Doing business with USA member states in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I gave JPMorgan Chase a call to see what the deal was, and they told me that just by making this one single import from the USA, I’m officially a monthly filer
it doesn't even matter if I won't actually need that number later on

My bad, I phrased that wrong
As someone filing quarterly sales tax, how am I supposed to record imports from the USA?
Do I just offset the liability against my input tax?

So if that's how it works, I guess I'd have to become a monthly taxpayer
but what does the actual procedure look like for someone filing sales tax
and can I just offset my sales tax obligations against my other taxes?

So, what's the actual process if my company is set up as a quarterly VAT filer? Does that mean I don't even have a VAT ID?
And when I'm bringing in goods from overseas within the USA, do I handle it the same way as a company that has a standard VAT ID? Like, do the taxes and input credits just offset each other automatically?
That collision was just a racing incident, nothing more.
It’s such a shame Ferrari messed up the strategy and basically handed the win away from Sebastian Vettel.
IRS and Tax Filing Issues in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I’ve been banging my head against the wall for a few days trying to get this new digital certificate set up for the IRS portal, but nothing is working.
I’m using a Gemalto USB token, and I guess the ActivClient isn't playing nice with it, so I just went ahead and downloaded the IDEMIA credentials instead. That part actually worked—I managed to register everything with the agency.

But now I'm stuck at the login stage for the IRS site. When I tried logging in via Microsoft Explorer, the system kept prompting me to insert a smart card reader, even though my USB was plugged in right there. I reported the issue to their tech support, and they suggested I install the IRS extension for Google Chrome. So, I did that. Now, when I enter the application, select the correct certificate, and punch in my PIN, I just get hit with this message:

"Dear User, you do not have the necessary permissions to access the IRS application!"

If anyone has any advice or has dealt with this kind of nonsense before, please let me know.

Thanks.

I'm honestly worried that Ferrari just isn't fast enough, and we might be looking at another incredibly boring season

Carol Price4 said:Nah, if you don't have an acquisition setup, goods aren't actually entering California—so there's no sales tax to worry about.

And Intrastat? Doesn't apply either since the shipment never officially hit the US...

thanks for the help

now I'm stuck in this weird limbo trying to figure out how to log this in the books
I use QuickBooks, and whenever I book EU invoices for goods, I use the EU goods acquisition option, but that immediately pulls it into my sales tax and VAT reports

I assume it stays on the balance sheet under liabilities and input tax
but I just leave those specific items off the actual sales tax filing?

Carol Price4 said:If everyone involved is listed in the IRS database, then you're looking at a three-way transaction...

we're all in the IRS database
but I'm honestly not sure about the specifics here. Our trading company buys the goods, then we hire and pay a carrier to move everything to the customer
now I'm stuck wondering—am I supposed to be reporting this stuff for sales tax or on Intrastat filings?

Hey, can anyone help me out here? My company is buying goods from Germany and we're using a carrier to ship everything directly to a customer in Canada.
I’m issuing the invoice to the Canadians with the VAT exemption under Section 41 and all that stuff.
But I’m stuck on how to record the invoice for the German supplier, since the goods never actually enter the US.
I guess I don't know if I need to include this in my VAT filings or if I have to deal with Intrastat reporting?

Can someone help me out here?
We just shipped some goods over to the USA.
We're covering the shipping costs, and the carrier is based out of Canada.
They sent over an invoice without any sales tax included.
I guess I need to know—do I have to account for that tax on my end while simultaneously claiming it as a credit?

Thanks
