It’s hilarious watching everyone dogpile on the education system when they were asking basic general knowledge questions in the first place.

Am I supposed to have learned about the San Francisco Boardwalk in college? Did we take courses called Broadway I and Broadway II? If this study actually proves anything, it just shows what the average business student looks like. And the average profile is someone who doesn't know a damn thing, yet still has the nerve to blame the university...

It’s just my take, honestly. He’s definitely skipping over some absolute gems, and maybe the order is a bit messy, but for me, this all feels way too intense...:G

1. Crystal Castles vs. Health - Crimewave
2. Justice - Planisphere
3. Portishead – The Rip
4. MGMT - Kids (wait, was this 2008?)
5. Islands – Creeper
7. Okay – Huggable Dust
7. Foals - Tron
8. Mogwai – I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead
9. Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Rockstars
10. M83 – Skin of the Night

There are some great discussions happening on the other subforums too 😉
driftingowl27 said:Arthur Barnes, you're staying pretty consistent defending your worldview, but like Brenda Scott14 pointed out, even to me, it feels a bit inhuman... 😢

I was just explaining it that way, logically, because there's no other way to be precise, I don't know 🤷

It's not like I'm sitting here counting how many bands I listen to or figuring out how much less I have to appreciate them because of it. 🙂
Brenda Scott14 said:Uh, so we could say: All the love _spike can give equals 1.

If there’s just 1 thing, it’s worth 1/1 = 1.

If there are 1000 things, each one is worth 1/1000.

Right?

No, because they don't cancel each other out. My love for my family doesn't mess with my love for, say, you. 😍 😳

Are you trying to say bands don't interfere with each other either? I'm not so sure about that... 🙂
driftingowl27 said:Unless you’ve had some massive, sudden shift in how you actually hear music... I honestly don't get how you can think like that... 🤷

The more there is of something, the less each individual piece actually matters...

Plain old common sense: all music in the world is worth exactly one...

If there's only one band, then they're worth exactly 1/1... which is just 1.

If there are 1,000 bands out there, then each one is only worth 1/1,000...

It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you get what I'm saying... If I heard Nirvana today, I'd be like, "Hey, this is actually good," and listen to it. But I'd also have a thousand other things to choose from. Back when I first heard them, I didn't have much choice, so that's why it felt more "valuable." Plus, I was just a kid... back then, a scoop of ice cream was basically the greatest thing in the world...
wiredfalcon2 said:If the album is good, I'm gonna love it regardless of how I get my hands on it. I don't have OCD, so it doesn't matter more to me if it was harder to find...

So people with OCD value things more just because they're hard to get? Where'd you read that, a comic book?
driftingowl27 said:That’s why I said "I'll hit it"... instead of using Daydream Nation, pick an album you actually love, something that took some effort to discover...

I don't really get what you're asking.

Like, say I have Album X that I loved back in the day, and it was hard to find. Is it worth any less to me now? Not really. But it would feel like it's worth less if I hadn't discovered it then, rather than just downloading it today...

If I understood your question right 😕

edit: Kyle Jackson54's post 👍
driftingowl27 said:I don't get it... by that logic, is Daydream Nation suddenly worth less than it was back when we were kids killing ourselves just to get our hands on it? 😕

Yeah, because how much something is "worth" is totally subjective.
The more accessible something is, the less value it seems to hold, generally 🤷

And nowadays, it's easier than ever... if you don't vibe with something right away, you just download something else. Just keep scrolling until something hits. But it isn't just about how easy everything is to get... it's also about growing up. Maybe... 🙂
I had something similar happen back when I was a kid and running a high fever. Those shapes... like cubes that were bigger than your entire field of vision, almost like you could reach out and touch them. A strange sensation, but I wouldn't call it unpleasant. Your friend’s description really hit home—that feeling of traveling through a tube that's just packed tight. It isn't literal, but man, what a great way to put it.

I honestly had no clue other people experienced this too. 🙂
Yeah. They could've just brought in some sandbags or something and covered up all that muddy crap.
That kid from Vienna with all those moral lectures and spitting on Bush (with the crowd going "yeaaaaah" because apparently everyone loves hating on Bush even if they don't have a damn clue why)... System of a Down wasn't actually that bad. Listened to them on the way to the island, about a solid half hour of decent stuff before I arrived. I don't care if he tries to sell his genius theories on religion or governments to anyone else. I don't give a shit. Just play something beautiful instead...

I heard one song by The Black Eyed Peas. The crowd was pretty thin there because everyone had bolted over to see The Prodigy. From what I counted, it was mostly just lesbians grinding to those repetitive rhythms with some black backing vocals in the background. Such a disgusting scene. I hate it when people move sexually to that kind of music. I hate it as much as I hate soul, Barry White’s deep voice, or any kind of "sexy" music. Give it a rest, you aren't hot. You're boring, and that deep voice doesn't mean anything to me. Buzz off.

The Prodigy kicked things off with Eye of the Tiger, which was a great way to start. Then they got a bit buzzed, then they cranked everything up with Breathe, which was definitely the wildest part of the whole night. After that, the energy just seemed to die out, and things calmed down. Voodoo People and Smack My Bitch Up were still wild, though. Goddammit, they should've played some funky shit, Serial Thrilla, and especially Out of Space. It was seriously missing. Fuck Phoenix. They should've remade it into something like "If I were in the Civil War, they'd call me Karadžić," which might have been funny in another context if the song didn't piss me off so much. The whole thing was just pure Muddy. And now my jeans are muddy down to my knees. But you guys don't care about that, do you? All you care about is the music? Well, go shove it...

Oh, and a special tribute to the guitarist Buzz, without whom this review (and my state of mind at the festival) wouldn't even be possible. 🙏
Ethan Perez28 said:really? I was actually hoping to snag some Ethan Cook81 tickets... 😕

They were kind of a letdown for me. Just watch a few live clips on YouTube and you'll see they sound totally different from the studio albums. Some people might dig it, others will hate it. For me, it was definitely the latter. 🤷
Jesse Sanchez60 said:for me, Goteam was easily the best act at this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival...

Too bad they sound like crap live.
Anyone selling their ticket for half price? I'm dead serious ☕
Didn't buy it, and I don't plan to 👋

😲 damn it.

if it actually happens, I might even show up... 🤷

Says the guy calling people out for listening to Linkin Park. ☕

Welcome to the world of music. And all that other nonsense. 😁 He knows it's just a matter of time before he's bowing down too.

Who said anything about me caring? 🙄
