Grace Flores80 said:Look, I’m not trying to push this specific setup on anyone—if you know a build that actually flows better together, just lay it on me. I basically just found this list online and threw it together because I was trying to stay under $1667, mostly because I have zero clue if these parts even play nice with each other. Seriously, tell me what you think the move should be. 🙂

this one from Kimberly Gomez34 in post 6.

Grace Flores80 said:Hey, if you don't mind me asking, could you point me toward a motherboard that actually works with this Intel Core i7-8700K, s. LGA 1156, 4.0 GHz, 16MB cache, Octa-core setup? I'm looking to build this rig mostly for gaming, so if you happen to have any other killer configurations in mind for around $1667, please just lay them on me. My big goal is to have a machine that can crush newer titles without breaking a sweat for the next few years—I'm talking stuff like The Witcher III, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Grand Theft Auto V, and things like that.

People like you aren't even here for advice; you just want to do things your own way without taking the time to actually read what's posted on the forum. You were given a suggestion for a CPU and a board, but you're insisting on your own path—that FX 8350 is just a waste of money.😵

Over in my neck of the woods, you can find i5 processors for the LGA 1156 socket on sites like Newegg for about $100, and honestly, they hold their own against those AMD FX chips.

Paying almost $667 for a card that performs slightly better, especially since those latest AMD Radeon RX series drivers dropped, is 🤦🤦

Just run some tests.

I agree, upgrading from an HD 6870 to a GTX 950 isn't worth the money.

Since you're running an HD 6870 that pulls about 150W at peak, $500 most modern cards are much more efficient, so you shouldn't need to upgrade your power supply.

The NVIDIA GTX 960 might cause a bit of a bottleneck with your CPU, but I wouldn't recommend going any lower than that.

Grab this one. It’s an older game, so with the integrated graphics, it’ll absolutely fly. Plus, you get local service in San Francisco and a 36-month warranty.

In my opinion, this is the best solution.

Just to reiterate, the Nvidia 960, 970 and 980 series running After Effects 👎
Hey, here’s the one you were asking about $133
It’s well-written, but there isn't anything left at that price point anymore...

1) Pentium (R) Dual - Core E 5700 3.00 Ghz
2) Intel Core 2 duo E7300 2
3) Intel Core 2 duo E7500
4) AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200
5) AMD Athlon ii X2 B22 2x 2.8 GHz (Dual-Core)
6) Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2220 2 x 2.4 GHz 7
7) Intel Pentium Dual-Core G620 2 x 2.6

I'm looking at some used computer listings featuring these CPUs. I just need it for browsing the web. My main priority is making sure YouTube runs smoothly without lagging.
Thanks for any help.

Just grab the G620. The others aren't even worth considering.

It’s just DDR2, and there's plenty of it available
As for the GPU, even this might be overkill for that CPU

Adam Moore3 said:Look, you're basically throwing money down the drain on a setup that won't actually give you any real performance boost in games. Honestly, there's zero noticeable difference between that high-end combo and just grabbing an i5 4460 paired with a decent H97 or B85 motherboard. If you're dead set on overclocking, then sure, go for it, but if you want to be smart with your budget, stick to the basic 4460 and a solid H97 board. You could save enough cash to grab a beer every single day for a long time instead. 🙂

he already has a great cooler ready to go for a 4460... lol
