Running Windows XP on a SATA hard drive

Look, if you haven't quite grasped this yet...
The thing is, Windows XP just doesn't know how to talk to SATA drives unless you feed it the right drivers first.
It handles Floppy and IDE drives—you know, your old-school CDs, DVDs, hard drives, and Floppy disks—just fine, so those are usually the best spots to stash your DRIVERS.
Since we’re already down this rabbit hole, I’ll tell ya—I’ve got this 160 GB Seagate SATA drive sitting in my rig, and honestly? I never once messed around with specific SATA drivers. I didn't even bother hitting F6 during the install, and the whole thing just cruised through perfectly. Even when I swapped out the motherboard later and had to reinstall Windows, it happened all over again without asking for a single driver. It was a totally standard XP install, no Service Pack included at the time either. Now, I'm sitting here scratching my head... how is that even possible? Why does it work for me without any special drivers? 😕
