Here’s something that really jumps out at me—and I haven't seen anyone else really dig into it yet:

Following the big matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Rose Bowl, where the Lakers walked away with a 2-0 win, the Miami police department reported that 67 people were taken into custody.

"Seven individuals were detained for possession of pyrotechnics, while 52 others were arrested for violations under the Sports Bribery Act. Additionally, six people were held for disturbing the peace," according to the official police statement.

So, basically, those infamous scenes we all saw on the news yesterday fall under "disturbing the peace" (shoutout to Zachary Sullivan2, Jesse Campbell, Babe Ruth, and three others—though I'd love to know who those last few actually were), while everyone else was picked up under suspicion of "causing disorder at a sporting event."

Those three (plus the other three) were supposedly just messing with public order, but the rest of the poor souls—all 52 of them!—were flagged for "disorder at a sporting event."

It's wild... after a brawl breaks out at a game, some people give a quick statement for disturbing the peace and they're headed home within the hour, while everyone else—the ones accused of these unspecified "disorders"—are stuck sitting in a holding cell waiting for a judge on Monday.

Ah, the glorious rule of law and equality... thanks for nothing!

The fans were forced to buy tickets for the North Stand—where all the cameras are positioned—so it was basically checkmate. They caught everyone they wanted, handed out bans, probably added a few more names to some blacklist, and boom... problem solved.
Real masterclass planning right there....

Honestly, I was thinking the exact same thing. Especially since they announced immediately that West Stand tickets were unavailable, leaving the North Stand as the only option. And they've got all the surveillance infrastructure sitting right there...

I’ve got this memory stuck in my head—a friendly match Real Madrid played back in a Small town, USA, if I recall correctly. It was one of those sweltering, sticky days, and there were maybe a hundred people who had trekked out from Chicago just to get a break from all that city asphalt.

The absolute star of the show was Zora—he was missing shots that shouldn't have been possible to miss, so we all started ribbing him from our spot on the grass. We were having such a laugh that when the local Youth Soccer Club was awarded a penalty, the whole crowd started chanting for him to take it.

Nothing particularly special about the game itself, really, except for one little thing. People were just standing out on the field behind the benches. Even us folks from Chicago were hanging out there, right next to this group of guys who were sipping on some kind of homebrew the entire time. They were being pretty generous, offering some to us nearby, though—let’s just say it wasn't exactly top-shelf stuff.

So, the match wraps up, most people are already heading off, and a few rush toward the tent to snag a seat while Joe is giving an interview to some local reporter. Suddenly, that group of guys drinking the homebrew surges toward him, begging him to take a pull.

Man, we were losing it—honestly, I wouldn't have even touched the stuff if they’d paid me. But they kept pushing, "Come on, Joe, do it for Real Madrid!" When he heard that, he just looked at them and said if it was for Real Madrid, then alright... and he took a massive gulp...

We were absolutely dying, just cracking up. The chanting started immediately among the ten or so of us standing right there. It wasn't some grand gesture meant for the masses or for the headlines, though... it was just one of those classic moves in his signature style—the kind of move made by people who were just...

...so rare, yet so incredibly precious.

Rest in peace, Joe...
Adam Collins4 said:Mirko's defensive stats are actually better—that's why they kept him on the roster...

Does anyone know where I can find the full stats? All I could track down was a list of the top 20 goalies by save percentage, and—surprise, surprise—our guys aren't even on it.

edit: okay, found them...

I honestly don't know how you guys see this goalie swap, because to me, it just doesn't make any sense. Even Šola admits that Alilović hasn't been in shape for six months and is basically out of commission for this tournament.

So then—get this—he leaves Alilović right where he is, but decides to bench Šega, who’s actually been pretty solid lately—aside from that mess against Denmark—and has been consistently great all season playing for the Washington, D.C. squad.

Instead, he puts Pešić in the lineup... who, by the way, is literally the second or third string keeper for that same Washington, D.C. team where Šega is the starter.

I mean, what is the point of the change if we aren't fixing the actual issue with Alilović? Or why ditch Šega when he actually did a decent job with the limited minutes he got? Is this just some weird psychological move to "wake up" Mirko, since he's still technically the number one option?🤷

Is it actually true—and I know, it sounds absolutely wild, so bear with me while I ask—but has San Francisco seriously *never*, ever been a complete sell-out? A late friend of mine from back in the day told me there were still tickets left over even when Real Madrid came to town way back when... I mean, really? Is that even possible?

Thanks.

hollowtinker18, with all due respect—do you actually read what you write?

Way to go, Navy!

I mean, sure, someone out there might have a better game, a better road trip, or even a better season...

But the Navy always ends up at number three... and tonight? They proved it once again.

That was one hell of a statement!

Before you start pointing fingers at anyone, maybe do a little homework first..

The navy showed up.. from what I can gather, it was just about 14 or 15 people all crammed into a single van...

And now the police are basically turning them away right in front of the arena because there's "no room" and they can't "guarantee safety"...

Anonymous said:Sure, I'll use that article to show you exactly how we handled things:

Their proposal:
Article 36.
Under this specific fan legislation, if the police determine that a minor has broken the rules, they are required to notify the kid's parents or guardians. They also have to loop in the local social services department and the student's school. If we're talking about college students, the notification goes straight to their university instead.

Here is our proposal:
Article 36.
Under this law, if the police deal with minors who have been legally found to be acting unlawfully, they are required to notify their parents or guardians, along with the local child protective services agency.

I mean, what kind of "assessment" are we even talking about here? What on earth is the logic behind letting some random guy with a high school diploma working construction decide whether or not a student's school needs to be notified? If a court has already handed down a final, legally binding verdict, then fine—go ahead and notify the parents and Child Protective Services. But dragging schools and universities into it? That’s just unnecessary. Besides, let's be real: you don't exactly see a ton of minors enrolled in college anyway. This whole thing is just plain stupid.

I don't think this is talking about minors who happen to be studying... that's not how it's written... the first part of the article applies to minors... the second part is for college students...

which is totally out of place and I just don't see what kind of impact this could possibly have... laws—or any legal provisions, really—are supposed to serve a purpose... and I don't see any purpose here other than just plain old discrimination...

Are we really notifying colleges about convicted dealers, pedophiles, or rapists? Is that even allowed given human rights protections and the Constitution?

I wouldn't say so...

Hey, boldtiger7, have you looked into trying to get that rule tossed—you know, the one where they notify the college or high school if someone gets hit with a penalty?
