Sure, I'll take every single one of those words to heart. 🥳
Kate Fox58 said:Is there actually anything creative about a struggle, fundamentally?

Kate Fox58 said:Let's look at it this way.
A struggle over territory brings nothing but misery and pain.
A conflict between two women just leads to ridicule.
Fighting for your health is exhausting because you're drained physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Then there's the struggle with oneself... like a painter who can't paint, or a writer who can't write.
And so on.
True creativity comes from a healthy baseline, where surging energy is looking for a way out.
But those are just my thoughts.
That was my first reaction when I saw the title.

Honestly, you answered your own question. Isn't struggle what keeps the world spinning? Can anyone even get through a day without some kind of struggle?
Good vs. evil, within us and around us, the struggle for love, the struggle for sanity, the struggle against toxic influences every day... just like you said. 🙂

Don't spam me. Just talk. Don't come crying to me later about how I phrased things. 🙂

briskwalker10 said:Of course, that’s why I say I can totally get where they're coming from.

Yeah, whatever... applies to me too. As much as I believe in equality, if some extreme feminist gets on my nerves, I’ll intentionally drop something super chauvinistic just to spite her. Doesn't count... 🤣

Well, now we're getting into trouble. One smart woman from your gender once said:

It doesn't matter if you care about politics or not. You can apply this logic to pretty much any part of life.

I'm no feminist. 😁If I could choose my own path, I'd be an Amazon🤣
I think when people start following certain trends, even women 😁, it's easy to lose your way. My take is just my take; I'm nothing original here. Things are right there in front of us, but people just spin them however they want, just like everything else.
Take what I'm saying about religion, for example—there's all this talk about men dominating women. When you actually look at it, it's a pretty extreme retelling of things that aren't even true. I liked this one little snippet explaining Easter events regarding women. It’s the reason why the risen Jesus appeared to women first. A theologian explains that because women are naturally inclined to believe; they experience the world through their hearts and God is just a fact to them. Meanwhile, the men—as shown when we get to the apostles—are constantly looking for proof. They base their knowledge on empirical evidence. Just like a body can't function if it leans too far to one side and needs a balance of mind and heart, if the male and female principles aren't steady, there's no harmony.

Walter Baker2 said:Women want to be men. Roles have been lost; women were meant to be mothers and homemakers, while men handle the heavy lifting. That still mostly holds up since you don't see women on construction sites or in mechanic shops. But now, there's this push for men to stay home, clean, cook, and babysit, which isn't natural for them, and most men end up breaking under the pressure or becoming feminized.

Walter Baker2 said:Hey babe, did your man dump you for someone else, or am I just imagining it? I won't tell anyone.

Walter Baker2 said:Look, if he wasn't worth it, then that's just how it goes. But those guys you women obsess over usually have a whole rotation of other women waiting in the wings.

Maybe I’m not frustrated, maybe I just have thoughts? It doesn't cross my mind to label you as a housewife or some tough guy or whatever, but I'm definitely not in those categories.

Grace Mitchell87 said:@Michelle Bennett14, don't mention it. It wasn't just "nice," I actually liked it. 🙂
I was going to reply to that and one more little thing, but you beat me to it. I get the whole closed-off thing; I feel that way myself sometimes. 🙂

🙂Keep singing, honey, you won't get off that easy. 😁

btw... when we get to voting, I'm gonna turn this discussion into stories so you're all competing against each other. I'll offer it as an option if you guys are down. 😉

briskwalker10 said:Preach!

I don't. 😁

It’s subjective, really. It all comes down to someone's past, their traumas, whatever.

Personally, I'm an egalitarian. I don't see men and women as separate categories. I just see people. And let's be real: humans are competitive animals. It's baked into our DNA, regardless of gender. The only difference is that women tend to be more subtle and sophisticated about their "wars," which actually makes it worse because you think there's some deeper complexity when it's just basic instinct.

Fine, you don't divide, but I do. 😁
Maybe it's due to my own experiences. None of us are immune to how we were raised, myself included. I'm not some chauvinist unless someone practically forces me to be one.
But staying on the topic of the struggle—yeah, I will always fight on the side of women. I didn't just wake up and pick a side. We are two sides of the same coin, and things play out differently depending on where you stand.
I want a world full of women who are unapologetically themselves—happy in their own skin and completely independent, holding the strings to their own complicated lives.
We can pretend we've made progress, talk about how enlightened modern thought is or how much "freedom" we have, but any quick look at reality proves otherwise. You're an outlier, credit where it's due. And me? As a hopeless optimist, I guess I am too.
People aren't actually moving toward equality. Women try to act masculine, men try to act feminine. That isn't equality; it's just losing your identity.

briskwalker10 said:Yeah. But you can't see it when you're bonded to someone (like a close friend). You think it's forever. You're already picturing them as your maid of honor or your perfect travel buddy for a trip to Florida. But look at how much people change from childhood, yet we keep convincing ourselves this specific connection is the special one. That's just human nature. Maybe evolution wired us this way just so we could handle losing people without breaking completely. Who knows...

Yeah, it's a contradiction most of us deal with. On one hand, you want to make the world a better place. On the other, you see how fickle people are and how much damage they do to the very people trying to help.

I hate talking about "wolf behavior" in a group setting. But I get it. It's probably just evolutionary conditioning.

People who have lost a lot tend to be more cautious about getting attached. But there aren't really any rules. If you stop expecting things, you might actually surprise yourself overnight.
As a woman, I'd love to believe there's a world full of strong, cohesive women. It's a utopia, I know, but men don't hurt me in quite the same way. 🤷

Walter Baker2 said:Michelle Bennett14, those old timers are right—calm down. You can't fix everything. At most, you can try to make life comfortable for yourself. Just be more selective about who you let in. Watch, listen...

Thanks for the advice. 🙂

The struggle of roosters, jealous women, insulted men, the submissive, the immature, the strong and the weak... what’s truly the worst part? I asked myself in my infinite wisdom (every bit of irony here is intentional).
My Castor and Pollux are usually enough to keep themselves busy with their own struggle, much like my sun and moon, a fire constantly fed by her breath. Plus, with Mars sitting right there in that Leo 🥳, as the old timers say, it’s a situation where Cat is hitting her head against a brick wall until the wall finally gives way... I've got plenty of will and grit.
Look, I'm an egoist 😁, so my struggles are always centered on me, myself, and I. After living through what feels like centuries in this fragile world, you realize people are basically just scenery—replaceable, disposable, and not worth getting attached to. The idea of casting pearls before swine haunts me... we give our best to a world that can't see past its own selfishness and weakness.
With my limited mental capacity, regardless of religious or national identity, what really gets under my skin is when a woman acts like a wolf toward another woman 😁
image

Men tend to spot strength and pick the weak ones. That's just evolution. Or maybe it's just cowardice, I don't know, though so far I've been blessed with a full suitcase of cowards.
I fight to ensure I'm not defined by my body, because let's face it, there's no such thing as an "attractive wise old lady," and as the years pile up, I can only run away in stupid ways. I want to live life fully before my physical limits trap me, before I hit a moment where I say, "I could have, but whatever..." Besides, boobs aren't what define Lara Croft, right?
It’s not being deep to say I despise anyone just because they’re prettier, hotter, or younger. That’s on me, I guess; I'm imperfect. I can't buy into the argument that someone is "cool" just because they have the same hair color, eyes, or zodiac sign as me (though Geminis are the best) while simultaneously ignoring the fact that the person is a total psychopath.
I just don't get the urge to constantly hunt for someone else's weaknesses just to put them down, or dig for flaws just to insult them, acting like a total jerk to others while thinking I'm some kind of saint.
My words reflect what my heart is full of. In mine, I'm fighting to keep out the filth of this nasty everyday life.
This whole bit about Catameš doesn't stem from ancient Babylon or have any grand purpose.
Basically, Milo started and finished the topic in a haiku style, so I'm just trying to kill some time and stretch this out for a few more days. 🤷
One last bit of wisdom before I go...

The only thing worth fighting for is being yourself. Nothing is more attractive than being unique; clones—at least in terms of empires—all look exactly the same.
And my favorite quote, which I can't for the life of me remember where I read:

You guys are the best 😁 Milo, can you expand a bit on how to find peace in this world 🙂, and Walter Baker2, how do we handle the struggle for Lou?
Anyway 👍 I honestly have no clue what else to say 🕺

Thanks to my voters, love, Cat. Here’s the new topic.
Deadline is August 30th. I’ll be dropping one of my own little struggles 😁

Photos, art, writing... whatever you're into. Even a recording works.
Struggle... honestly, there's been so much of it lately, it's the first thing on my mind.
The struggle of roosters, tigers, or just random people online. The fights you have over your choices. Fighting for love. Fighting for health. Fighting against things both seen and unseen.
Let’s try to fight for some creativity amidst all this chaos and stay positive in a place that's turned so toxic.
🙂

Jesse Price said:This isn't Philosophy.

But what I wrote in my opening post actually is. It’s a debate your colleague thinks is worthy of being called Philosophy.

And honestly, I couldn't care less if she was half-naked or whatever. I have my reasons for thinking she was, but it's not my problem. Actually, just thinking about the whole thing makes me sick.

First off, I don't even know her.

Second, we're talking about actual Philosophy here, not some random forum hookup drama.

Third, you're the one who turned this into an argument about private hookups and judging some woman's life outside of this site.

Who went off-topic? Doesn't really matter, because you did.

And if you're calling people Incels just because they actually have hope, then what does that make everyone else?

She hooked up with someone just because some random guy sent a DM? Wow.

That's your big argument? And we're supposed to tolerate this? Is this really an intellectual debate worthy of a Philosophy major?
Give me a break...🤦

@ Enchy 👍 all that stuff you wrote about the forum and exchanging ideas and whatever. That only works for actual adults.
This isn't a preschool; it's a flea market where we just throw rotten produce at each other and forget why we even showed up in the first place.

Some guy who keeps pushing his own agenda—not even being offensive, just relentlessly repeating himself—doesn't deserve my pity or the irony. Honestly, his posts are just decent sarcasm, though I don't have the patience to read them all.
If he's got a diagnosis, then what about the cliques that live to troll everyone? Or the people who openly admit they're unstable, act out, and get a standing ovation for it?
George is fighting this battle alone.
Since he's basically as crazy as the rest of the world, I actually kind of like him.

Let that be the future... though honestly, if it was already the past, why not again?

Personally, I love leggings. Too bad I don't have the privilege to wear them myself.

Leggings for everyone.
Drew Lee9 said:Cat, your story is pretty interesting, kind of nostalgic too. It’s like you went back to being a kid again, which I wish I could do, but my mind just doesn't reach that far back.🤷 😁

Looks like I might have to extend the contest deadline, maybe
some people just need more time.🙂

Ugh, thanks... honestly, it's a little sad because it's so gloomy, but this week has just been stuck on loop in my head. It's an anniversary, so please bear with me—I really tried not to make it too depressing.🙂

A story about change

When I was a kid, Cat loved the rain. It never felt cold to me; people were always nagging me to layer up, change clothes, or get warm. I remember gathering all the neighborhood kids to splash around in whatever containers we could find that had filled up with rainwater, right up until our moms, grandmas, aunts, or whoever was babysitting us finally caught up to us.
We were soaked and happy, turning it into one of those core memories. Just the kind of good stuff childhood is supposed to be about.

Now, Cat hates the rain. The smell, the sound, even just the slightest hint that it might start falling.
To me, rain feels like losing things one by one. Like a row of dominoes that, once they’re finally lined up perfectly, suddenly start crashing down in this unstoppable, synchronized mess.
The first few dominoes bring anxiety, then certainty, then habit—and then that one final domino falls, and nothing is ever the same again.
The change itself... if you're looking at it from someone else's perspective, it might seem subtle. I'm not talking about the pain, because honestly, that just becomes a constant companion. I'm talking about how you start viewing every single day from start to finish. You start questioning yourself about things you never gave a thought to before, searching for courage, wondering if you actually have any left.
Every day, through every new experience whether it sucks or it doesn't, you realize how lucky you are to still be standing, even if you're a little more broken than the dominoes that fell. Sometimes, I actually manage to feel grateful for that.
And every time I'm standing there by a candle, making some sort of offering in our little ritual, I decide to just stand tall under the sky, no matter what kind of rain or fury it decides to throw my way.
Milton and Mia are my favorites 😁 You guys are all 👍
