Haas is a disaster. Tough luck for Richie, but I doubt Lando Norris will see much better either...
Bottas is running at half strength 😩
Sam Clark75 said:Man, I wish. But it looked legit serious—some fluid was leaking out of the car and they ended up pulling the engine out, so who knows what's actually broken. If they have to swap the whole engine before the first race, it’s gonna be a total disaster, and honestly, they haven't exactly been winning lately anyway.

I hope you're wrong..
Kenneth Cruz67 said:Apparently, they spent today running through the race simulation with full fuel loads, and they're also testing out that new version of the brakes to make up for lost time, so the lap times aren't looking too bad at all, if you ask me.

I hope you're right.
They were tinkering with Ricciardo, sure, but Lando Norris's last outing didn't even look like real racing; it was like he was just out for a casual Sunday drive.
Either way, I hope things look better tomorrow.
Elizabeth Mendoza said:I’m feeling pretty lukewarm about McLaren right now. I’m definitely not an optimist here. It looked like they were struggling quite a bit with brake issues, though I haven't been glued to every single testing session because work has been keeping me busy. Plus, with Daniel Ricciardo being sidelined by COVID, he hasn't had enough seat time to really get dialed in with the car. On the other hand, Alpine actually left the best impression on me out of all the midfield teams.

Word is Lando Norris is thrilled with how they fixed those brake issues, but we haven't actually seen any proof yet.
I was optimistic until today, but that doesn't mean anything now. We'll see tomorrow...
Alpine looks strong, but again, we'll see.
Sam Clark75 said:If your whole strategy for picking a driver is just "whoever looks most miserable," then honestly, just go with McLaren. (Might as well let someone else suffer right along with me.)

They didn't exactly shine today... I was actually hoping this would finally be their year, but looks like the Ferrari fans will be celebrating way before they do....
Maybe it was all an act today. Lando Norris was just messing around, and Daniel Ricciardo clearly wasn't feeling it. They'll tear it up tomorrow once that mechanic finishes tightening every single bolt on the chassis ☕
stormybadger8 said:It wasn't about being too heavy, they just couldn't hit the minimum weight requirement...
Pay attention to the fact that we're talking about the minimum weight, not the maximum...

Obviously, a lighter car is better, but being overweight doesn't make it illegal. It would be illegal if it were underweight...

Being the lightest doesn't guarantee speed. Honestly, looking at everything we've seen so far, you can expect Alfa to drop out in Q1 or barely scrape through to Q2...

Oops... my bad, I guess I need to get some glasses 🙄
I still don't understand how they haven't been keeping track of this until now.....
stormybadger8 said:What if the hell Alfa isn't overweight...🤔

It would be wild if some epic miracle happened and it turns out Alfa actually has a winning package and a dominant car.🙏 🤣
Imagine how insane it would be if old man Bottas takes the title, or even crazier, fights for it against Williams...😂

Those idiots over at Sky would be crying on live TV, probably shedding tears over Russell's tragic fate.🤣

I'm not buying it...
The idea that nine teams building new cars messed up the minimum weight by a full 40kg? If it was a pound or two, maybe. But 40? And Alfa is the only one with a scale in their garage???
If this is true, I hope they don't change the rules, because then Alfa gets punished with extra weight just for being the only ones following the regulations.😵
What do you think about the sprint race? in Formula 1 ·
In my view, the sprint format is one of the best additions to Formula 1. There are areas for improvement, though. More drivers should earn points—not just the top three—so others actually have an incentive to take risks. I’m generally in favor of having a sprint at every race. I dislike this inconsistent mixing... though it's true some tracks aren't built for it (for instance, I highly doubt a sprint in Monaco would make any sense).
From my perspective, the logic is simple. I rarely watched qualifying before, but last year I tuned in for almost every session because the sprint caught my interest. Once I started watching, I kept watching the standard qualifying sessions out of pure habit. So, I am absolutely FOR it.

If anything needs changing in Formula 1, it's the run-off areas. They need to be redesigned so a driver simply cannot gain an advantage by cutting corners (using foam barriers, narrow gravel traps, etc.).
