I feel like we're seeing more and more programs consolidate all the power into one person's hands lately. Is it actually more efficient, or are we just setting these guys up for massive burnout?

My bad if this isn't the right sub for this, but I couldn't find a better spot to dump this 🙂
So, here's the deal. About two weeks ago, I stepped on some glass and ended up with a pretty deep gash on my lower leg. I hit the ER a day later—yeah, yeah, I know I should've gone immediately—and they told me everything looked fine. They just said to wrap it up with sterile gauze and some medicated mesh so it wouldn't dry out (picked that stuff up at a CVS).
The cut itself wasn't even the main issue; it was this tiny little bit of flesh (maybe a square centimeter?) that I’d basically "trimmed" because it looked a bit darker than the rest.
I've been seeing a doctor to get it dressed, and she's been cleaning it with hydroxide, peroxide, whatever—it gets all white and foamy—plus some spray and Betadine. Since I'm finishing up my vet tech studies and know a thing or two about medicine, I kept asking her if that little dark patch was actually "alive" or if it was dead tissue.
Every single time, she gave me the same line: everything's fine, it's just some bruising under the skin, no biggie.
Then I show up today, and suddenly it's "necrosis." That's it. Just like that. She wrapped it back up and told me I need to come back Tuesday...
So now I'm wondering—what's the worst-case scenario here? It's not a massive area, but this whole "necrosis" thing is starting to freak me out a bit xD
Is there any chance this could just spiral out of control? She mentioned we have to wait for healthy tissue to grow back, but she didn't sound exactly thrilled when she said it. In a worst-case scenario, are we talking about just cutting off that tiny bit of skin, or is it something more?
It's definitely weighing on me, so thanks in advance for any insight 🙏

I don't know what to tell you—people act like being an astronaut is some grand, cinematic adventure, but let's be real. It's mostly just sitting in a pressurized tin can, staring at blinking lights and praying the life support doesn't decide to quit mid-orbit. It’s high-stakes boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. You spend months living in a glorified closet, eating stuff out of pouches, and dealing with the fact that your bones are basically turning into chalk because of the zero-G.
