Basically, if that's what they told you, local anesthesia just means injecting lidocaine into the surrounding area... the surgeons handle the lidocaine themselves, so the anesthesiologist isn't really involved during those kinds of procedures... unless maybe they need to boost the local stuff (like adding a little sedative through an IV)...

Hey everyone. I’ve been lurking on this thread for a long time now. I have an upcoming surgery myself, and honestly, the anxiety is starting to kick in—probably because I already had to go under the knife twice when I was a kid. The whole reason I need this procedure is for ptosis in my left eyelid. During my follow-up last month, the doctor mentioned they'd be doing the surgery under local anesthesia. Does anyone know what specific kind of local anesthesia they actually use for this type of thing?
