It's them. This is going to be pure madness. I’ve got everything laid out perfectly, and honestly, it’s just as wild as Go Team! ...!!!

We'll hold off on the predictions until right before qual. This is basically just a fun way to pool some cash anyway. The first part kicks off soon!

The grid is capped at 10 teams (sign-ups).
Go Team! in Formula 1 ·
Qualifying:

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Vettel
4. Kimi Raikkonen
5. Daniel Ricciardo
6. Max
7. Perez
8. Ocon
9. Carlos Sainz
10. Fernando Alonso

Race:

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Vettel
4. Kimi Raikkonen
5. Daniel Ricciardo
6. Max
7. Perez
8. Ocon
9. Felipe Massa
10. Carlos Sainz

Come on, don't mess around—this is just a guess, but we need to test it. So, I’m asking you to set up the predictions like above for the Canadian Grand Prix to secure the budget. We can deal with the rest later.

Is there any point in me wasting my time continuing this?! 😁

1. Lewis Hamilton 6 pts
2. Sebastian Vettel 5 pts
3. Valtteri Bottas 4 pts
4. Kimi Raikkonen 3 pts
5. Daniel Ricciardo 3 pts
6. Max Verstappen 3 pts
7. Sergio Perez 2 pts
8. Ocon 2 pts
9. Felipe Massa 2 pts
10. Stroll 1 pt
11. Carlos Sainz 1 pt
12. Kvyatt 1 pt
13. Romain Grosjean 1 pt
14. Fernando Alonso 1 pt
15. Nico Hulkenberg 1 pt
16. Marcus Ericsson 1 pt
17. Pascal Wehrlein 1 pt
18. Kevin Magnussen 1 pt
19. Vandoorne 1 pt
20. Jolyon Palmer 1 pt

TEAM:

1. Mercedes 1 pt
2. Ferrari 4 pts
3. Red Bull Racing Tag Heuer 6 pts
4. Force India Mercedes 6 pts
5. Williams Mercedes 4 pts
6. Toro Rosso 5 pts
7. Haas Ferrari 3 pts
8. Renault 3 pts
9. Sauber Ferrari 2 pts
10. McLaren Honda 2 pts

Basically, you use the points earned at the Canadian Grand Prix to buy your drivers, engine, and chassis. Rule is everyone has to be unique—meaning different engines and drivers—and your chosen drivers can't belong to the chassis team you picked. Total points can't exceed the budget.

Example: At the Canadian Grand Prix, 31 points were scored.

Picking the engine first: (based on podium order from the Belgian Grand Prix and subsequent races)

ENGINE

1. Lewis Hamilton 6
2. Sebastian Vettel 5
3. Kimi Raikkonen 3

(14 pts)

CHASSIS (Can't be The Bear or Ferrari)

1. RB 6
2. Renault 3
3. Haas 3

(12 pts)

TIRES (Freebies—this part can change every race)

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Sebastian Vettel
3. Valtteri Bottas
4. Kimi Raikkonen
5. Max

DRIVERS: (Can't pick drivers already used in the engine or those tied to the chassis team)

No. 1 Valtteri Bottas 4 pts
No. 2 Carlos Sainz 1 pt

(5 pts)

Total engine+chassis+drivers = 31 pts, which hits the budget limit.

There are some finer details later on, but it's not complicated.
So, you need to submit your prediction for the Canadian Grand Prix using the top 10 from qualifying and the race. Accumulate the largest possible budget and build your prediction based on the rules above. The tire portion is flexible; engine, chassis, and drivers are fixed.

SCORING:

"The Good Guys"

ENGINE:
1 .Lewis Hamilton 25
2. Sebastian Vettel 18
3. Bottas 15

5 points if you nail the driver but miss the exact rank

CHASSIS:
1 .Ferrari 25
2 .F1 Ferrari Renault 18
3 .Renault 15

5 points if you nail the team but miss the exact rank

TIRES:
1. Lewis Hamilton 25
2. Sebastian Vettel 18
3. Bottas 15
4. Kimi Raikkonen 12
5. Max 10

5 points if you nail the driver but miss the exact rank

DRIVERS
No. 1 Carlos Sainz
No. 2 Daniel Ricciardo

Whatever points they score in the race is what you get for your prediction.
At the end, all points are tallied—that determines the standings starting from the Belgian Grand Prix.

Budget is only awarded during the first race; use it to build your car and buy drivers. Driver prices coming in the next post.

So, here’s the initial forecast for the Canadian Grand Prix—which also serves as the tournament entry. It covers the top ten from both qualifying and the race. Once you’ve secured your budget (capped at 40 pts), you get the summer break to build your car and pick the drivers who'll be behind the wheel.

Format your forecast like this:

Your team name...

"Good Guys"

ENGINE:
1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Sebastian Vettel
3. Bottas

CHASSIS:
1. Ferrari
2. F1 Ferrari Renault
3. Renault

TIRES:
1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Sebastian Vettel
3. Bottas
4. Kimi Raikkonen
5. Max

DRIVERS
No. 1 Carlos Sainz
No. 2 Daniel Ricciardo

Note: Tire forecasts can change every race if you want, though they don't have to.

One rule: You can't pick drivers listed under "Drivers" if they've already been used individually or as part of a team elsewhere in your forecast. Basically, you can't pick Lewis Hamilton to drive if he's already been used as part of your ENGINE selection. Same goes for not picking Nico Hulkenberg if he's already tucked away in your CHASSIS under Renault.

I'll show how to pull this all together into a solid strategy in the next post.

🙂

Let's run a little game to keep things interesting—part knowledge, part intuition, and mostly just messing around.

The goal is to build the best possible car for the rest of the season using this method.
For the Canadian Grand Prix, you’ll predict the top 10 for both qualifying and the race. You get 2 points for every exact position hit, plus 1 point if you correctly pick a driver who finishes in the top 10... regardless of their specific spot.
Your total points become your budget for building your car and buying drivers for the remainder of the season.

We're using actual Formula 1 drivers, and here is how you assemble the car.

A car consists of an engine, a chassis, and tires.
To get your engine, predict the podium finishers for the rest of the season. For every driver you nail on the podium, you get points equal to their race finish: 25/18/15. If you miss the podium but guess the right driver, you get 5 points.
To actually finish a race, your engine needs to accumulate at least 10 points.

The chassis comes from predicting the other 7 drivers who score points.
Specifically, you’re picking which three teams will score the most constructor points between 4th and 10th place.

For example...

Force India Mercedes
Ferrari
Renault

...and the scoring works exactly like the first rule.

Tires

Tires are your direct strategic move for each race. You predict the top five from practice sessions. If you nail a driver, you get points based on where they would have finished in the race: 25/18/15/12/10.

That tire part changes every round, but your drivers, engine, and chassis picks stay fixed.

Drivers.
Pick your 1st and 2nd drivers for your team.

You'll "buy" them in the next post. Doing all this from my phone.

William Bennett53, briskhound76, and I are all tied up at 40 points—it’s going to come down to a tiebreaker to see who actually makes the podium. But if wo can't pull the numbers, I think he was pretty spot on with those unofficial results for Kyle Edwards5 a few seasons back. So, Kyle Edwards5, if you don't mind... 🙏

God, you guys are boring. 🤣
Such an intense race, so much actual substance to talk about, yet all you can focus on is Ham and Seb. So what if they clashed? Does it really matter if Ham was penalized or if Seb took him out on purpose? We're talking about two absolute legends who have hauled in seven championships over the last nine seasons. They sit second and fourth on the all-time wins list, and between them, they’ve got over 210 podiums.

Penalties? Conspiracies? Please. Drivers like them always got a pass back in the day—we should just be happy to finally see them going head-to-head for the title.

It's always "FIA this" and "FIA that"... honestly, they're just kicking each other in the teeth because we finally have an unpredictable season. This bickering between Seb and Ham is just the icing on the cake. As for penalties... they'll probably just penalize some mid-fielders like Magnussen or Hulkenberg instead.

I can't make it to Austria—well, I could, but my whole family would kill me. I'm heading to Monza, though, so there's plenty of time for us to work something out. You guys figure out your plans for Austria. Good luck.

THAT’S 4 SO FAR. If we haven't pulled this together by this Saturday, then it's not happening. 😢

I'm down too, though personally, I think Monza is the better call. More logistics can be handled there. A lot of people are already headed to the coast or have their summer plans set. Let's hit Monza—if Propeti manages to hold his line against Mečko, it'll be epic. I can handle organizing a minibus or a van depending on the headcount. I'll round up the Americans, head to the garage in New York, then hit Philly and cross the border.
