The peak of Torcida in the mountain regions—and their little rendezvous with the Mexicans🙏 🙏
The guys from the coast would probably give anything if they could just link up the Tovarčević crew with Torcida, but—well, life isn't that easy, is it? So, let’s be honest for a second. You all should probably take yourselves to surgery—because I’m pretty sure a good chunk of your group is busy handling the logistics for the Mexicans and everyone else, making sure the beer imports through the Port of Savannah run smoothly.

goldentinker8 said:Honestly, there’s even no point in debating this because you guys still have a massive debt to pay for all that Southern myth-making and the way you've tried to tear the American fabric apart, right? For the last thirty years or so, we’ve basically been playing nice and giving you guys nothing but grace, but let me tell you, that’s about to change big time... We were just getting warmed up, and believe me, everything is going to be paid back with interest—every single lie, every deception, and every single myth used to target one part of the American people. Every bit of it is coming due for the good of everyone else, and you're going to serve as the ultimate cautionary tale so that nobody ever even dreams of trying something like this again! 😍 🙂

goldentinker8 said:So now it's suddenly "local," but the second you bring the focus back to our home turf, suddenly it's not okay? That's funny... I guess then the whole Torcida movement is just a bunch of little branches, huh? 🤣

You guys are totally missing the mark here, and honestly, it feels more intentional than accidental! Shoot me a DM, because there’s really nothing left to debate in this public thread—I can send you the actual clippings from '88, '89, and '90... everything from the matches at Kantridu to the scenes in Ljubljana and up to the big cities. You'll see exactly how Armada and Torcida teamed up against the Delije at Kantridu back in '88.👍

Look, just a year prior in Mexico City, they didn't care—they actually tolerated them in the city and right in the stands. People were just like, "Oh, look at the kids." There was even a Mexican tricolor hanging right in the middle of the section. Those guys did that because they knew nobody would push back—mostly because there wasn't really any friction between the local teams and the Mexico City crew back then. That’s just how it was.

Anyway, I feel like this whole debate is pretty pointless when the people who were actually there are telling us that things started getting tense during the finals almost immediately.

And here's a little something else regarding those finals. Believe it or not, the home fans actually threw a welcome party for the players despite the loss. The haters would probably call that "loser mentality," I guess.

February 7, 1988. The Madison Square Garden arena.

Okay, now please, I am begging you, let's not dive back into that whole infamous Cantré mess and all those riots, alright? Everything is totally fine, we've heard the stories from you a million times already, really, it's great... But seriously, please don't, even if there isn't a moderator online right now and things could get pretty messy in here.🤣

Look, we’re talking about a local hardcore supporters group here. I’m pretty sure the local crew was totally fed up with the constant chatter back in '87—especially regarding those guys hanging around the stands and the city—given how much we’d been clashing with them for years over national identity issues. They were basically the opposition in every sense of the word back then. And honestly, there was a certain... let’s call it "nonchalance" on your part too—if I remember correctly—since they would show up in massive numbers at our stadium all the way until the end of the old league, yet there weren't really any attempts to stir up trouble or anything. Correct me if I'm wrong on that bit. But you've already shown us that when you actually want to start something, you certainly can. So, it was never a question of whether you had the numbers or the muscle—you definitely did.

Split, 1986.

I can't actually watch video links—my eyes aren't wired for YouTube playback—but if you can give me the gist of what’s happening in there, I’m all ears. Just drop a summary or some context, and I'll dive right in.

Jason Kern49 said:I honestly don't get why people are getting so worked up over "fan folklore." There’s a massive difference between insulting someone in the stands and doing it specifically online. I am positive that those guys from the coast aren't out there throwing insults at folks from the Midwest in their actual lives or private dealings, and it goes both ways. In fact, anyone who spends any time navigating the coast knows that most of us get along just fine; I’ve had plenty of people from the northern regions become close family friends. Those folks are top-tier people, even if we on the coast have our own way of doing things. Anyone who actually travels or works the waters knows that's the reality.

So, why does someone feel this pathological need to act out on a forum? Regardless of which side they're on, it's probably because they know there are zero consequences here.

Carry on, gentlemen.

It’s actually a pretty sane way to look at it. I remember a few years back, there was this opportunity for a guy from my neighborhood to go work maintaining cruise ships while they were docked in places like the Bahamas or Canada. It was a sweet deal—two days of work for a massive paycheck. Most of the guys from my block went; most were huge sports fans, and one guy from the rival city—total hardcore supporter, covered in tattoos and everything—joined them. He was a bit skeptical at first about working with "the opposition," but it turned out great. He did it a few more times before the gig dried up, and honestly, some of those guys still stay in touch today.

Or take that big rivalry game back in 2006 or 2007. Some of the local supporters were grilling meat in the neighborhood, while the rest of us were already downtown. My two buddies popped into the corner store and ran into these two teenagers, maybe 16 or 17, who were clearly fans from out of town. My guys cornered them, and the kids immediately admitted they were from the rival city—first time ever visiting our part of the country, totally lost, didn't even know where the stadium was located.🤣

Instead of causing trouble, the locals just rounded them up, took them to grab a bite to eat, threw them in the car, and dropped them off right by the stadium just before kickoff.

So yeah, there’s a difference between mindless trolling and reality. Most people are actually decent, reasonable humans—thank God for that. And I mean that for everyone, regardless of which side they support, just so we're clear.

goldentinker8 said:I mean, seriously, what kind of nonsense are you guys still spewing? Is it actually possible that you still buy into that ridiculous fairy tale about some organized group teaming up against you? Even you guys were cheering for the underdog at the stadium back in '99, so why should we in the coastal cities give a single damn? What does that have to do with us?

For crying out loud, 1987... does that even register in your brain? The big team played, and everyone else just messed with your heads because they were your rivals, and that was literally it! Do you see a single banner from the hardcore supporters in the stands, or is it all just casual fans? It’s nothing but casuals! What kind of fantasy have you cooked up where something massive was supposed to happen? Like, who was going to go out and clean up after the New York crowd? Are you kidding me? Are the people seeing them for the first time just gonna rush the stands to start policing things? Are grandmas and kids gonna start throwing punches yelling "Hey, New Yorkers, let's go!"? Yeah, right! Nothing like that would happen today unless you find some die-hard ultra groups, and back then? Forget about it.

The hardcore supporters didn't even make it into the stadium because there was a huge clash happening in the city, so what kind of delusion are you living in regarding that whole situation? 🤣

Do you even realize that the local supporters were totally hanging out with the other crew after the championship game? Do you get that they were heading to matches together after that? You guys are still trying to mythologize this like it was some earth-shattering event, even though you were perfectly fine being buddies with them! So, who's actually fraternizing with whom?

And the absolute craziest part of all this... is how the entire city was mourning the old leader. I mean, the whole stadium! That means the whole era when those New York guys were running the show. But I guess that doesn't fit your narrative because they aren't "ultras," right? Where do you even see the hardcore crews in all this? You think they were rolling with the New York crowd? What kind of sickness is that? 😲

You know what the worst part is? Nobody gives a damn about you guys! You were literally bringing those outsiders onto your own side of the stands, you were hanging out with them, you were basically doing business with them... and this was all happening *after* the war, which is hands down the biggest disgrace ever in our local scene regarding relations with those types. And yet, you're sitting here having a meltdown over some thousands of people who showed up to a championship final in the city forty years ago. Seriously, I can't believe how much you guys love your own myths. It's unbelievable.

Where did I ever say that Armada was specifically cheering? Besides, Armada was just starting out back then; they weren't even a big group, and the individuals who eventually founded the group and moved into the ultra scene were also part of Torcida and acting like Hajduk fans—which is pretty ironic, I guess.

They were just regular fans of the local team, not just at the stadium but all over town. And no, it wasn't just "grandmas and kids"—it was the core group that would eventually grow into what became the Armada. Back then, Armada was just a small circle of people.

Carl Hernandez3 said:The real issue here is everyone trying to rewrite history regarding who was actually sitting in whose section during some tournament back in '87.
Who was actually tearing up the stadium in Miami back in 1980?
Who really played dirty against the big cities in '60 or '79?
Which teams were getting crushed by the guys from Chicago or Philly—who basically kept the smaller clubs from ever becoming stable major league staples?

Truth be told, everyone was playing nice with them until about '89—that’s just how the game worked. Everyone has their skeletons in the closet, and let's face it, that's just the way it is.

Now, those first two points? Those are straight facts. It's true that the fans from the coast were standing shoulder-to-shoulder with those Mexico City hooligans, cheering against us—all while our own guys were getting into scraps with those same Mexico City crews for years, mostly because those guys rarely showed up to our city, especially for street fights. And yeah, it's also a fact that a good chunk of the stadium crowd back in 1980 was basically just there for the beer. Look, you can point fingers however you want, but that's the reality.

Talking about those early fouls by the two players, the verbal jabs at Jeanette and the rest of that whole mess...

You were the first one complaining about how Lox plays against teams like the Galaxy—no yellow cards, nothing like that... but now that they're playing you...

And then there's that...

Anyway, thanks for the reply...

All the best...
I'm sorry, but I don't recognize that name or term. Could you clarify what you mean?

I could probably spend all day writing about games involving the Yankees or the Red Sox where people weren't just playing hard, they were actually throwing hands—not to even mention the crowds. So yeah, this situation isn't some freak occurrence like you're trying to claim. Best,

But since I posted this morning at 8:21 AM, nobody has said a single word.

How is that possible? Really... 🤔

Question: who are these people (assuming we aren't talking about the ones they actually get along with, like those Portland Demons)???

What’s the big deal? Did we actually have some unspoken agreement to let things slide when needed and then just break it? Besides, we were all beating up this same star back in Chicago four hours ago.

goldentinker8 said:Honestly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it... Most of you guys are just making fun of them because things got blown out of proportion by certain higher-ups. The Armada used to support everything—water polo, handball, basketball—they’d even show up for the juniors a few times! But hey, if 90% of the people in this city don't give a damn, then I guess that's just how it goes for that 2%, right? Ultra groups do all sorts of stuff, they follow all kinds of things. You know how Torcida will head off to wherever the Armada is, even if their own club isn't playing, you know what I mean? Just because they do doesn't mean you, or the other 98% of the crowd, have to care about where everyone else is heading, right?

The reality is that this whole thing blew up across the entire city, from the grandmas to the kids, so blaming Torcida is really missing the point... And then, to top it all off, it ended with a massive string of losses like a bad joke at the end of the season. But again, I'll say it: it's not actually a big deal, we all know why people do what they do, and I totally get it... It's just funny how some people are going to mock it anyway, and well, I guess that's just life. 😁

👍

Though, calling it a "massive defeat" might be a bit much. Even before the final, they already announced there would be a parade regardless of whether they won or lost, because everyone felt they had pulled off an incredible feat for our standards and deserved the celebration. You could definitely draw a parallel to the 2018 national team parade, where they also promised a welcome no matter the outcome of the final.

Now, we could go down a rabbit hole debating whether something like this actually deserves a parade, or if it’s such a monumental success (it clearly is to us), or even if it warrants this much attention from the local rivals' fans in general. And regarding the national team thing too—it’s not exactly common worldwide to throw a massive parade for a silver medal, at least not on this scale.

But honestly, I don't see the connection to that time the Celtics fans met their team at the airport.

hiddenlynx5 said:I seriously don't get why everyone's making such a massive deal out of tracking the junior squads, you know? Like, yeah, okay, maybe there was a bit of a hype surge because back then our first team was basically a total train wreck, but come on... even the Armada crew was showing up to the junior games during the first half of the season when the juniors were sitting at number one and the seniors were stuck down in 8th place.

The real issue is that we're talking about a major US club here, and the biggest "problem" is just that the media goes crazy over it because coverage of this team drives clicks and eyeballs. Then you get people like Prlja popping up—I can't even quote him anymore without feeling like I'm repeating myself—complaining about all the focus on the juniors (as if someone's forcing him to talk). But the second things go south for the club, suddenly the media goes into overdrive and everyone starts tearing them apart. It's not "too much coverage" then, is it? No, then they just pile on. Basically, whenever there's negative news about the team, everyone wants to swing for the fences, but if something positive actually happens, suddenly the media should just stay quiet so they don't upset Prlja or the die-hard fans.
Brenda Murphy3 said:That’s not even what I’m getting at. Obviously, it’s perfectly fine to celebrate both a club and the national team.

But hosting a full-blown waterfront parade for a junior squad—who, by the way, got absolutely smoked 5-0 (not that the scoreline is even the most important part here)—is just pure insanity.

It’s not like the fans, the people showing up, or any specific supporter group is to blame... it’s more that someone within the club management should have had the common sense (or the guts) to say, "Hey, this isn't actually helping these kids, and frankly, it looks ridiculous." That's all I'm saying.

They could have just walked out in front of the stadium before the next senior match, gotten a nice round of applause, and called it a day. That would’ve been totally normal and plenty enough...
Any sports psychologist worth their salt will tell you that throwing a victory parade for a crushing defeat does zero favors for these young players' heads. But honestly, trying to explain logic to people who don't want to hear it is a waste of breath—so I guess there's no point in dragging this out further.

Absolutely, I agree. But I don't see what any of this has to do with the seniors being greeted by their rivals, since that's the parallel being drawn here. A much better comparison would be the homecoming for the US National Team.

When it comes to obsession, is it even possible that certain local pundits still haven't weighed in on the Eurovision results? Or the thousands of frustrated trolls in the comments sections of the local papers complaining about the statements from the club brass? Honestly, it's sickening. You only see that level of backward, narrow-minded commentary—especially from certain older demographics—in specific parts of the world. When you look at the whole picture, it's no wonder people associate this area with being stuck in the past.

Don't play dumb. I follow the media closely, and a huge chunk of them—mostly the conservative outlets—can't stand the Eurovision crowd. Even a good portion of the locals feel the same way. So, we're definitely not an outlier here.

Whatever helps people sleep at night, I guess. But man, this obsession with us is fascinating—especially the way they talk. Like, we followed the junior team on their road trips, we did the welcome home after the finals... honestly, most other fanbases wouldn't give a damn, but here it turns into this massive, overblown drama. And it’s coming from these guys who follow some random local basketball team or a handball club, or those kids playing futsal—nobody cares about them, nobody even comments on their stuff—so why bother? They should probably just go follow their own teams, though that seems pointless too. But the second we follow our juniors, it triggers something deep in their heads. The local hooligans immediately start celebrating a loss in the finals, acting like those old-school diehards from decades ago. You’ve got the hardcore fans meeting everyone at the airport, and then you’ve got this guy flying in here with some nonsense story.🙏🙏

Total psychopaths, really. Such an intense obsession. I’m telling you, if we slip one more spot on the standings next year, the suicide rate in this region might actually spike. And if—by some miracle—we actually win a championship, people will be losing their minds from coast to coast.

Look, I mean, sure—it’s fine to roll out the red carpet for the national team, but doing it for these clubs? Not so much. 🙏 🙏

We basically have the exact same mindset as those die-hard hooligans—I mean, we gave our junior squad a hero's welcome right after they choked in the finals, which was... questionable. But when you throw a parade for the senior national team just because they got knocked out in the round of 16? That's a whole different level of delusion. Some clown was assigned to push that little rat's toy along—pathetic red team, honestly. A penalty barely gets called before Erceg takes him out with an elbow and opens up a whole arcade of pain, yet this ref stands there doing absolutely nothing. Typical scene at the stadium—it’s basically a classic at this point.
