Assisted Suicide in Law ·
I was looking through the penal code and found this:

Assisted Suicide

Section 94.

Anyone who takes the life of another at their explicit and serious request shall be punished by imprisonment for one to eight years.

My God, this has to be one of the stupidest laws I've ever seen... 😲

Picture this: my neighbor Mark comes over, I record him on video and audio making it crystal clear that he wants me to kill him. He’s dead serious, totally sane. I go ahead and do it, and then I get 8 years in prison just because I respected his wishes. The wish doesn't hurt anyone else—only him—and he's fully aware and still wants it done!

What's the logic behind this law? Why does the legal system even work this way? Does any of you actually see the sense in this, because to me, it's just plain ridiculous...

It’s not undefined. It's female. 😢

It can be proven wrong.

If a male fetus doesn't even exist after 40 days (6 weeks is 42 days), then there's no way a soul could enter it. That makes the whole claim logically flawed. Just because you can't prove something is true doesn't mean you can't prove it's false... 😉

I’d love to get an expert in on this—maybe Arthur Barnes could weigh in... specifically regarding which week during pregnancy an embryo actually starts developing sex characteristics. If I remember correctly, we’re all basically the same until a certain point, and then the guys finally start developing male anatomy. Anyway, just my two cents... let's see what the pros have to say... 👍
Not gonna even mention that by next week, we’re all gonna be nursing some serious balls... 😱 😱

If I remember right, the body develops into a woman somewhere around the fourth or sixth week of pregnancy—which explains why men have nipples at all. After that point, those Y-linked genes kick in... you know, the ones responsible for massive amounts of adrenaline... or whatever the actual gene function is called... 😁They step up for expression, and then this whole chain reaction kicks in... a massive shift in gene activity that basically shuts down female development and pushes everything toward the male path...

If anyone wants more info, just ask over on PZ... 🙂

how's that working out for you? 😁

Even better.

Since you can't actually explain why my take is bad—and since your level of conversation is honestly bottom-tier with zero arguments—it’s actually true. My stance is the opposite of yours. It's actually great.

Sorry about this, I checked the index and couldn't find a thread for this... so I just opened one. Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. 😳

Got something to download Song Lyric, pretty decent for me... 👍

I mean more like that slow, deep, repetitive kind of vibe... really hypnotic, with those "muted" vocals... 🙂

Just baciti a few suggestions if you have any 😉

odyssey 2010 in Movies ·
Just watched it for the first time. 😢

My first thought after the credits rolled? "What kind of idiot actually thought making a sequel to Odyssey was a good idea?" 😢

Look, the movie is fine. The atmosphere works and all that, but man... that "profound message" at the end about Americans and Russians reconciling... I was honestly just waiting for Steven Seagal to show up, slice that monolith with a knife, and have the Russian astronaut fall into Dr. Floyd's arms in a hibernation pod 🙄
Odyssey 2010 is just... beyond human. It’s too much pressure trying to make something that carries the "Odyssey" name. If it's similar, it fails. If it's different, it fails. But on its own merits? It's alright. The mistake is trying to answer the questions. In the end, HAL wasn't even the bad guy; the monoliths create another sun 🙂, not to mention everything else.

Anyway, I'm with Yang regarding the visuals. No matter how imaginative you get, watching that travel sequence is an experience 😵 you just can't replicate with a book because of the medium's limitations. 👋

I've only ever heard that one track myself.

Just a boring, moody guy who needs to be taken out by having his own songs played on loop...

Nioba, those aren't critics, they're just idiots (you know, when your IQ is basically sub-60).

I'm here 😁

Why do people take criticism so personally? Like it’s some kind of direct attack on their soul... I call people out all the time, and if they start getting defensive, I just shut them down before they can even get a word in. It’s obvious they’ve got major issues with their confidence and self-image. Honestly, it's just one way to test someone's character 😉

Yeah, I know. That's why I added "jokes aside" later on. 😉
Why does having different tastes in music have to be such a huge deal? Music is art, plain and simple. Just like painting is art. Should I really start picking fights with someone—or have them pick on me—just because we don't see eye to eye on American post-impressionism or how early expressionism influenced folk art?

All jokes aside. You've always got to meet somewhere in the middle...

Nancy Fowler61 said:(Theoretically) What about someone raised totally differently than people today? Someone who was never told stories about witches, dark monsters, or any of that nonsense, but actually understands concrete things... like logic and science? Would they still feel it? Or would they be part of that tiny minority that doesn't?

I don't know, guess you'd have to run an experiment to find out. 😛

Personally, I think that fear of the unknown—like those dark monsters coming to kill you—is just hardwired into everyone. Those people would still be scared regardless.

That's the whole point here. 😳 hollowtrucker77, 😢 sorry. 😢 🙂

Happyman already covered all that for you.

From what I get, horror movies featuring witches or those invisible, dark monsters... they target your inner child (not an actual kid, just that part of your psyche) and that’s why it creeps you out. It doesn't matter how much you stay indoors or try to shield yourself, that kind of stuff always leaves you feeling scared, looking over your shoulder in the dark, and all that.*

Some people live for that adrenaline rush. Personally? Horror movies just bore me. I don't watch them. You're just sitting there waiting for some crap to happen so you can supposedly feel scared 🤣. Anyway, Happyman gave you the answer.
