Naked at the doctor's office in Health ·
Hmm... I remember back in high school, they sent us to observe a delivery. Fast forward to now, and we’re standing there in the pre-op area, and the women are giving us these absolute death stares—you know the look, like, "Oh great, just what we needed, more spectators." So, there we are, just awkwardly staring at the floor or the ceiling, silently praying to God that at least one woman would actually go into labor so we could finally leave. We stood there for maybe fifteen minutes before our professor showed up and told us to gather in front of the last bay because a patient had given the okay for us to watch. Hmmm... what now? You have to go in. So, there we were—six girls and one guy—watching, and then some of the girls actually fainted. It ended up being just me and this one guy left. In the end, we didn't see a thing because those overeager medical interns and students jumped in and took over everything... But... well, in the end, we were actually the first ones to see the baby. 😉
School vaccinations: A MUST! in Health ·
I honestly can't tell if I’m just losing my mind here or if the laws actually changed? Back in late 2007 or early 2008, I was supposed to get vaccinated—it was the DI-TE shot—but I ended up coming down with strep throat. Because my strep levels were so high (my AST levels were actually through the roof), they told me I couldn't take the vaccine at that time. Then, around October 2008, a doctor from my school called me to say I either needed to get vaccinated while I was in college or I wouldn't be able to participate... but then my strep came back again, so once more, I couldn't get the shot. Long story short, nobody is reaching out to me anymore, and I haven't received any kind of notice or notification about it lately..🤷

Honestly, this whole idea about refusing a vaccine just out of "principle" feels a bit silly to me. I mean, what kind of principles can you really hold onto at eighteen? Come on, let's be real here. Besides, if something has been standard medical practice for years, I don't care how many scientists try to tell me otherwise—I’m going to trust the results. You've already had your shots for things like diphtheria and tetanus, right? And look, you're still standing, healthy and fine, without any issues from those vaccines. If everyone else can get vaccinated and stay protected, why shouldn't you be able to do the same?
Megan Davis62 said:Look, urine tests can definitely give you a false positive... but bloodwork? That’s much harder to argue with. Mass spectrometry doesn't just make mistakes like that. Either he had it in his system—did he realize that or not?—or there was some massive error at the lab, though I really doubt they messed up that badly. Honestly, the whole thing feels off to me. How can someone test positive for both if they didn't feel any effects beforehand? 🤷

Exactly... that's what I don't get! Though, I suppose blood tests can sometimes flag certain substances because of how medications interact with them. It just goes to show you have to be careful with what you take. Still, I can't wrap my head around how this happened to him. He wasn't on any meds, he hadn't been to the dentist, and he hasn't seen an ENT lately—and you know how some nasal procedures involve trace amounts of cocaine, though I'm not sure about the exact concentration—yet he comes back positive for drugs!🤷 Seriously
irondriver5 said:Yeah, I'm pretty sure about that. Honestly, I don't even know what else to make of it. 🤷

I really don't know... Is it possible someone actually slipped something into your drink?
Are you absolutely certain you didn't end up taking one of those medications listed in that link?!
I don't know about that... I mean, if you had actually gone to a doctor and gotten some medical proof, maybe things would be different. Sorry, but I just don't see how anyone is going to take your word for it without documentation! It’s almost as if someone went and tampered with something in your Pepsi (or maybe it was something in your food)
Did you happen to stop by the dentist recently? Or maybe somewhere similar?

Wait, what kind of vaccination was that exactly? I know high school seniors usually get their shots for things like diphtheria and tetanus... Anyway, there aren't any penalties involved since I didn't get vaccinated back in my senior year of high school (I was actually sick at the time)... and I still haven't gotten them since then, even though I graduated last year... so there's no legal trouble or anything. Honestly, I regret not doing it now, but it really wasn't a case of me just refusing to go.
Look, everything you need to know is right here:

Theoretically, you could spread something just by using a towel... conjunctivitis, for instance. But like Lisa Hernandez80 mentioned, there are so many different factors at play here.

So, they say we’re leading the pack when it comes to antidepressant prescriptions—but I guess that’s what happens when you have everything at your fingertips, right? You know, thinking about it now... maybe I should try looking online to see if there's a psychiatrist nearby who takes private clients!

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but isn't it just a matter of heading down to your local family doctor and telling them what's going on? They can refer you to a psychiatrist, and they'll take it from there—at least, that's how I assume the process works in the US 🤷. Anyway, there really shouldn't be any shame in seeing a psychiatrist. At the end of the day, they're just doctors, just like any other specialist you might visit

Look, I went through the exact same thing—breaking up with someone I truly loved. But honestly? It never even crossed my mind to sit around wallowing or reaching for sleeping pills just because I can’t sleep over someone who clearly doesn't value me anymore. You have to walk away, because ultimately, it's what's best for you. Besides, using sedatives or hypnotics is just as dangerous as messing with cocaine, heroin, or any other hard drug. I really don't think you want to end up in an autopsy report or six feet under, do you? I deal with my own chronic health issues, and even though he walked out on me when things were at their absolute worst, I realized there was zero point in grieving him. I know I'm drifting a bit off-topic here, but I felt like I had to say it. Seriously, please go find some professional help as soon as possible.

I mean, at this rate, we might actually need to call for backup!

Richard Moore73 said:Hey everyone, good afternoon. I’m honestly at my wit's end here... I think I've become addicted to these sleep aids, specifically Sanval. It got out of hand fast—I've been going through about four bottles a day lately. Does anyone have any advice? It would mean the world to me right now. Thanks.

You really need to reach out to a medical professional for this. Tapering off these kinds of medications has to be done gradually and under strict doctor supervision. You absolutely cannot just stop cold turkey!

If this is how you plan on studying through the end of the school year, well... it’s going to be a pretty sad story.
Unless you actually get off your butt and try to wrap your head around the fact that anatomy and physiology aren't just about memorizing random lines someone posts on an internet forum, all that effort is just going to go to waste...

Honestly, I'm telling her the exact same thing. I actually know what it takes to master anatomy, so I've been pointing her toward the right textbooks to buy. An online forum isn't the place to learn this kind of stuff!

Exactly! So, when we're talking about those back muscles, you're looking at the trapezius, the latissimus dorsi, the rhomboid major, the infraspinatus, the teres major, and the teres minor.

The broadest muscle in the back, stretching from the pelvis up to the base of the skull.

Do the back muscles include the deltoid?

Not exactly... even though it attaches to the scapula, the deltoid is technically a shoulder muscle.
