be a poor decision.

The fact that Lauda said that only adds fuel to the fire. It's not like Lauda is an idiot who would publicly broadcast vague negotiations, especially in the middle of a championship fight between the current two drivers. Plus, Lauda represents Mercedes, a company that cares deeply about its image and public perception.

But like Lewis Hamilton said, everything you kids see on the surface... is bullshit.

As for the choice, nobody has a crystal ball, not even Lewis Hamilton. Like any business venture or major decision, this carries the risk of making the wrong call... and that's perfectly normal.

stormybadger8 said:How much severance did Lewis Hamilton actually get when he walked away from General Motors back in late 2007?
As far as I recall, he didn't take a single cent. It’s pretty clear he isn't the type to be provoked or intimidated by any of this nonsense... we've seen it before.😉

Exactly. He essentially gave them the finger because he knew where he was headed. Sure, he had to sit tight for two years, but he knew he could walk away, and he did.

Now Lewis Hamilton is playing the same game. He's basically saying, "I'm the one who turned down Ford; I have a plan, everything is lined up, now let's see who comes out on top."

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Lewis Hamilton already has something worked out with Mercedes...

Uradiče is doing big things with Ferrari

The first major move is already done. He didn't let Ferrari become a hostage to that parasite.

As if. Lewis Hamilton is just a green kid who would let himself be baited into leaving $50 million on the table... yeah, right.

For some people, profit is definitely more important than a single life—or ten, or a hundred. It’s just numbers on a spreadsheet to them.

All this picture shows is that the visor stayed in one piece, which isn't exactly a guarantee for anything, unfortunately...

I'm sitting here listening to the BBC commentators talk about "pools of water" instead of just calling them puddles... which is exactly where these guys lost it.

We can't possibly know the exact level of filth they were driving through.

You don't get it... the crash itself isn't the issue. This is Formula 1; spinning off is practically part of the job description.

But please, let's all keep trashing Tilke and complaining about the new tracks. Who knows how many lives that man has actually saved with his designs!

work machine = excavator

wanderingbison9 said:That’s just how it is now. Any time a car goes off track and needs heavy machinery to clear it, we're looking at... SC...

It should have been this way all along, but it wasn't. And honestly, I can't tell you how many times I've watched a crash happen, the yellow flags fly, and the driver just climbs out of the cockpit to mess with the steering wheel or sit there fidgeting while the rest of the field tears past him. This kind of nonsense happens constantly. Why on earth would we increase the risk of a massive accident by sending a construction vehicle onto the track?

Williams' Felipe Massa says: "WE need to understand What Has happened with Jules. I'm very worried. I heard that he hit the truck at the end of the race.

"I was already screaming on the radio five laps before the safety car that there was too much water on the track, but they took a bit too long and it was dangerous. So we saw that there were some crashes at the end."

Massa is talking nonsense again. Too much standing water and only one driver on full wets. The real issue is that damn excavator; if that excavator hadn't been right there, Bianchi's exit would have been just like a million others before it...

Why the hell is an excavator working on the track during a race?! Those machines always rubbed me the wrong way because I constantly felt like this would happen eventually. Tracks should have cranes ready to lift cars, not random excavators driving around. If they can't manage without an excavator, then there has to be an SC on track. Period.
