I honestly don’t know if it’s even worth the mental breakdown you get over hair.
Like, one minute you’re all, “Oh my god... I look so damn good...” then suddenly, “Wait, wait... did it actually grow enough? Is this thing even working?”
“I’ve got hair down to my butt, I’m basically vibrating on six different dimensions right now.”
“But man, I look like a total antenna.”

Let me tell you a story;

My dad spent a few years living in India.
He spent over a year tucked away in this ashram—basically a training center—in Varanasi, plus some tiny little village deep in Bihar (he was constantly bouncing between Varanasi and the locals... just to be specific).
One day he’d be in Varanasi, the next he’d be in that village (which was like a 15 or 16-hour trek from Varanasi; part train, part hanging off the roof of a local bus, and finally, about 13km of hiking through the middle of nowhere... just to reach this remote meditation spot/village). It was basically three or four mud huts where they’d smear cow dung on the dirt floors every single day just to keep things steady, tucked into some forest by a river where tigers actually lived—no joke.
For real.
In that training center (split between those two spots), people were training to become Tantric Sadhus.
You know the vibe; all that chanting, ritual stuff, and whatnot...
A little bit of this, a little bit of that, just so nobody gets bored.
The craziest part? They didn't take Westerners. So my old man was basically one of the last Mohicans there, along with maybe three other hardcore Western freaks/seekers who dropped everything to go "searching" and somehow stumbled upon this place while wandering through India.
Besides them, there weren't any other Westerners.
Mainly because nobody really spoke English there.
To even function, you had to at least understand Bengali or Hindi... whatever.
It was mostly a younger crowd staying there, people in their early 20s who were dead serious about checking out of the secular world.
Anyone older could stay for a short stint, but you couldn't live there long-term.
As they say; “strike while the iron is hot,” or something like that.
The whole center was run by this old Tantric Acharya—a pretty intense guy, probably around 70—and living there was anything but easy.
Partly because of how little there was (the poverty they had to endure was intense, even by Indian standards), and partly because of the iron-fisted discipline required by the head of the ashram, who’d fix any disobedience by cracking a stick across your back.
If you couldn't hack it, you were out.
Food was scarce—mostly whatever you could scavenge and cook up in a clay pot over a fire you started yourself. You basically had one pair of loose pants, one rag you’d wash every day with a scrap of soap at a tap, and one small orange cloth to wrap yourself in during the evenings.
That was it.
On top of all that, there was endless meditation, singing Kirtan, sleeping on the bare dirt or a basic mat... all for the sole purpose of mastering certain Tantric techniques and lessons.
And there was tons of learning... memorizing various Sutras by heart, which the boss—with his lightning-fast staff and sharp eyes—would interpret... I won't even list them all.
So, anyway;
Everyone in this Tantric training "center" had to let their hair and beard grow wild.
No restrictions at all.
Because of that, every single one of them looked like some terrifying Tantric warrior from the Stone Age.
Just totally keyed up on the Tantric vibe, practically naked and barefoot, with long hair and untamed beards, wrapped in nothing but scraps of cloth.
Tradition, I guess. Heh.
The hair and beard had to be washed with soap four times a day, before every meditation, and after that, you'd rub coconut oil into it until the hair and beard were as shiny as a baby's butt.
The darker your hair was, the more it stood out.
My dad told me that, never before or since, had he ever been cleaner or more washed up in his life—even though he was living in the most stripped-down, objectively grimiest conditions he’d ever seen on the face of the Earth... at least from his perspective.
So, anyway...
Man, time just flew by. Between all that heavy Tantra sessions and trying to soak up every bit of those lessons... it was wild. But honestly? It felt like it was happening in slow motion too. All those solid, real people—the ones who were out there every single day putting in the work, scrubbing away, and constantly dousing themselves in coconut oil... their beards just started growing exponentially. Slow and steady, you know? Just constant growth.
Man, the more those weeds grew, the more they just seemed to hunger for space, I swear to God... just proudly squeezing out everything else and letting themselves flutter around wildly in the wind.
Like flags... just drifting there. Honestly, it reminds me of that one summer I spent driving through the Midwest, just seeing nothing but endless cornfields and those faded little roadside flags fluttering in the wind. It’s kind of a vibe, you know? But also kinda pointless if you think about it too long. Just waving around for nobody.
Or even better;
You ever see those guys who start getting all "bodybuilder" on you? It’s like, they walk around acting all "oh, I just threw this on, totally didn't think about it," wearing these insanely thin, tight short-sleeve tees... basically performing this whole act of being completely uninterested in fashion. But don't let the act fool you. They’re doing it on purpose, making sure they stroll right through the busiest part of downtown where everyone can see them. It's such a move.
That fake-ass "oh, I'm just casually strolling by, totally indifferent to what I'm wearing" vibe? It’s absolute garbage. You can smell that forced nonchalance from a mile away. It’s like someone trying way too hard to look like they didn't try at all, which—ironically—is the most obvious tell ever. Honestly, once you encounter that kind of pretentiousness, it just sticks to you. It lingers in the air like bad cologne for days. Just total trash.
It’s honestly exactly like that in the Tantric world too. It starts out so subtle, you don't even notice it happening—just bit by bit, little by little. They come at you with those shimmering eyes and that smooth, melodic voice, and before you know it, you're caught in the whole cosmic trap.
It’s honestly wild how much a person can be objectively, undeniably screwed—like, actually living in total misery, owning nothing but a couple of pairs of raggedy pants—and yet still feel like absolute garbage just because they’re sleeping on a hard floor or sitting still for hours on end. It’s crazy. Plus, if you’ve got hair and a beard looking like that little dwarf from Snow White—you know, the one that actually strikes terror into the hearts of the poor folks begging for scraps every single day? Man, it just messes with your head. Just makes everything feel ten times heavier than it already is.
My old man always tells me, "Look, if you haven't lived through it yourself, there's no way on earth you'd ever truly get it." And honestly? He’s probably right. It's like trying to explain the taste of a greasy cheeseburger from In-N-Out to someone who's only ever eaten boiled kale. You just can't. Some things you have to feel in your gut before they actually click.
So, there they were. One day, right at the peak of their whole hair and beard glory—basically when they were deep in the thick of all that tantra, mantra, and chakra-cleansing nonsense—they finally snapped out of it. They’d just finished hours of meditation and some half-baked lessons, totally zonked out, just sitting there waiting to hear some profound wisdom from the old head of the center. This guy was basically their best bud; they’d hang out with him every single day, just shooting the breeze and messing around like old friends. And then, out of nowhere, they got hit with a total curveball.
The old guy just sat there for a while, man. Totally silent. He was just scanning the room, watching everyone who was down on the floor practicing their lotus position... just taking it all in.
There's about 30 of them.
He was gripping that cane like it was some kind of royal scepter, holding it vertical against the ground—you know, that power move. He kept scanning the room, his eyes darting from one spot to the next, just restless. It looked like he was searching for something specific... or maybe he was just trying to see right through everything.
Just a few minutes...
It was pretty damn obvious from the jump that something was eating at him. You could just tell things weren't gonna go smoothly that day—nothing was gonna follow the usual routine, you know? Everything was just... off.
Finally, someone actually had the guts to ask the real question: "is everything even okay...!?"
Old man just blurted out a hard "No!" like he was firing a shotgun.
Look, I’m serious. By the end of the day, everyone needs to shave their damn beards and chop all that hair off. Honestly? You guys look absolutely moronic with all that junk hanging off your faces. It's embarrassing.
Ugh, just... ugh. Seriously.
WTF...!? Seriously?
What does he even mean by "cut her hair"!? Seriously?
"That’s just not tantric... you know what I mean!?"
"Everyone's in, one by one," the old man repeats.
And just like they were told, that's exactly what they did. No questions asked.
Every single one of you.
Took forever, man. Honestly, they were working with one pair of old, dull-ass scissors that couldn't cut through butter, let alone whatever they were trying to do. Total waste of time.
Since they had to hack their own hair off, everyone ended up looking like a bunch of freshly shorn sheep. Honestly, just a total mess.
I mean, seriously, they weren't even allowed to use a razor—not that they actually had one to use anyway... all they could do was hack away with some shears, just doing whatever little bit of trimming they thought they knew how to do. It was a total mess.
Whatever.
The funniest part was honestly just watching my old man deal with that massive sense of loss back then. It was wild.
He’s basically saying he felt like someone was snatching his favorite toy right out from under him. Just total violation, you know?
Man, I don't even want to get into that soul-crushing sense of shame that just absolutely leveled him. It was like a punch to the gut. He had to actually step out there and beg for food that day—because back then, you only ate whatever you managed to scavenge or ask for. Just total humiliation.
Back in the day, I was king of the street performers—hair flowing wild, beard looking all glossy from that coconut oil I used. I felt like an absolute legend. But now? Man, I feel like a total bum. Just some guy standing there while those self-righteous losers look right through me like I don't even exist. It’s pathetic, honestly.
It’s just this constant, nagging realization that I'm gonna feel totally exposed to the world for days—like, until my hair and beard actually start growing back—and honestly, it just makes the whole awkward vibe even worse.
It’s honestly wild—like, some kind of freak miracle or whatever—but everything else just feels better now. I mean, specifically looking at the actual practice he was doing. It’s like the whole vibe shifted.
So, you seeing this now?! Like, seriously, look at this mess.

My old man just shaved his head today, and honestly? He looks exactly like some guy from *Dancing with the Stars*... you know, one of those guys who takes the whole thing way too seriously. It’s intense. He looks absolutely wild.
Man, that just makes my blood run cold. Seriously.
No matter where we end up, people who don't know him just... they move out of the way. You can see it in their eyes—that weird, uncomfortable vibe like they're trying to dodge a collision with someone they can't quite wrap their heads around. It’s honestly kind of pathetic to watch.
Movies! Man, I could talk about cinema for hours. Honestly, sometimes you just need that perfect flick to shut your brain off after a long day.
Man... honestly? It’s about damn time I go full crazy and just let my hair grow out again.
If he doesn't, he’s gonna walk around thinking he's some kind of tough guy.
It honestly seems like guys with bald heads—just like those damn long-haired types—have this permanent "connection error" in their brains... they just can't seem to sense that incredible, overwhelming sense of Wonder that's supposed to be everywhere, in everything.
From top to bottom.

So much for having hair...

P.S.
Honestly, instead of using hair as some sort of "spiritual antenna," you're better off just using a piece of wire.
Just shove it up your ass and slowly rotate it left and right.
If you get lucky, maybe you'll actually pick up one of the local stations inside your skull on the FM band.
Like, "hey dear listeners, this is NPR... educational programming. We're starting our 'History on Thursdays' show now..." and stuff like that.

Easy Rider (1969) in Movies ·
I know we’ve probably chewed this topic to death on here a hundred times already, but man, this movie is just that good. I could watch it a hundred more times and still be hooked.
It just taps into this weird, almost impossible craving for true inner freedom—that raw, naive kind of longing that you can't really put into words. It’s like trying to grab hold of something you can’t actually touch.
Kind of like chasing your own shadow or trying to outrun the horizon... no matter how hard you push, it stays just out of reach.
But honestly, if you catch this flick when you're in the right headspace, you can't help but want to be an "Easy Rider." You just want to ditch everything, head out into the great unknown, and live for the chaos where you have zero clue what’s coming around the next bend in the road.
Did you guys feel that same vibe when you watched it?
What kind of headspace does it leave you in?

Is it even possible to be an "Easy Rider" nowadays, now that everything feels so hyper-connected and regulated by the system?
image
Are there even any circumstances left for an adventure like that... or is it all just some romanticized pipe dream that's bound to end in a brutal reality check, just like it did in the movie?

Jbote, this stuff is actually incredible;
Mijauu...!!

Some people might think it’s just basic, but if you actually dig a little deeper—like, really scratch beneath the surface instead of just taking it at face value—it’s not as cheap as it looks.
I'm dead serious here.
I mean, I assume the songwriter meant exactly what they were singing about, but the whole vibe (which the writer probably hasn't even realized) hits totally different when you experience it.

You just gotta shift your perspective and properly "let go."
Like... don't listen to the lyrics with your boring, everyday ears. You gotta be more, I don't know, loose? Flowy? Expansive? (Seriously, I'll cut my own head off if anyone laughs at me for saying that).
For example;
Try replacing that whole "femme fatale" concept with the idea of the "sexiness of the world."
The world is sexy... everything in it and all around us is pulling at us, grabbing our attention, playing with our minds... whether we want it to or not, it just forces our inner selves out into the open.

That "Sexiness"—that manifested plane—literally "circles us"... like a cat waiting to pounce.

When you wrap it all up and look at the big picture—we've been played.
Just like a bunch of clueless little mice...
😲

Anyone else in here (besides me;🙂Grrrrr!!!) actually got the guts to try and go toe-to-toe with it?

Michael Gonzalez77,

That little rhyme or quote you’ve got in your signature? It perfectly captures how fleeting everything actually is.
No matter how I look at it, it all points back to that one truth.
If you really sit down and think about it, it’s wild how we basically hypnotize ourselves into believing death is something that happens to "other people"... like it has nothing to do with us, even though we intellectually know everyone dies eventually.
By the time death actually catches up to us, all that stuff we spent our lives stressing over becomes totally irrelevant.
I don't even know how to make that point clearer.
How do you even hit people with that kind of force?

Everyone should be aware of this reality; it changes how you see everything when you view life through the lens of being temporary—inevitable, relentless, and final.
You’ve gotta always keep one eye on what’s waiting for us on the horizon...
Once you do that the right way, everything snaps into perspective instantly.
Whatever it is, whatever you end up doing with that realization in your heart,^ you won't be tied down by the small stuff.
I don't know about the rest of you, but feeling that sense of transience gives me this incredible rush.
It throws me into these intense states of mind;
Everything suddenly feels easy and manageable when viewed "in that light."
Everything feels "new"... suddenly interesting.
In that state of deep inner connection, everything just gets soaked in meaning...
Like, say, when you're walking through a landscape for the last time, knowing you'll never see it again.
It's like you suddenly wake up and notice hundreds of tiny details you would've completely missed before.

Those "levers" that can snap us into spiritual alertness are right there under our noses... they're so easy to use if you want.

You just have to try.

One pretty common thing that pops up during meditation is this loss of "body boundaries."
I guess anyone who’s ever tried to quiet their mind has felt it to some degree.
Personally, I drift into that state quite often—so much so that it actually catches me off guard sometimes during my daily life, just while I'm going about my business.
Back in the day, I had to stop everything just to lean into it, but nowadays I can kind of control it to an extent even while I'm doing stuff (you know, like being half-focused on it while multitasking)...
Even though it happens a lot, it isn't exactly easy to "crank it up" on command... to feel it intensely enough.

I’m talking about that sensation where your body sort of "unhooks" itself from your sense of physical size.
The best way I can put it is that our sense of "being" is usually tied to our body, and we’re super aware of where we end and where the rest of the world begins... but once you quiet down and try to "feel" the infinity of the space you're "submerged" in, anyone would have to experience what I'm talking about;
The feeling hits pretty suddenly (but not violently), and if you can manage to "hold onto it" or focus on it, it starts to build up and get more intense.
It feels like your body has suddenly exploded in size!?
Like you don't feel contained by those same old dimensions anymore.
It's honestly hard to explain coherently.
Basically, it’s not that I got bigger, it’s more like I became tiny inside myself... and it’s like my hands, legs (every single part) feel miles away... like my hands are meters away from my head or my "center."
Like I'm standing dozens of feet above my own limbs, yet at the exact same time, I'm right where I am!?
Such a weird thing to describe; this simultaneous shrinking and expanding within the body (I know it sounds stupid, but anyone who's been there knows exactly what I mean).
As soon as the sensation hits, if you get startled and try to "shake it off," it vanishes.
It comes easily to me, but it took a bit of "practice" to learn how to hold it and make it stronger.
Realistically, you can't just "do it" or keep it going whenever you want.
You have to settle down and stay focused the right way, and the scale of the experience can really trip you out; how the body starts "being" scattered over miles of space with this hard-to-explain feeling of "transparently-tactile infinite smallness"!? (not gonna get into all the details now).
It’s not for the faint of heart because it’s so weird and literally outside the frame of "normal everyday existence"... though personally, regardless of how big it got, I never had any issues (or any real fear) when I was "diving into" it.
Still (I gotta say), over time, this sensation started popping up spontaneously for no reason at all during regular situations.
Like, out of nowhere, it just hits me.
Especially if I'm really inspired by something totally unrelated to daily life and I start drifting off into my thoughts.
But it's easy to "switch off" since, like I said, you have to be calm and zero in on the sensation for it to escalate.
If you don't... the whole thing just dies down fast.
I should also mention that I experienced this for the first time completely by accident when I was a little kid and had a massive fever one time.
It wasn't super intense back then, but it was "that thing I'm talking about," and I felt it clearly—as a "state" that I couldn't make any sense of or explain to myself at the time.
It was like something stepping outside the bounds of anything I’d ever felt before!
Later, when I started experiencing this state spontaneously during moments of inner stillness, I recognized it immediately as "that thing that happened to me back then."

Anyone who has experienced this intensely enough instinctively "knows" that our being (our framework, our "where we start and where we end"... our embodiment as such) is something that goes way beyond the limits of the body, and there’s no way for someone who has lived it to deny that "certainty" or try to measure it or record it in any material way... outside the realm of personal experience.
You just have to live it to get it.
Everything I just went through—all those conclusions I pulled from that experience—doesn't need some deep dive or a manual to explain it.
You just... you just know. You become certain of it instinctively.

ps.
I also want to make one thing clear: this has absolutely nothing to do with those "experiences" people try to fake nowadays using high-tech gadgets. You know the drill—one person wears a GoPro on their head, another puts on some 3D glasses, and then they touch each other to trick someone into feeling this fake "sensory connection" or like they're somewhere far away at the same time.
That's just a cheap illusion. It’s a manufactured sense of being "connected" to what you're seeing, but it doesn't break out of the usual boundaries of everyday reality, no matter how much it might mess with your brain.
That isn't it.
Induced spiritual experiences in Spirituality ·
The brain isn't some fountainhead of consciousness; it’s more like a transceiver—just a radio receiver (and the rest of the body is basically just an extension... like a probe or an antenna).
I’d go as far as saying the brain and body are just this pile of highly organized matter "hanging" onto consciousness... an essence that, without it, wouldn't even be able to exist in the first place (regardless of whether that consciousness is "plugged in and active or just dormant").
Right now, the mainstream vibe is that consciousness is just a byproduct of the brain, but those conclusions aren't absolute truth—they're just the most popular opinion out there.
They try to prove that point through experiments where they induce sensations in a human brain by poking at specific centers in different ways.
So, sure, if you stimulate the visual center, a person will actually see light—stimulate the auditory center, and they hear sounds... experience certain states and whatever else.
Okay.
But what does that actually prove?
Does it mean the sun I'm looking at doesn't exist, and that the whole experience is just an illusion?
Or that the sounds of the world I hear (like the wind blowing or waves crashing) aren't real... just because sounds can be induced?
Does that mean spiritual experiences or perceptions are also just illusions?

Give me a break!

The only thing it proves is that you can manipulate the receiver that consciousness uses to "connect" with the physical plane—to manifest or express its potential within this reality.

It shows that this receiver (just like any other piece of tech) can glitch, create static in the signal (whether receiving or sending), or just be poorly tuned... more or less functional.

Nothing more, nothing less.

ps.
Anyway, experiences that go beyond the physical realm totally blow "consciousness" limited by physical constraints out of the water, and you can't induce those things just by poking at a brain.

Benjamin Wilson4 said:It’s easier for me to stomach things when I remember this: every single, absolutely every person carries their own baggage—complexes, fears, insecurities. If someone acts like they’re perfectly fine, it just means they’ve become experts at masking it. In fact, the need to hide it usually suggests those deep-seated issues are even more intense than most. 😉 At our core, we’re all just lost souls looking for a sense of belonging and a reason to be loved. When you view people through that lens, you almost feel a sense of pity for them. It makes it much easier to understand—and frankly, to forgive—the toxic ways they act out toward the world just to shield their own fragility.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean... I can feel it deep down.
It’s kind of why I find it impossible to stay genuinely pissed off at anyone.
Like, truly nobody.
Sure, I lose my cool sometimes, and man, if I see something unfair, I’ll probably want to throw down... but I just can't hold onto hate or be one of those grudge-holding types.
And once I finally snap and react, I’ll just spontaneously forgive them... or I’ll end up feeling like I overdid it (and then I feel guilty about that too).
It’s all because of that realization; that everyone just wants to be loved and part of something. If they don't get that, or if they’ve got this weird "survival reflex" fear—and believe me, I've seen it happen—that love or acceptance might be snatched away, they just start reacting wildly, messy, and totally uncoordinated.
Nobody is immune to that crap.
Plus, I also feel like most people are terrified of being "seen" or stepping into the spotlight. So, they hide that insecurity behind these huge, loud reactions and making a scene, which makes them look like total jerks at first glance, even though deep down, they aren't really like that.
They just get swept up by their own anxiety, their reflexes, and that whole mob mentality thing.
Honestly, I think being able to control those reflexive fears of losing your spot in the group is basically what defines emotional maturity.
I’ve seen it so many times where someone isn't even the same person when they’re alone versus when they’re out in a crowd or being influenced by the group.

So I watched a CNN documentary, big deal. I’ve seen Batman too. 😂
And that’s your big response to the actual, genuine testimonies I shared?

You really are an unshakable believer, aren't you?
Once Brandon Sanderson (through his writing) hooked your emotions, you just can't let go, even when facts come along that totally expose him.

What really trips me out about this whole mess is how you insist on believing these propaganda pieces posted on bottom-tier tabloid sites that exist just to trash Christian spirituality.

Why does it confuse me?

Because I seriously cannot wrap my head around how you can be so incredibly exclusive when it comes to Christianity (regardless of all the cheap trash being thrown at it) while simultaneously (!?), stubbornly ignoring the undeniable facts that clearly wreck Brandon Sanderson's credibility.

You're pretty zealous in that sense;
Silence:
Look, I put in the effort and found the link (on some yellow journalism tabloid site). It wasn't hard...
Wait, are you telling me that doesn't bother you (what was published on that site)???????????
Just look at what they were doing and you're still defending them like a headless chicken.
You react just as aggressively to the undeniably authentic testimonies shown in the CNN film;
Silence:
So I watched a CNN documentary, big deal. I’ve seen Batman too. 😂

Come on, maybe study a little more so you don't just blabber nonsense,..😂 😉
Isn't that a bit of a double standard?
Don't you feel like you're being inconsistent, even if just a little?

That's basically what I've been pointing out this whole time, but you just keep throwing fuel on the fire... if you catch my drift.

Silence:
I've experienced plenty of what Brandon Sanderson writes in practice. I almost kicked the bucket a couple of times, so believe me if you want, it isn't fiction... but I don't feel like arguing this with you, it's just a waste of time.😉
If I had known what level your spirit was at, I never would have dared to challenge you.

Silence:
Look, just stay a sheep in your own little flock; it's not like you're the first or the last.
Time will tell who the real sheep is here...

Wishing you nothing but the best and lots of happiness in your life.😉
Amen!😂

The thing that’s really eating at me is this nagging feeling that I somehow hurt you.
Like, I poked right where it hurts the most.
I know you’d never admit it—not even if your life depended on it (and yeah, I can see that endless parade of emojis you send my way)—but I just can't shake the feeling.

It’s like I’m an older sister looking out for her little brother (who’s, let’s be real, a bit dim, but has a good heart)... even though you're probably way older than me.

And I'm not being cynical when I say that.

That’s honestly just how I see it.

I don't really get these Christian values.
Maybe write a bit about them.
They're right there in the song by St. Francis.
Every time I read it, it just hits me differently... reminds me of those moods I find myself in sometimes.
It makes me feel this crazy connection to him.

CANTICLE OF THE CREATURES
St. Francis of Assisi

Most High, almighty, good Lord,
to you alone belong all praise, glory, honor,
and every blessing.
It belongs to you alone,
while no human being is worthy enough
even to mention your holy name.

Be praised, my Lord,
with all your creatures,
especially with brother Sun:
from him we receive the day,
warming us with his light.
He is beautiful and full of bright splendor,
a reflection, Most High, of your divine radiance.

Praise and bless
my Lord,
give thanks to him, serve him all,
in great humility.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our brother Moon and sister Stars.
You have scattered them, so bright, dear, and beautiful,
across your sky.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our brother Wind,
by the Air, the Cloud, and the clear skies,
and by all your weather,
that sustains your creatures.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our sister Water,
she is useful, humble, precious, and pure.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our brother Fire, which lights up our dark night.
He is beautiful and pleasant, powerful and strong.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our sister and mother Earth.
She feeds us and carries us, bringing forth sweet fruits,
colorful flowers, and herbs.

Be praised, my Lord,
by those who forgive out of your love
and bear the hardships of life with joy;
blessed are those who endure all things with peace,
for you will crown them with an eternal crown.

Be praised, my Lord,
by our sister bodily death,
which no mortal can escape.
Woe to those who die in mortal sin;
but blessed are those you find according to your holy will,
for a second death will not harm them.

How much are you actually able to understand/"feel" this, John?
Does it even make sense to you?

Quincy:
So how do you think you'll be saved if you don't believe and don't belong to the one true—the Orthodox Church?
My heritage is Catholic.
That doesn't make Orthodoxy any less valid (or vice versa).
Apparently, sticking to your own spiritual roots is considered a flaw on this subforum.

I wonder what kind of person I'd have to be to be accepted or "verified"?
Something impersonal and "free-spirited"?
What kind of kid is this guy, anyway? Can someone explain it to me...!?
Just so I can finally see where I'm going wrong.

You’re still stuck on how some junk website can have anything to do with spirituality—or fake spirituality—and all the misery it causes.
I really hope you realize that Castaneda makes up about 0.00001% of North America.
Still, that 17th point is starting to pique my interest.

Petition: ban heavy metal and eat religion.
There’s only one holy, redeeming church—the Orthodox Church.

You're totally misreading what I wrote.

I'm not out here campaigning to ban anything; I'm just pointing out how hypocritical people are being toward Christian values.

What part of that isn't clear?

What does the Orthodox Church have to do with me?
Where did you even get that idea?

Btw;
it seems like my age is this constant, ongoing dilemma on this subforum!?
Let's just solve this little "mystery" once and for all.
Common sense tells you that the whole "how old is she" thing is ancient history when it comes to me.
Why?
I've been on this forum since 2009.
If I was 17 back then (and you gave me a username that basically screams my age), I’d be at least 3 or 4 years older now.
Basically just summing up all that pure, concentrated malice directed at Christian values.

It’ll cheer up the idiots and drive anyone with half a brain totally insane.
Got it. Ready to roll.
Look, your post is actually the perfect excuse for me to finally get to the heart of what I’ve been trying to say.

Hold up, I gotta sort one thing out before I even start typing.
Hey mods, look, just a heads-up—please go easy on me regarding the parts of my posts where I'm quoting headlines or dropping info from other sites. I’m not gonna name names or anything, I'll just be dropping links instead. Just asking for a little breathing room there.
Look, I’m not out here trying to run ads for the competition or whatever. Seriously. I’m just laying out the actual facts here because if you don't get those, you aren't even going to understand the point I'm making. It's pretty simple when you look at it that way.
Without them, my whole setup is incomplete, and honestly, it just leaves me totally handicapped when I’m trying to actually explain the core of what I’ve figured out.
Thanks in advance for being cool about this and understanding where I'm coming from.

Look, my stance on this whole propaganda circus surrounding Christian spirituality is already out there in the open. I’ve said my piece. What I’m pointing at is pretty damn obvious if you actually bother to look.
It really gets under my skin, man, the way he constantly goes after her with those sneaky, backhanded jabs; it's just constant.
Pure propaganda, pure populism, just straight-up hypocrisy... and they don't even give a damn about what’s actually going on right here at home in the States.

First things first, we gotta talk about where all this info is actually coming from and the whole shady way they push it on us.

Where did it all even start? Honestly, looking back at how everything kicked off... it’s a mess. Just one big, chaotic chain reaction that nobody really saw coming. It feels like we're just dealing with the fallout now, staring at the wreckage and wondering where the hell we took that first wrong turn. Everything just spiraled.
From that one site.
So, what's his deal with orientation?
Check out what we've got here;
Look, for those of you who are too lazy to actually read anything, I'll just give you the whole deal by summarizing everything right in the first sentence of the article. There, happy?
In the name of Metallica, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, and Grandpa, let's pray...

The picture I grabbed from that site pretty much says it all. You know what I mean... they say a single image is worth a thousand words, and honestly? This one hits harder than most.

If you want to know if a source is actually legit or just some random clown, you don't even need to look at their bio. Just look at what kind of garbage they’re serving up. The topics they pick tell you everything you need to know about how much of a joke they are.
Look, I’m just saying—take a look at the headlines under the "serious" news section on this site. Honestly, don't even get me started on the rest of the garbage they post. It's a joke.
So, I was looking through this massive archive—we're talking over 360 pages of seriously heavy-duty stuff—and honestly? I only skimmed through the nine most recent ones. Out of about 60 articles total, I managed to pick out half of the ones that actually mattered. Just a tiny fraction, really.
So, here’s the deal on what I stumbled upon (basically just a breakdown of the kind of content and profiles we're talking about here);

Confessions of a troll.
So, how do you actually get big boobs? Apparently, some people think getting slapped helps. Seriously? What kind of logic is that? Just sounds like a recipe for a bruise, not a glow-up.
If the US wins the World Cup, some porn star is gonna be giving out freebies to everyone.
World Cup glorious deaths on Halloween.
Total garbage opinion.
So, I was sitting there, right? Just staring at my coffee, thinking about how much everything sucks lately, and then it hit me. What if the world actually ends? Like, for real. Not just some political nonsense or some billionaire losing his mind on Twitter, but a full-blown zombie apocalypse. Yeah, you heard me. It sounds crazy, but honestly, given the state of things, why not? I’m not talking about that Hollywood crap where everyone runs around screaming and dies in five minutes. That’s stupid. If you want to survive, you need a plan. A real one. First off—supplies. You can't just rely on Amazon Prime. When the grid goes down, those delivery drivers aren't coming to your door with a box of protein bars. You need the basics. Canned goods, yeah, but don't just grab whatever is on sale at Walmart. Get the stuff that actually lasts. And water. People always forget the water. You can live a week without food, but you won't last three days without water. I remember back when my old man tried to go camping in the Rockies and we ran out of water halfway up the trail... man, that was a rough two days. Don't be like us. Second, gear. Forget looking cool. Nobody cares if you look like a tactical badass from a video game. You need stuff that works. A solid knife, a decent flashlight, and maybe a crowbar. A crowbar is underrated, seriously. It opens doors *and* it hits things. Simple math. And please, for the love of God, find a good place to hide. Somewhere quiet. Not some big city like New York or LA. Those places will become giant meat grinders the second the first bite happens. Think more like a small town in the Midwest or somewhere tucked away in the mountains. Somewhere you can see people coming from a mile away. It's all about being prepared, man. Most people are just drifting through life, totally clueless, waiting for something to happen. But if the zombies show up? Well, most of them are gonna be toast. Not me, though. I'll be chilling in my bunker, probably listening to Metallica, waiting for the chaos to blow over. Stay safe out there.
Strava and absolute nightmares; the most terrifying urban legends out there.
Stabbing; dancing and sex on the dry side (dancing that’s basically known for wrecking your junk)
So, let's talk about weed. Like, everything you actually need to know without all that medical jargon or the weirdly intense lectures from people who act like they're lecturing you from a pulpit. Honestly, it’s a whole thing. I remember back in my college days—well, before things got too crazy—my buddy used to say that everyone thinks they know what they're getting into until they've actually tried a specific strain. It's kind of like trying to pick a band at a dive bar; you think you want heavy stuff, then suddenly you're just vibing to some lo-fi beat and staring at the ceiling for three hours. Total trip. There’s so much noise out there. You’ve got the "wellness" crowd treating it like some holy elixir, and then you’ve got the old-schoolers who still look at you like you're committing a felony just for wanting to chill on a Friday night. It’s a mess. But if you're looking to understand the basics—how it hits, how it affects you, and why everyone's constantly arguing about it—you gotta look past the hype. It's not just one thing. It's a spectrum. Whether you're looking to spark up and forget your boss exists or you're trying to deal with some actual stress, there's a rabbit hole for every mood. Just... don't go thinking it's a magic fix for everything, because it's definitely not. Trust me, I've been there.
Man, I was scrolling through YouTube the other day—way too late, obviously—and I ended up falling down one of those rabbit holes that makes you question if humanity is actually cooked. Just a straight-up collection of the most bizarre videos ever uploaded. It’s wild out there. One minute you're watching a cooking tutorial, and the next, you're staring at some fever dream that feels like it was filmed in a basement in middle America by someone who hasn't slept since the nineties. Honestly, it gets weird fast. Like, really weird. You start thinking you've seen it all, then some guy decides to film himself doing something absolutely unhinged, and suddenly you're questioning everything. It's a total trip.
Big Brother knows exactly what you look like.
Honestly, some people have zero taste when it comes to Halloween. Like, seriously? I saw someone walking down the street yesterday in one of those cheap, plastic superhero outfits that looks like it was made out of trash bags. It’s embarrassing. I mean, don't even get me started on those "sexy" versions of everything. You know the ones. Just a tiny bit of fabric and a prayer. It’s lazy. If you're gonna go as a character, actually put some effort in! I remember back in high school, my buddy tried to go as a giant taco, but he forgot the structural integrity part, so he just spent the whole party looking like a crumpled bag of Doritos. It was tragic. Truly. And the puns... oh man, the pun costumes. "Holy Guacamole"? Really? That’s where we are now? If I see one more person wearing a sign that says "Error 404: Costume Not Found," I might actually lose it. It’s just uninspired. It’s like they didn't even try to think for five seconds before hitting the store. Just give me something with actual substance, or better yet, just wear a regular outfit and call it a night. At least then you won't look like a total clown.
The Brazilian Batman is out there patrolling the streets.
So I’m out back, just minding my own business, you know? Doing my business in my own yard—just peeing, nothing crazy—and then I look up and realize I’ve somehow ended up on Google Street View. Like, seriously? Can't even have a private moment without some satellite camera catching me mid-stream. It's absolutely ridiculous.
So, I was thinking about this earlier while scrolling through some random threads, and honestly? Sharing porn is totally legal. Like, it's just part of the landscape now. People act like it’s some huge taboo, but in the US, it's pretty much wide open unless you're getting into the illegal stuff, obviously. It's just how things are.
Jane's got some hot blondes between her legs.
Just sang a freaking anthem dedicated to those girls' chests on the beach.
From having the longest tongue to rocking the biggest afro, man... things just get wild.
Some leaked photos of Scarlett Johansson.
A thousand boobs for buddy Putin.
College life, man... I'm basically majoring in video games, terrible movies, and absolute losers.
Man, I was scrolling through some old history forums last night—you know how it goes, getting sucked down a rabbit hole at 2 AM—and I started thinking about the absolute worst popes in history. Like, seriously, some of these guys were straight-up villains. It’s wild when you look back at the sheer chaos they caused while sitting in the highest seat in the Church. Honestly, looking at the mess people made this summer, it feels like we're just repeating the same old patterns of terrible leadership. Just total disasters from start to finish.
You can basically spend this whole summer licking Lady Gaga's boots.
Total goal in the trunk.
Chattroullete; there aren't any more naked pees left.
So, they finally picked the hottest girl in the Netherlands.
Rent a friend – I’m honestly losing my mind over that Justin guy.
Pornography for the blind. Seriously? What even is that? Just... what?
Forty thousand hookers against forty-two million condoms... I mean, do the math, people. It just doesn't add up. Seriously.
Vampires working for the White House... seriously? This guy, who’s basically positioning himself as the next Obamin, is out here promising people will be staked through the heart. What a joke.

Here’s what everyone’s losing their minds over right now (the TOP stuff):
Those bratty politician daughters who basically dragged their parents' names through the mud... man, what a mess.
So, how do you actually use a vibrator with him in bed? Honestly, it’s all about the vibe—literally. You can't just barge in there like a drill sergeant; you gotta play it cool. I remember this one time back in Chicago when my girlfriend brought out this crazy high-tech thing, and we were both just staring at it like it was an alien artifact. It was awkward for a second, but then we just leaned into it. The trick is to make it feel like part of the flow, not some weird interruption. Don't make it a solo mission where he's just watching you work. Use it on yourself while you're together, or even better, let him direct it. It's about building that tension. If you go too hard too fast, it’s like trying to drive a Ferrari through a school zone—total disaster. Just ease into it. Keep it playful, keep it messy, and don't overthink the mechanics of it all. Just go with it.
Porn as decor? Seriously? Like, just hanging it on the wall like some fine art masterpiece? I don't know, man. It’s such a weird vibe. People act like it’s some edgy statement, but honestly, it just feels a bit desperate. Reminds me of that one guy I knew back in Chicago who tried to make his entire apartment look like a neon-soaked fever dream—everything was just... too much. You think you're being bold, but really you're just making everyone who walks through your door feel incredibly awkward. It’s like trying to make a mess look intentional. Just a thought.

Who even writes this sensationalist garbage? Honestly, you can tell exactly how brainless the content is just by looking at the way the site recruits its staff. It’s pathetic.
So, this is basically how they get them all riled up;
Listen, you little scribbler, pay attention... (frozengull2).net is looking for collaborators. They're basically hunting for people who actually give a damn about what they write—you know, folks who can actually pass that passion on to the readers instead of just churning out mindless garbage.
Look, if you're just here to talk trash about whatever, then yeah, welcome to the party. Grab a seat.
The crazier and more insane, the better...
And honestly? It’s like expertise doesn't even matter anymore. Like, at all. You can be the smartest person in the room, have all the credentials from Harvard or wherever, and people will still just look right past you. It’s a joke.

Just a quick glance at what was written and you can already tell how questionable and shallow the whole thing is (pretty sure the source is just Wikipedia).
Regarding Innocent VIII, for example, it says (and I'm quoting here): "The moment he died, the Middle Ages ended and the era suddenly brightened." Like God Himself was throwing a party for his death or something!?
Where the hell does that conclusion even come from?

It’s nothing more than cheap populism and the kind of loud, screaming sensationalism that’s just bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. It's in the same trash bin as vampires running for the White House and preaching about being staked through the heart, and Catholicism!?

The obvious goal here is to paint a twisted picture of everything that is "default" despised by these people.
They only mention the negative examples selectively—if I remember history right, there were over 260 popes. What about them? And how do they fit into the equation with these few examples mentioned?
Same goes for when you criticize an entire era through one specific figure without mentioning that, say, Saint Francis appeared at the exact same time with his vow of poverty and became the total antithesis, carving out a whole new path. It’s clearly not giving an objective view.

It isn't hard to see that this is just low-level agitprop, using gutter tactics to try and shape or steer public opinion.
By leaning into loud sensationalism and bizarre claims while being super cynical, they’re trying to target the most vulnerable—you know, the young and the gullible who are still figuring out their own stances.
Just imagine what kind of thinking level we're looking at for people who consume nothing but this kind of garbage.
Unbridled consumerism...
The kind that encourages non-discriminatory impulsiveness aimed solely at self-gratification and entertainment without any limits whatsoever.
That’s basically how a dog acts once you wash it and let it off the leash.
To me, this looks like just one tool in the attempt to drag society down to that level—this globalized, consumerist, gender-numbed hive mind where the only rule is: "Consume as much as possible. You're free to do whatever you want... anything goes."

Who actually buys into these projections?

You do (clearly, based on what you posted), and so does whoever cooked up and distributed this text. They don't even stop to ask where it comes from or who is planting it and why.

That's exactly what I'm pointing out here.

Btw;
Isn't it reasonable to conclude that in the same way you swallowed this questionable content (totally impulsively and naively), you're also taking everything Castaneda feeds you at face value?
In my book, cheap populism, screaming sensationalism, and that mystical emotionalism (which I call "Castaneda-ism") mostly attract "pudding" minds.
Why "pudding"?
Because they're easy to mold with some cheap writing.
Think about the spiritual potential of someone who is so prone to these kinds of influences.
How much do they actually "see" or understand!?

What frustrates me most is when these types (who are basically modeled like pudding) start talking trash about things they don't even comprehend.

How else am I supposed to interpret this twisted, malicious critique of Christian spirituality? It's presented as a bunch of half-truths and snippets used to wave around, while blatantly burying heads in the sand and ignoring facts that I have pretty thoroughly pruned away regarding what he's actually bragging about.
Everything I’ve attacked regarding Castaneda (unlike those shady anti-Christian texts from certain sites) has clear, verified, and authentic sources.
Personal testimonies from people who were part of Castaneda's innermost circle.
Please, go watch the film produced by the BBC!
Those testimonies aren't just hearsay; they were filmed and well-documented by the people closest to Castaneda themselves.

So, isn't it fair to say that being obsessed with dreaming according to Castaneda's recipe—given the fact that he based his writing on a 19-year-old girl whom he crushed, exploited, and falsely portrayed as a "Blue Scout" whom he personally "brought" to Earth from the astral plane!?—is rightfully considered a form of self-induced obsession?

How do you even begin to describe how some people interpret their "life experiences" on this forum? It’s all through this weird lens of "blue scouts" and imaginary creatures...!?
Like... "Oh, I actually met a 'scout' just like the ones Castaneda writes about!"
Doesn't that kind of nonsense deserve a serious deep dive from a psychoanalyst?
Honestly, anyone prone to this stuff should probably take a second to look in the mirror and question the "alternate reality" they've basically hypnotized themselves into living in.

And look, your attempt to brush this all off by saying the text was just "linked" isn't cutting it.
It wasn't just some casual link; the title made it incredibly loud and obvious—it was practically slapped right in our faces.
The thread title I started as a response is basically just a paraphrased version of that exact same thing!

Anyway, to wrap this up;
It doesn't matter if Castaneda wasn't convicted of anything.
What does that even have to do with anything?
The point is, his manipulative nature and obsession drove several women straight toward their deaths.
The fact that those women ended up killing themselves because they were left crushed by unfulfilled promises of "learning" after he died... that changes absolutely nothing. Inside Silence.

Later!
nimblewolf11;
to start with,
it's the church that has this centuries-old habit of trampling over—though they totally fail to grasp it—the original spiritual values! but hey, the winds are shifting lately toward creating new ways of thinking where new natural values can actually grow, which is basically what the human spirit craves anyway. it's a far cry from those artificial, processed constructs of twisted and made-up values that were cooked up just to serve their own interests throughout history, all at the expense of the regular folks who were basically told they deserved their poverty and suffering.

First off, it wasn't the Catholic Church reacting to the sign-up, it was me.
So, you aren't picking a fight with the church; you're picking a fight with my honest, blunt-force opinion regarding all that New Jersey-style barking at Christian values.
You'd be better off tackling me and my actual life experience instead of throwing out those cliché, anti-Christian stereotypes.
It’s crystal clear where you stand.
Just total, blown-out, New Jersey-style anti-Christian nonsense.
You can try to hide it, but you can't flip yourself upside down to mask it.
Unlike you, I look at Christianity through a completely different lens (just spontaneously, intuitively, and from experience)... based on what I personally "see" and feel spiritually.
Am I wrong about something?

..your posts on this thread just drip with destructive rage.. from some wounded, negative ego!

Is my attempt to call out someone else's hypocrisy "destructive rage"?
A wounded, negative ego?
I'm dying to know how a "positive ego" calls out hypocrisy?
By nodding along like some apologetic little lapdog?
The post that triggered this whole sub-thread was nothing more than basic, low-level, political-style propaganda.
What kind of ego are we talking about here?
Some "inspiredly positive" constructive type?

Did you even read my opening post?
Is it clear what I was pointing out (or are you just playing dumb)?

shouldn't the fundamental value of Christianity be love, spreading love....? where are these "Christian values" actually visible in action?? how can something universal (God, Christ, Love..) be institutionalized, claimed as property belonging to someone? in what segment of historical existence did Christianity actually live out those values???

What are you even talking about?
Who's stopping you from living by Christian principles?
The church?
Give me a break... you and your confusion/cluelessness.
So, calling out the propaganda preaching from SW/her hypocrisy and two-facedness in that sense—that's somehow attacking the very core of love?
Your phrases sound as pathetic as something ripped from a cheap Hallmark card; "segment of historical existence of spreading love"!!?
Just because you say something with passion doesn't mean you're right.
It just means you're passionate... basically self-combustible.

When did Christianity actually live out Christian values?
Christianity produced thousands of saints (people who lived, lived, died, and are still dying today for what they hold in their hearts).

Do you even know anything about them?

Why did Christianity turn into this mess of intolerance, hypocrisy, labeling everyone, and just straight-up mocking anyone who thinks differently...? Why do people claiming to be Christian get so triggered when they get hit with actual constructive criticism? Where did it all go wrong, and was there ever even a version of this that actually practiced being tolerant toward the original message?

That’s not what Christianity stands for, you’re just putting words in its mouth.

Just trash-talking for the sake of it isn't "constructive feedback"—it's just being a jerk.
The only one being hypocritical and obsessed with labels here is SW.
I’ve already made my point crystal clear, no ambiguity about it.
It’s so obvious you could see it from an airplane (like those high-altitude capsules Felix Baumgartner jumped out of recently).
Why are you acting so surprised?
The fact that I can practically hear the emotionalism in your voice proves that this topic is spot on and my arguments are solid.

I get the feeling you're just throwing around rehearsed phrases... looks like you've got the same goal in mind.

Btw; why does constructive criticism offend you so much?
I’m talking about the dilemma laid out in the first post—on one hand, you have people bashing Christians, and on the other, you have people sweeping the filthiness of the guy driving this whole fixation under the rug.

The answer to this and plenty of other similar questions is pretty simple and can be summed up in just a few words! Christianity, along with most other religions (new, old, small, big, whatever...), is constantly clashing with itself and the rest of the world in all sorts of sneaky ways. It’s because, throughout its entire existence, it hasn’t been able to rise above its animalistic nature—that hyper-focused, selfish consciousness and the petty ego. By definition, that kind of mindset is immature; it's the ego of puffed-up leaders controlling a bunch of unconscious individuals, molding their lives however they please.

So now you’ve just invented your own personal religion, some unique path to mystical enlightenment!?
Your own little personal legend that serves as its own goal and purpose... sounds like music to your ears.
You basically just pick and choose whatever bits suit you best while practicing your little routine...
Depending on how you’re feeling or what your "vibe" is at the moment... tucked away safely in your little bubble.

I bet you don't really care about what's happening in your actual surroundings or how this affects your loved ones... I assume.
As long as things are fine for you / as long as your comfort zone (so-called "karma") isn't disturbed, right?
When someone points out the fact that this might not actually be good... that people aren't actually growing spiritually but are just stagnating and catering to themselves—they get pissed off and pull the "righteous indignation" card, screaming about Christian values.

That’s exactly how SW acted too... without bothering to look at her own mess.
Her obsession with the legend is so codependent that she completely ignores the fact that the guy whose writings hypnotized her was just your average con artist. He basically recycled a bunch of different teachings, packaged them into a few books, and through sheer manipulation, drove several naive, truth-seeking women toward suicide.

Totally stuck in her obsession, she’s now trying to lecture others with this fake, self-righteous attitude;
“Aha... look how some Christians reacted in the past!!”
“I read this on some liberal, shallow-political, anti-Christian website...”
(even though nobody actually called her out on it)

So, what is she actually trying to tell us?

That my father's spiritual value is questionable, for example?
Or that hers is beyond doubt?

Can you see how low this approach is? This pathetic attempt to undermine people?

For instance, here is something from the usual arsenal of those "holy" church dignitaries (words they love to repeat): God loves you more than the birds in the sky and other non-human creatures, and since He takes care of them and ensures they have food without worry, you shouldn't worry about what you'll eat either...
What does God even care about? Like, who does He love more or less? Who’s His favorite and who’s on His bad side? And if everything isn't His, then whose birds are they? What kind of God sits there categorizing creatures by "value"—unless it's just some human brain trying way too hard to judge everything!

Okay... so you're a vegetarian.
Are you pushing that whole Hinduism thing?
I mean, aren't plants living things too? They deserve to stay off our dinner plates, right?
Do you really think you're somehow better than them?
What makes you any more special than a damn cucumber?
The fact that you've got a keyboard and can type on a forum?
(Honestly, the answer to that is the same as what you were rambling about earlier... maybe just try answering it yourself.)

Anyone with eyes can see there's zero benefit here—it's actually just harmful. People are being misled by twisted interpretations, their minds are being played with, and everyone's just having this emotional relationship with God. Prayer starts looking less like actual growth or tapping into inner potential and more like just begging God for some random, selfish favors.....

My family—my dad, my mom, and my grandma—are living proof that isn't true.
I haven't met a more spiritual man than my father.
And when I say that, I mean he actually lives out what's in his heart by example.
When I look at how he lives compared to all those New Age posers, those fake gurus and charlatans running around these parts, I see how hollow, pathetic, and staged they all are.
They barely understand spirituality... the "inspiration" they try to force on people is so shallow.
They babble on about building a "personal legend," but my old man—even though he wouldn't give a damn about stuff like that—is a living legend.
At least in my book.
He’s put more soul into the things right in front of me than all those "spiritual remedies" people try to sell from the outside.

Your problem is that you don't have anyone back home who's actually alive, real, or close to their heart to look up to.
That's why you're so narrow-minded and clearly frustrated/brainwashed by that New Age crap.
I get where you're coming from, though.
You just don't know any better.

It's a shame.
(Plus, it means any random hack can manipulate you with a few New Age heart-tugging lines or some marketing-driven, mystical bullshit)

When you don't have your own internal compass, you end up grasping at anyone else's desperation like a drunk person grabbing a railing.
Every little emotional outburst gets mistaken for some "mystical experience."
But someone else's experience is always just that, nimblewolf11. It's not yours.
No matter how much you try to deny it, you'll always be an outsider—just a broken telephone, hearing a story third-hand.
Looks like I hit the nail right on the head from what I can see here.

It’s actually pretty funny how whenever I bring up my own personal legends, all these self-proclaimed experts on Indian philosophy start getting all twitchy on me...

Being a legendary individual is clearly a messy business.

wearyowl29;
This isn't for people who haven't managed to shake off that whole herd mentality yet...

It doesn't bother the folks who live for that groupthink safety net, acting all hysterical with that "love everyone, but only on my terms" vibe.

Who even are you arguing with?

Some distorted Christian fixations living inside your own head?
wearyowl29;
What's missing from a personal legend?

Credibility.

It’s just more of that new-age nonsense that sounds incredibly deep or heartwarming on paper... but it doesn't actually mean a damn thing.

Most of the time, it just knocks the legs out from under people who are already leaning into that pathetic, self-centered kind of auto-hypnosis.

Why do you even ask?
wearyowl29 said:What kind of spirituality are we even talking about here...?

The real deal.

The kind that actually gives you the guts to change from the inside out... provided you actually put in the work.

Then there’s all the other garbage versions out there.
I’m talking about all that mainstream nonsense that tries to convince us "spirituality" is just some personal playground designed solely to
feed our own "personal ego trips."
It’s like that one commercial;
They ask a kid what they should eat to stay healthy, right?
And the kid just goes, "If kids were in charge, everyone in the world would just eat Krispy Kreme all day!"
Click!
Forget fruit, veggies, or a homemade chicken soup—none of that matters if it doesn't hit that sugar high. It's just annoying to them.

In a world full of spoiled, childish, and mostly blind people nowadays, that shallow stuff is unfortunately what sells best.

Such a shame.

So we just back away (because that’s the whole issue I’m talking about... and honestly, you could practically cut the tension in the room with a knife).
You're right there.

This topic is way too heavy for this subforum.

There aren't many people around here who are actually gonna point stuff like this out.

unknown
Explain it to me, what makes the New Age so "dark"?
The fakes sitting at the core of "New Age" teachings.
Carlos Castaneda is the perfect example, considering how much he's influenced the mainstream.

Anyway, what defines the New Age is this general sense of confusion and a "fast food" vibe that the whole movement promotes.
It isn't even about real spirituality; it’s just massive-scale self-serving ego trips.
People just grazing on bits and pieces from everywhere because they don't want to actually open their mouths and bite into anything real.
It mostly just feeds that consumerist-individualist-neoliberal appetite (basically a hungry mind focused entirely on its own comfort zone), rather than being anything authentic or capable of actually changing someone from the inside.

Moving on, how much of Carlos Castaneda have you read, and what specifically bugs you about him?

I've read it all.

What bothers me is;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FrB5...feature=relmfu

The thing that jumps out is his manipulative nature and his ego, which is just off the charts.
It shows up heavily in how he treats women, which borders on pedophilia (if not goes right past it); Amy, Patty (when they were super young)...
By the way, five women from his inner circle ended up killing themselves.

And the worst part? Thousands of his followers are basing their entire lives on him.

Basically just isolating themselves from the world.

Totally, everyone has the right to criticize any concept, and I wouldn't believe otherwise—even Christianity—from any standpoint. Being "authentic" would mean having some actual knowledge of the subject matter and using arguments, though when picking a spiritual path, it's hard to say who holds primacy, since it's all about what resonates with one person and not another. It's not like there's some scientific methodology that will reject one thing as flawed and declare another as true.
I'm saying it again;
The right to an opinion or to criticize anything isn't up for debate.
And I'm exercising that right by starting this thread.

I don't get why you keep stressing that?

I just notice that the people who do that often seem to have a bit of a "stink" on them regarding the very things they're criticizing.

I'm the least to blame here... no matter how ridiculous it might seem.

Your typical New Ageer

Man, sorry you feel that way.

I get the vibe that you just can't stand Christianity—like, any time I mention it in a good light, it totally rubs you the wrong way.

Whatever the reason is, it really sucks that it's like that.

It feels like because I've taken a positive stance on Christianity, I've somehow become the black sheep of the spiritual crowd.
Suddenly I'm "less spiritual" or whatever.

Such a shame... I actually thought you were a cool guy.
Ryan Gomez4 said:But aren't you doing the exact same thing by pushing your own views? And pretty aggressively, too.

And why shouldn't someone put these things in a negative context?

Why does a view have to be "wrong" just because it doesn't match yours?

I'm not forcing anything.

Honestly, I haven't even clearly laid out my positions on this subforum until now.
Up until this exact moment.

The whole reason I bolded them was to emphasize that they aren't necessarily bad things.

That's just the vibe I got from what he wrote—he basically framed my worldview in a negative way.

I’m stressing this point because I don't think being "new age" gives anyone a free pass for being sinful or just plain stupid... or like some kind of "super" status where someone gets to talk trash about others and act like they're "credible."

Based on what, exactly?

Some authority that, say, Carlos Castaneda grants him?

Looking at what's been posted here, you can pretty much judge for yourself what kind of "authority" we're actually dealing with.
