I've had a fistula near my rectal opening for about 37 years now. It opens up occasionally and leaks some discharge, which was left over from an old infection and cleaning of a perianal abscess where the tracts weren't fully cleared. My doctors say that after all this time, trying to operate to clean out the channel has a pretty low success rate. Honestly, it doesn't bother me much. It isn't painful, it just leaks a tiny bit of fluid once in a while, and I stay on top of my hygiene.
The real question is, can I—or should I—undergo hip surgery, specifically for both hips, without any complications? If Scott Allen10 has a moment, I’d love to hear his take, or if anyone else here has dealt with something similar.
