The radio definitely reads USB sticks—I know that much—but I’m just not sure if the hardware will actually recognize an SD card tucked inside an adapter as a standard thumb drive. It's one of those "maybe" situations.

I’ve got a handful of old SD cards lying around and I’m trying to figure out how to actually use them—specifically by popping them into a USB adapter so I can play some MP3s through my car stereo.
I’ve been scrolling through eBay and there are a ton of these little gadgets, but most of them are listed as standard card readers meant for plugging into a PC. That leaves me wondering: will they actually work as an SD-to-USB bridge? Basically, if I shove an SD card into one of these, will my car's head unit just see it as a regular thumb drive?
For instance, would this or maybe this
do the trick?
If those aren't what I'm looking for, please hit me with a recommendation—maybe an eBay link for a specific adapter that lets me treat an SD card like a standard USB stick for the car.

I’m on the hunt for a decent remote for my PC—specifically looking to control Windows Media Center (running on Win7). I really dig the look of the Logitech Multimedia remote with keyboard, for instance. That said, I’m totally open to a more traditional-style remote too—you know, the classic handheld kind without a trackball or a full keyboard—as long as it has dedicated function keys for navigating the media center. I remember seeing some old iMON gear floating around back in the day, which was pretty cool. Honestly, I’m open to any and all suggestions. It doesn't even matter if it's available locally; if I have to hunt it down on eBay, then so be it. 🙂
Alright, here’s the deal—I’m messing around with this USB card reader that plugs directly into my PC. I can’t quite pin down the exact brand off the top of my head—I think it might be a Sweex model, if I recall correctly.
The headache is this: whenever I pop in an 8GB SDHC card, the little indicator light shifts from green to orange—which tells me the device actually "sees" that something was inserted—but then nothing happens. My computer just acts like it’s totally oblivious; there’s absolutely nothing showing up in File Explorer.
Is it even possible that this thing just isn't compatible with the SDHC standard? It seems to handle old-school SD cards just fine, but the newer stuff is a no-go. To be clear, the card itself is perfectly healthy—I already tested it in my camera and it works without a hitch.
