Windows 7 vs. Windows XP: Which one should I use?

So, basically, here's the deal: I'm planning on installing Windows 7, even though I'm currently running XP, but honestly, I've been using it for such a long time now that I'm just totally bored with it... I guess I'm one of those people who gets obsessed with the little details, and man, Windows 7 just looks so much better visually than what I have now...!
But the big question for me is, is Windows 7 actually better than Windows XP when you get down to it...?
Specifically, am I going to run into performance issues or weird glitches if I try to put the 32-bit version on my current setup, which has 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a dual-core processor...? 🙂
Come on, guys, please help me make up my mind, because I've got some buddies who aren't exactly thrilled with Windows 7, while then other people tell me it runs absolutely flawlessly...
Thanks...!
I actually set up both XP and 7 on my laptop, and you know what? Every time I boot it up, it gives me this nice little prompt asking whether I want to jump into XP or 7. I kept all my specific tools on the XP side, but I use 7 mostly for browsing the web since it feels way snappier. You could totally set it up the same way if you've got enough space left on your hard drive. Just a heads-up, Windows 7 recognized every single one of my drivers immediately, so I didn't have to hunt down a single thing to install. Why don't you try doing that so you can test out the difference, and if you end up hating it, you can just wipe 7 off? Just make sure you install Windows 7 onto its own separate partition.
