General Electric just confirmed they’re in on the gray matter thing.

Angela Davis68 said:Hey everyone, can anyone recommend a solid gastroenterologist in Washington, D.C.?
Private practice is fine too.
So, I've been dealing with endless GI issues for years now.
Right now I'm on Linzul, Metoprolol, and Famosan, but I seriously need to switch things up because this combo just isn't doing anything for me.
First thing on the agenda is seeing an ENT next week because of some swallowing issues, tongue burning, and that "lump in the throat" feeling—even though my neck ultrasound suggested it’s just acid reflux, they still sent me to the ENT to get checked out.
My longtime GI doctor finally retired, so I'm back at square one looking for someone new.
Please, if anyone else is going through the exact same nightmare, let me know.
P.S. Just don't suggest Dr. Budimir over at Mayo Clinic. I've already been there, thanks, but never again.
Thanks!

Well, she didn't go right away even though it was hurting, and she only finally made it in a few hours ago because the pain turned into this intense throbbing and she started feeling incredibly weak. They finally opened the tooth up a little while ago and gave her a dose of Clindamycin, but just a moment ago, she hit a wall—she got super dizzy, nauseous, and her fever spiked above 100 degrees
Since she couldn't even get out of bed, I called emergency services to ask for advice on what to do, but the person on the line basically just told me to monitor her and said that if things don't improve, I should call her doctor to run a COVID test. I asked her point-blank if this could be related to the tooth infection or if maybe bacteria had entered her bloodstream causing sepsis, and she got seriously Irritated with me, telling me—and I am quoting her here—that those aren't symptoms of sepsis. Now, look, I'm actually near the end of my medical studies, so I know damn well those *can* be symptoms, and when I asked her which specific symptoms she was referring to, she just started yelling at me for tying up the line and told me she wasn't going to sit there and take a lecture from me (even though the whole call lasted less than a minute)
Maybe I'm the one who messed up and should have just called an ambulance immediately, but I honestly don't get how a medical professional on the phone can give such blatantly wrong information and then turn around and start snapping at me first
I really hope I'm just overthinking this and it's nothing more than some random virus

The guy is incredibly thorough—he'll answer every single question you have, and he actually follows up via email after your appointment...

Anyone got a lead? Thanks in advance!
Laura Miller38 said:I'm trying to figure out which cardiologist to go with. My options are pretty much stuck between Medical Center, Saint Catherine, Cardioton, and Heart. I need a basic checkup since I've been having some issues lately.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these places?
mistyjackal842 said:Look, a neurologist reads the results, right? I assume everyone knows how to interpret them. It’s basic stuff. Just like how a cardiologist interprets an EKG. Though, honestly, this looks a bit more complicated than that.
mistyjackal842 said:Private EEG prices are pretty much everywhere around $100. Usually, you get better equipment when you go private. I haven't been to the local Community Health Center in a while, so I can't really speak to what their setup is like right now.

boldnomad45 said:Hey,
I'm a 44-year-old woman, non-smoker. For the last month, I've been dealing with gastritis, nausea, and they just found gallstones.
I'm waiting on surgery for the stones—supposed to happen next week, but I'm still waiting to see the anesthesiologist.
I did blood and urine tests yesterday, and my AST is up at 48 and ALT is at 74. My white blood cell count is also high, and the results show a lot of bacteria.
Do these AST and ALT levels have anything to do with the gallbladder?
They weren't elevated a month ago.
Also, will the anesthesiologist even clear me for surgery with high leukocytes and bacteria present?
I'm going for a urine culture tomorrow. I'm pretty dehydrated because I haven't been drinking enough water due to the nausea, so that probably has something to do with the bacteria. Plus, I have no idea how I'm supposed to take antibiotics with my stomach being like this.
Everything else seems fine, I feel okay, I've just been on a super strict diet for a month now.
I'd really appreciate some insight on these results so I can prepare for whether I'll actually go through with the surgery or not.
My primary care doctor thinks the anesthesiologist won't let me proceed.
Thanks.

Ideally somewhere on the west side of Chicago. Thanks.
mellowskipper said:At the Community Health Center, I think they mostly handle hospitalizations—you know, if the disorder is actually messing with physical functions or if someone's BMI is dangerously low. Handel is for adults, but I'm not sure about Modrusan. You also have pediatric and adolescent psychiatry over at Rebro; the staff there is solid, but getting an appointment is a total nightmare.
If you can swing it, take her to see someone privately. I'm pretty sure Bei has a list of therapists who specialize in this stuff.
Ashley Kelly65 said:I totally forgot to mention this is about a 14-year-old girl showing clear signs of anorexia. Her GP basically told me to just hang tight for another week, but honestly, there’s nothing to wait for—things are getting worse by the day.
Carol Gomez71 said:Hello, a family member has been diagnosed with glioblastoma. Taking higher doses of Dexamethasone is really triggering depression, fear, and anxiety for him. Is there anything he can take to get rid of these side effects, or even just dull them down a bit? He’s totally against seeing a psychiatrist or taking psych meds—is there anything natural out there?
Thank you!
coastaltiger7 said:That’s not what a recommendation is. Anyone can look up a clinic and a phone number on Google, but that's not why people come here. We're looking for actual, real-world advice.
At least, that's how I've been feeling about this whole thread.
Patrick Hughes72 said:Thanks... but do you actually have personal experience with a proctologist from the Amruseva area, or what?
