I feel terrible reading this. We’ve been saying for a while now that high school admissions should be based on an entrance exam, but unfortunately, nothing ever changes.

Honestly, I figured this whole experiment was just some pre-election stunt. But if they aren't even bothering to value parent input, then I’m really not sure what the point of any of this is.

Parents with kids in first grade basically get to choose whether to enroll them in this local school or send them to the main district school that doesn't offer the CN program.

I mean, how did the folks over in Podolia come up with this plan? They’re only including first and fifth grades in the project this year, then switching to second and sixth next year. Just makes sense, I guess. 😁

Just a guess, obviously. I've got a buddy whose kids go there, and they aren't exactly thrilled about being part of some experimental school setup—especially since the kids are already deep into their specialized coursework.

Man. I looked at that middle school schedule—it's just wall-to-wall classes, leaving maybe 45 minutes for actual study or homework. They aren't getting home until after 3 PM. Do people realize that sometimes kids need to pull several late nights to prep for an exam? Clearly not.

Look, man, if you're already a veteran in this field, why didn't you do your homework?

Don't go thinking it's about the floor plans. It's because you can't touch a dime without a building permit. The director is looking for a 25% cut.

That’s a question for the lawyers. If there's a legal requirement for parental consent to participate in an experiment, that should have been settled back when the school signed up for the study in the first place.

Honestly, what parent would actually want that kind of schedule for their seventh or eighth grader?

When exactly are they supposed to actually study all this stuff? A2 - Language isn't going to help you pass a chemistry exam, tackle a physics quiz, finish a math assignment, or handle a foreign language class. It just doesn't add up.

The B2 level consists of extracurricular activities, where language learning can be handled by partnering with a private language institute based on student interest. The elective language is only mandatory for fifth graders, and it's only included in the core curriculum at Verizon for them. I don't see how adding an hour of history or math would suddenly make a second elective language part of the core curriculum for other grades.

It’s basically just an elective designed to replace Religious Studies, plus an extra hour of English and Math. They'll offer a second language during the B2 term, but most kids will probably drop out just to get out of school earlier.

Like there won't be any issues just because they're teenagers. No kid actually wants extra classes or mandatory tutoring sessions along with their entire grade level.
