I’ve been watching a lot of roster construction lately, and I can't help but feel like we're obsessed with the idea of the "Swiss Army Knife" player. Every time a new talent comes into the league, the narrative immediately shifts to how many different positions they can cover or how "flexible" they are.

Don't get me wrong, having guys who can plug holes is great for depth, but I worry we're setting young players up for a weird kind of burnout. There’s a fine line between being a valuable asset and being a jack-of-all-trades who never actually gets the chance to master a single role. I remember watching a few years back when a highly touted prospect was moved around so much that he never really found his rhythm, and he just kind of faded into obscurity.

Do you think it's better for a rookie to specialize early and become elite at one specific thing, or is the versatility worth the risk of being a "placeholder" for the rest of their career?

Hey 🙂
Can I request a nickname change from Taylor Swift to Taylor Swift?

Hi there. 🙂
Go ahead, though Taylor Swift is actuallye already taken. You'll need to check in with New Orleans about that one. 🙂
