Man, there are just way too many labels for no reason. Terror, harsh EBM—it’s all the same crap—and don't even get me started on hellelectro. It's all the same thing.
It all basically evolved from dark electro and industrial music, but honestly, who cares? There are so many subgenres now that trying to categorize everything is just exhausting.🙂
Personally, I've been spinning Suicide Commando for about four years now, and they're pretty well-known around here these days🙂 along with Hocico.
If you're looking for some Alien Vampire brutality—you know, if you're really in the mood for some aggressive, Satanic-vibed chaos—then check them out. xD
xD Amduscia is a textbook example of harsh EBM, or whatever you want to call it; it's modern stuff that leans heavily into a techno sound.
"Industrial" is such a massive umbrella term, spanning from the 70s all the way to today. There's actually a decent article about the whole history if you want to dive in.🙂

If anyone is into the weirder, noisier side of things, you've got Aphex Twin or Atari Teenage Riot (which is more digital hardcore), though that starts veering into hardcore techno territory and all those weird hybrids.
Without all that experimentation, we wouldn't have half the interesting genres we have today. So, there's really no point in stressing over what's "pure" and what isn't—musicians are always going to blend styles anyway.
