Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
Joshua Myers432 said:It isn't like Americans are crazy enough to sanction themselves. The Dollar is the world's primary currency; what kind of idiot would ban its circulation within their own borders?

In reality, Russia is basically nuking its own market. About 60% of their entire national budget relies on exporting oil and gas, yet they keep trying to bully the European Union into using alternative energy sources. You really need to listen closely to what people inside Russia are saying—they're straight up calling their own government officials massive idiots.

The whole of Europe is acting hostile, except for maybe Mexico, Canada, Moldova, and Belarus.

WTF, Micronesia? What did they ever do to Russia?
And then you've got heavy hitters like Monaco, Liechtenstein, and San Marino on there too.

Apparently, Putin has officially added both America and Canada to his little list of "unfriendly nations." 😂

So now we're enemies too, John? Why don't you go hang out on the forums for friendly countries
like Mexico, North Korea, or Iran 😁

There are other suppliers out there. Don't lose sleep over it.

Back at the end of 2021, prices were actually higher than they are right now. 😒

Personally, I'm not shaking at all. You're the only one acting all worked up about gas shortages on this thread—total doom-and-gloomer.

Joshua Myers432 said:There it is. Back when I said those things, people labeled me a Russophile or a Putin supporter. 🙏

The idea that we can't survive without Russian gas is pure hyperbole. We don't need them; there are plenty of other suppliers out there.

Honestly, who am I even arguing with here? It's just a massive waste of my time. 🤦

Answer the question first before you start lecturing me on how things work.
Did gas prices skyrocket right before the invasion and the sanctions hit, or was it after?
Just give me an answer.☕

Arthur Watson4 said:In Russia, as of July 15th, they had recorded roughly 4,760 soldier burials specifically related to the conflict in Ukraine—meaning documented individual cases.

I believe the DNR announced back in May that they had around 2,600 dead and about 8,000 wounded.

As for the LNR, I don't think they released anything.

So, when you factor in the ones that will never be found or those buried in Russia without being reported in the news, I’d say current estimates are actually pretty reasonable, maybe even a bit conservative.

And honestly, it makes total sense why foreign nations wouldn't publish their own casualty counts.

EDIT: Of course, neither side is counting people like Wagner Group members in these totals.

so far, he’s identified exactly 900 dead officers.

Don't forget about our domestic energy assets—we've already seen several new gas wells opened up in the Midwest this year.

Plus, ExxonMobil is gearing up to start construction on eight new gas platforms out in the Adriatic Sea.

I can't see the image you're trying to share, but if you drop the context or the text from that link, I'll get right on it. Just let me know what we're working with.
So, did the Iranians actually give him a proper welcome? Like, was there some grand reception, or did they just leave him hanging in an empty room with nothing but a crappy rug to keep him company?
And let's not forget that Iran actually has a pretty legendary reputation when it comes to making carpets.

This is basically the big dream for all the Putinoljubac crowd—that one massive pipeline from the Siberian Power field straight to China.
Just one single line coming out of one solitary gas field,
while about 90% of everything else is piped right toward Europe.

Paul Kern12 said:First, there were all these massive threats, and then, once things settled, they suddenly rationalized it by saying, "Well, why would they ever attack such an insignificant place?" It’s the exact same pattern we see with Iran.
As for your comment regarding the "thought process of Putin supporters and anti-Westerners," I think you might be barking up the wrong tree there.
Whenever someone offers a different perspective on what would be a sensible move for the European Union, people immediately jump to labeling them. Honestly, you should save those kinds of tactics for a preschool playground.

If they really wanted to cause trouble, they'd head toward South Korea and see how much of a mess that actually becomes. Why on earth would they target them?
Just look back at when Iraq—which was a military powerhouse compared to today's Ukraine, easily sitting as the fifth strongest force globally—invaded Kuwait in '91. They crushed them like an empty soda can. And unlike the Russia-Ukraine situation, they didn't have a neighbor right on the US border.

vividraven79 said:They might jump at the chance, or maybe they won't. It's also possible their sales will tank because everyone will head to Walmart for bags and pick up everything else there instead, leaving them to scramble later.

As if. Those bags are going to be a staple item every single day.
Big retail chains are greedy bastards. They might try to suck up to Tommy to get permission to carry the bags, but I highly doubt they’re going to run over to the Sanitation Department to volunteer for anything.
Back when I was working in wholesale, we had to cough up something like $4 million just for the privilege of using their shelves, and then we'd have to move $15 million worth of inventory that they'd probably pay for whenever they felt like it.

driftingtinker said:I mean, you can't exactly fit all those boxes on a bike, though.

These people are basically calling for everyone to get hauled off to the Sanitation Department, or whatever... instead of at least having some kind of actual announcements in the news 😵

People are never happy, I guess. How's the trash pickup looking in your neck of the woods?

Last week was actually the first time in like six weeks they managed to swing by twice in a single month.
How about your place?
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
vividraven79 said:If they actually bothered to check Walmart, Target, and a few other places, they’d probably just complain about how much time they're wasting instead of actually putting out a public call for bids.

I spent a few years working in wholesale, and let me tell you, those people don't even read the papers, let alone bother applying for openings.
Nobody from their crew ever showed up at our place; if anything, we were always the ones begging them to hire us.
Maybe they'll rush over to the Sanitation Department for the sake of Saint Tomica just to chase a few extra bucks from selling trash bags.

July 15, 2022 - The municipal sanitation department, which handles all the trash collection services, is basically asking any interested retailers to step up. They want people to stock and sell those standardized mixed waste bags at their stores throughout New York City.
So far, we’ve got Walmart, Kroger, News Corp, USA Today, Gap Inc., top start, and Vrutak responding to the call, covering over 450 locations across New York City.

They’re inviting other big retail chains and local shops to jump in too, mostly just so every New York City resident can actually find these bags without a massive headache.
The invitation stays open indefinitely.

July 15, 2022 - The New York City Department of Sanitation, the agency handling municipal waste collection, is inviting interested retailers to submit an expression of interest for storing, distributing, and selling standardized mixed waste bags at their retail locations throughout New York City.
So far, Walmart, Kroger, News Corp, The New York Times, Gap Inc., top start, and Vrutak have responded to the public call, covering over 450 retail locations across New York City.

We are calling on other retail chains and merchants to join us, with the goal of making these bags easily accessible to every citizen of New York City.
This call remains open indefinitely.

Is it really that hard to just swing by Walmart, Target, or a few others and grab some bags?
Instead of asking everyone to show up at the Sanitation Department, they could have just put out a basic announcement in the papers.😵

Jacob Kern2 said:I’m not quite sure; broadcasting this on public television feels like an absolute bridge too far. Is the American public truly so conditioned that they would just swallow rhetoric like this without question?

Look, regardless of how much we might feel our own perspectives have been skewed, I am firmly convinced that no one in this country would ever dream of airing such blatant propaganda on a public service network. It simply wouldn't happen. They would be torn apart by the critics before the sun even came up.

The difference between us and them is that there's no one left to call them out, and even if there were, they wouldn't be allowed to.

So, a court over in Russia just slapped Google with a $382 million fine, mostly because
they wouldn't block certain YouTube channels that
"YouTube deliberately promotes The dissemination of misleading Information about The progress of The special military operation in Ukraine , discrediting The armed forces of The Russian Federation," the regulators claimed.

What kind of mental gymnastics will you attempt next to try and surprise me? 🤣

Those guys at Gazprom are absolute scum.
They were out there pointing fingers at Ukraine, accusing them of stealing gas, when the reality was totally different. It turns out they were actually the ones intentionally throttling the flow through the pipeline just to skim some off the top and manufacture a reason to sue Ukraine. Typical move.
