But nothing happens. It's still the same nonsense, the same childish behavior.

Then some abuser jumps in, flames everything in sight, trolls everyone, and suddenly the entire thread vanishes—which is exactly what the saboteur wanted to happen!?! 😕🤷
It's impossible to follow or participate seriously on such a chaotic forum. 😢 😁

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they should be sanctioned. Personally, I don't think this is necessary. Besides, the user being quoted has already racked up plenty of warnings and a ban, so he isn't getting any special treatment.

The response was full of insults, so the sanction stands.

On the flip side, you could have been sanctioned for your response, Aries, but you weren't.

In short, it depends on the topic, the situation, and previous interactions... though sometimes less-than-ideal reasons—like having too few mods (lack of time or just lack of motivation)—play a part, rather than playing favorites.

You asked for specifics. Here is a prime example of the selective moderation happening over on the "alternative" board.

Direct insults and belittling other users? Absolutely zero consequences.

Repeated provocations? No sanctions applied.

A simple response? Instant sanction.

Insulting fellow users? Nothing happens.

Constant baiting, humiliation, and verbal abuse—yet there are no penalties whatsoever.

Verbal attacks, trolling, and spamming senseless images.

Even in the subsequent threads, there is total inaction from mod oversight.

The notorious trolling from that one infamous troll on the "alternative" section—again, no action taken.

Insults, condescension, and patronizing behavior; zero sanctions.

It is frankly disgraceful and utterly nonsensical. We have pure trolling from an individual who labeled anyone disagreeing with his ideology as "fascists" or "monsters," and even went so far as to characterize the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as a humanitarian act—all without receiving a single sanction. Is that clear enough?

This is merely a fraction of the issue, even considering the links you already possess. For now. Thank you.

Like I said, they aren't being sanctioned. We can delete posts if we find a good reason, but there's no way we're going to spend months or years digging through old threads for that purpose.

That is exactly what I have been harping on about this entire time—"your call." Precisely! And who is going to challenge that? Absolutely no one.

The threads I am referring to are from the last few days, maybe a month or two at most. We aren't talking about archives from years ago.
You are essentially permitting trolling, and you dodged that point entirely. That is why those kinds of threads are still hanging around.
Furthermore, when posts get reported, you dodge the actual sanctions. Instead of handing out bans to users you don't want to penalize, you just wipe their post and move on. It's a convenient way to keep things "flowing."
Let me say this once more: even a blind man can see exactly what is happening here.

You, Mark, Stanley... you were the one who opened and closed that thread. Ever since you stepped up as a moderator, you have engaged in nothing but selective disciplinary action against specific members. It is blatantly obvious to anyone with eyes. Many people have stopped posting or have faced long-term bans because of this very behavior.
It is patently clear that you refuse to issue the same 'warnings' to those who repeatedly troll and incite conflict through persistent provocation. Even after warnings, the same individuals are reported. This is selective, condescending moderation.

The fact that you were appointed moderator 'later' does not excuse the fact that you continue to allow old, offensive, and inflammatory posts from certain 'Brothers' and similar provocateurs—people who call others fascists, monsters, or lunatics, inciting racial and every other kind of hate. Your lack of status during that period of 'lawlessness' does not grant you amnesty from the duty to react, oppose, or whatever euphemism you prefer to use. Silence is almost always interpreted as complicity.

Ever since you "hired" that moderator, bluemason3, he’s been relentlessly targeting the long-standing members who represent the "alternative" side of things and hold dissenting views. He’s practically hunting them down with penalties—myself included ( simultaneously turning a complete deaf ear (both him and the rest of the staff) to actual reports regarding trolls (take this one, for instance: It’s reached a point where many people have either been banned outright or simply walked away from contributing altogether after being slapped with undeserved strikes.
The other moderators, like unknown for example, are rendered completely powerless. They just sit there like bystanders, watching the chaos unfold. This guy actually shut down the "Mystery" sub-forum under the pretense that it was too cluttered and "difficult" for him to manage. After a wave of complaints, he even deleted his own thread regarding that decision.
It is glaringly obvious that there are no established criteria and absolutely no sense of professional conduct here. Before he stepped into this role, he never once spoke up against the spread of hate speech coming from the "alternative" crowd. In fact, unless I personally reached out to the admin present here, those types would never have received a single ban or warning. Now, those very same users are back in full force. They are spreading vitriol, provoking arguments, and trolling with their most insidious jokes. Yet, the moderator just lets it all slide while aggressively driving away the people he can't stand. He even had the audacity to mock us, asking, "well, what even is an 'alternativist'?" when people called him out for killing the mystery section.

Perhaps you should just scrap this entire "alternative" faction entirely? Since its existence seems to be so incomprehensible to management.

Do what you want; everyone is entitled to their own business. However, that is precisely the core issue within this so-called "alternative" scene. Due to a lack of moderation in threads that supposedly allow for an "alternative" perspective, we have a multitude of individuals who possess absolutely no self-control regarding their freedom of speech. Because they have far too much time on their hands, they frequent spaces where they clearly do not belong, driven by the singular, transparent goal of provocation.
As a result, we see messages like this from the individual in question, who feels slighted because most people simply ignore him after his repeated attempts to stir the pot:
", just deal with it along with all your garbage"

"The 'garbage' treated me with the exact same level of respect, so I consider myself well within my rights to call them that. In fact, that lot put me on their ignore list "

", though his followers later joined in, turning against me..."

Poor guy, all alone in the world. It's pathetic.

We also had that fellow here who was kicked out today, the one who spent most of his time labeling everyone as neo-Nazis or fascists. He went on like that all summer:

A completely misunderstood and lost wretch in the digital landscape. Everyone loathes him, and he has no idea what to do with himself. Now that he's finally received what looks to be his first red card for this behavior, he is absolutely losing it:
"There, how am I supposed to talk to monsters like 'chembro' when he treats all of this as a joke?"

Exactly—it’s "generalized." In reality, it is nothing more than a lazy, inaccurate attempt to shove everyone into one single bucket. Those who find it offensive already harbor enough animosity toward others to throw them into a furnace. This isn't merely about expressing an opinion.
If someone writes something like this on a thread that—let's be honest—isn't meant to be a platform for spreading hate or advocating for book burnings (we all know how those historical atrocities played out!), then I'll concede the point. I'll admit my objection was a mistake.

In that case, let this so-called "alternative" space continue to exist without any moderation whatsoever. As for anyone who thinks differently? They can pack up and move... wherever they please. The internet is vast enough. 🙂

Because this PDF sub has been flying without any moderator oversight for quite some time now, plenty of users have basically "grown wings," using this specific space as a dumping ground for their frustrations and an excuse to pick fights.
Here is one recent example of that descent into madness: Burning the Quran, the Bible, Unix for Dummies... good grief. It’s just a book, people. A collection of paper and ink. So what if someone sets fire to one? The people who find offense in such acts likely despise the perpetrators enough to toss them into a high-heat industrial furnace anyway.

I am not disputing anyone's right to hold whatever opinions they please—as long as they stay within the privacy of their own four walls and debate those views with their own families—but this kind of garbage keeps surfacing on a loop. After a post like that, how is someone who is genuinely offended by the public burning of religious or historical texts supposed to react without looking like a literal furnace worker?!

Oh boy... we still don't even know what motherboard you're running, what the specific audio chipset is, or what the situation was during the initial Windows 7 installation. Did the installer give you a warning that it wasn't supported? Did you perform an upgrade or a clean install? And which program did you download—which specific drivers, and for which OS version specifically???

Regardless, Windows 7 definitely does not support that audio chipset. The most logical conclusion is that you need a new sound card that actually comes with Windows 7 drivers, or at least has them included in the box.
I'd suggest looking into a decent, budget-friendly external one.

Well, what does your Device Manager say? Is it listed there at all? If it’s missing entirely, you need to dive into your BIOS > Sound on board (or something similar) > Enable!

DirectX 11 is essentially software and a core component of Windows 7, so that's simply how it reports itself. How much actual performance your specific card can squeeze out of it depends entirely on its own capabilities and the rest of your hardware setup.
My laptop shows the same thing with its integrated Intel 3100 gfx, 😁

Anyway, back to the point. It honestly baffles me how people constantly moan about how everything new is broken, yet you never hear a single soul mention that they actually took the time to send a piece of "Feedback" to Microsoft—especially during the development of this latest OS. They practically rolled out the red carpet for experienced tech enthusiasts to weigh in during that six-month Beta period.

Or, if I’m being honest, I just don't see anyone doing it.
Personally, I sent them a complaint regarding drivers for some legacy hardware. Of course, they hit me with the standard line that I should contact the manufacturer instead, which is perfectly logical.
However, it would also be perfectly reasonable for them to actually listen to critiques and suggestions regarding minor UI tweaks, like how programs minimize and such. On certain international forums, there was talk that they were actually addressing those issues. But here? Nobody seems to say anything about making those kinds of suggestions. It’s strange, given how things usually work.

Then again, it strikes me as equally bizarre how everyone is so quick to nitpick the small stuff while completely ignoring all the advantages of Windows 7. Is it overpriced? Absolutely. I think I dedicated my very first posts on this forum to that exact argument. But since most people in this country are running pirated copies anyway, it’s all the more ridiculous to hear people complaining about the price of something they didn't even pay for.

And just so there is no confusion: I own a legitimate license. I’ve mentioned this before, and I managed to snag mine for a fraction of the retail cost thanks to an HP upgrade program.
