Should R. Čačić just step down from politics already? in Close to Politics ·

Cacic caused the deaths of two people
manslaughter should be on the table here
everyone in public office needs to resign immediately
plus he needs to lose his driver's license for good
he's a danger on the road
a car in hands like that is basically a weapon!

...and honestly, there isn't much else to say about it. 🙂

bluerider63 said:Of course he’s calculating his moves; anyone in his shoes would be doing the exact same thing. After seeing all this vitriol thrown at Kennedy, I’m just waiting for someone to start screaming about how he should have just walked straight into a cell and asked for a ten-year stretch.
Nobody actually wants to sit behind bars, and everyone fights for the lightest sentence possible; honestly, with the amount of hate being spewed, it wouldn't surprise me if someone started complaining that he didn't even hire a high-priced lawyer to defend him.

Still, there's enough humanity left in him that I doubt he'll be making a run for Canada like some ☕
coward.

So now Kennedy is facing the Canadian judiciary... we'll see if he ever even dares to set foot in Canada again.😁
Don't go sticking your neck out for politicians—regardless of which party they belong to!😉

bluerider63 said:Look, you should be adjusting your driving regardless of what the weather is doing, but honestly, there aren't many people out there who actually bother to follow that rule.
I'm not trying to stick up for R. Čačić—he messed up, plain and simple, and everyone knows it. I just don't see why he shouldn't stay on the job until things actually play out in court, assuming he even ends up facing prison time.

There's actually no provision for probation for a felony like this...

bluerider63 said:I get where you're coming from, but honestly, you can't really compare these two situations. Reckless driving could just as easily be someone flying down the interstate in perfect sunshine while going over 81 miles/h, or pretty much anyone else ignoring the limit regardless of whether it's pouring rain or not. And let's be real, how many people actually push past those limits? You could probably argue that over 90% of Žužić's crowd is out there doing exactly that on the road.

Look, it's common sense that you have to adjust your speed when the weather turns bad—that's when most accidents happen..

You're basically defending the indefensible just because Čačić fits your political vibe. If this were, say, Jandroković, your argument would be the exact opposite... which is honestly pathetic, considering we're talking about actual lives lost here!

bluerider63 said:Look, I never said losing two people was common, I was talking about something else entirely, but whatever. Comparing some drunk Žužić tearing through a narrow alleyway to Čačić causing an accident in terrible weather conditions is honestly just a malicious reach.

...If someone is driving at speeds that aren't adjusted for "totally terrible weather," that’s just reckless driving to me, too...☕

bluerider63 said:I might not be paying as much attention as you are, but I honestly can't say he's acting like nothing even happened.

If he weren't so incredibly full of himself—arrogant, callous, the whole nine yards—he would have actually stepped back from the public eye for a while...☕

bluerider63 said:People will decide how much this hits his party when they hit the polls. Honestly, you shouldn't even be bothered by it, since a weakened Democratic Party works out just fine for you anyway. 😁

Oh, obviously people will make their choice at the ballot box... but that's not the point here. We aren't just talking politics; we're analyzing the actual character of a man who kills people through sheer negligence and then acts like absolutely nothing happened!

Scott Cruz4 said:Alright, fine—but how many years behind bars does the law actually call for when someone "unintentionally" causes a traffic accident that ends in a fatality?

I think I read somewhere that it's between 2 to 8 years... over in Canada.

bluerider63 said:I mean, sure, it'll probably haunt him forever, no doubt about that, but you still haven't really hit on why he'd be any less capable of actually doing his job than he was before this mess went down...

It isn't about capability—it's about character, plain and simple. It's pure arrogance. He's so incredibly full of himself that he actually believes his actions won't have a single dent in his party's reputation!

And look, if the rank-and-file members disagree, I'm sure the party's bylaws have plenty of mechanisms to strip him of his presidency...

Ha, ha... "the party leadership said it"... as if the leadership isn't just Čačić himself. You can't seriously believe anyone is allowed to talk back to him, right?

granitemarlin77 said:Look, speaking for myself here—if I were responsible for taking two lives, the last thing on my mind would be running for office. I certainly wouldn't be showing up to fancy dinners and parties while the victims were still fighting for their lives.
But we're talking about two actual human beings who ended up under his car while he was behind the wheel.
Then again, since we're talking about Čačić, his decision to stick around in politics despite everything isn't exactly a shocker.☕

Of course it isn't surprising... not from Čačić, and certainly not from his buddies over in the Democratic Party!

bluerider63 said:I don't see what his career has to do with some car wreck.

That's a criminal offense... You really think something like that won't impact a politician's career?

bluerider63 said:What a load of crap, there's a court system in place and justice will eventually catch up.

Even without a courtroom, Čačić knows his own negligence caused the accident that killed two people... he actually admitted it himself yesterday. So, we aren't even debating the facts here!

So, let me ask you this: should a person who kills two people through pure negligence ever be allowed back in politics? Should they really be leading a political party and acting like that party stands a prayer of winning the next election?! ☕

James Nguyen13 said:You really only need to look at where the League of Women Voters places its observers—they seem to focus almost exclusively on areas where the Republican Party is winning. Then, once the League of Women Voters releases their data, it looks like the Republican Party is pulling in two-thirds of the vote. Every single precinct where the Republican Party is strong is practically swarmed by observers from other parties and various "independent" leftist groups.
But honestly, these folks are essentially engaging in political suicide. They claim the Republican Party won because of support from overseas voters (which isn't true), or that they won because the local voters are narrow-minded, or even that the voters are corrupt and stealing ballots. By making those accusations, all they're really doing is reinforcing the resolve of those voters to stick with the Republican Party.

Exactly!☕

nimblemarlin17 said:Yeah, sure, everything is just perfect. My cousin killed someone while driving drunk and high and didn't face any consequences either. On paper, everything looks great, but reality is a lot darker. But hey, kudos to you for being so optimistic and trusting the system. Personally? I don't buy it. 🙂

There’s plenty that needs fixing in this country... we can all agree on that. Everyone points out what isn't working. Obviously, if the Republican Party is in power, they take the brunt of the blame for the failures, the lack of law enforcement, the corruption, and all that...

But I honestly don't think the Democratic Party would do any better right now—they just don't look convincing to me. (And my opinion on them was pretty much cemented after the last election, when they couldn't even manage to hammer out a coalition with other parties and failed to form an Administration... it really highlighted Biden's total inability to actually communicate with people.)
If you want to be objective, you have to admit the Democratic Party completely embarrassed themselves back then... (They couldn't even get anyone to play ball, right? No?!)🤷

nimblemarlin17 said:It’s not some myth, it’s reality. What do you think my grandma votes for? An uncle or a nephew rolls up and says, "Hey Grandma, I'll do this for you so you don't have to walk down to the polls." Just guess which party gets all those votes.

Then there’s the military. Back in the day, I was in a friendly weekend soccer league with a proud US Armed Forces colonel. He wasn't ashamed to talk openly in the pub about how they used to rig hundreds of votes for the Republican Party and how much it sucks now because it's become way harder.

When you hear things like that firsthand, they stop being urban legends or fairy tales. Tens of thousands of votes across America go to the Republican Party that way.

What you're describing is just "old wives' tales"... because it's not just about the observers—it's about the commission members themselves. And since these commissions are bipartisan, no single party holds two or more seats...

The commission consists of three members and three alternates... and every single one represents a different party.

nimblemarlin17 said:Local elections just hit differently—that's my point. Take that one guy from the Democratic Party who swept through Blue City. In these types of races, you don't get all that nationalist rhetoric or the "we're going to lose federal funding" scare tactics. Honestly, that result is a massive blow to the Republican Party. Even in the most hardcore conservative strongholds, they can't find ten decent people to run a small town properly—instead, they get trounced by the Democrats. Apparently, having a vision and actually being productive is too much to ask.

It’s pretty pathetic when people start pushing falsehoods here on the forum, too... I’ve always wondered—what is the actual point of lying?!!

Nowadays, you just call them out and debunk every lie with ease!
