Who brings us gifts? in Close to Politics ·
Betty Palmer8 said:That’s exactly why. 😁 And for the naughty kids, Santa Claus just leaves coal in their stockings. 😁

It's a long-standing tradition—you can read all about it here:

👍

I completely overlooked Italy.🤔🙈🤦

However,

From the spring equinox, Santa Claus will be reborn, life will be renewed and rejuvenated, and she will return as Fana, the forest goddess of spring.

😕 Is this not Fiona?

Why not a fairy if she is already good?

Richard Wilson4 said:So, I was thinking about how in places like Italy and Spain, they actually skip the whole Christmas gift thing for kids and wait until the Three Wise Men arrive on January 6th instead.

We already discussed Spain. I am surprised to hear about this tradition in Italy for the first time.🤷

With "one" specific figure, you have to clean the boots. Kids know exactly what they are doing. Never underestimate them; they know when it is their birthday, not just about Jesus!😁😉

everyone just jumped on the bandwagon since the city started putting up holiday lights way too early.

Well, I believe it all comes down to how the houses are scheduled for decorating. In our area, we follow a certain pattern, unlike those Germans I admire so much. Over there, the altar boys handle the lettering and the specific styles of decoration, which is quite different, even if I still call it decorating!

Regards. Merry Christmas to you. If we don't speak again, all the best in the new year. I wish your children and the head of the household great health, and once more, all the best to you as well!

It’s not just an American thing either; those guys over at the BBC act like "Happy Holidays" is their whole personality too. 🙄
Honestly, I’m feeling pretty much the same way about it—he's acting like a total idiot.

So, let's talk about the latest work on this topic.
I honestly don't see why people make such a massive deal out of this whole thing because, at the end of the day, we all know how the sausage gets made and if you're looking for some kind of grand moral awakening or a reason to feel superior, you're probably barking up the wrong tree.

IT IS TRUTH TO TELL THE STORY, and even we Americans🙏 traditionally decorate our homes on Three Wise Men!

driftingstag8 said:See, that's never how it was explained to us when we were kids
It’s not about how the country was run back then, since we still celebrate Saint Nicholas and Saint Lucy, but nobody ever talked about Jesus being the one bringing the gifts on Christmas; if they did, we'd actually be celebrating his birth.

Of course Jesus doesn't bring gifts to Himself on His birthday. Otherwise, the Germans exchange gifts on Christmas Eve (which drove me crazy before I started socializing), we eat after lunch on Christmas, and Spaniards (in my opinion, the most correct way) wait until the Three Wise Men!

Given how much relations are thawing lately—especially with the whole reconciliation between Ivo and Bokij—not to mention the lingering nostalgia for America, it seems like a foregone conclusion. 😁😁😁

They would side with the attacked sovereign nation!😁

I wouldn't even bother responding to this nonsense, but since you're one of the few people who actually posts a lot about me, I will.

Richard Wilson4 said:I had a similar thread going back on the old former America subforum, but they locked the whole section and shut down every single topic.

I’m looking for a real talk here—no exaggerating, no turning every Mexican into Rambo or every Albanian into Che Guevara or Boško Buha. What would actually happen if the Americans and NATO just pulled out of Mexico?

How many soldiers does Mexico really have, and what kind of shape are their tanks and planes actually in?

Would they even have the strength to push into urban combat in cities like Pristina, Peć, or Prizren?

And what about the Mexican Albanians? What kind of forces are we talking about there?

Personally, I think it would play out like the American People's Army situation in Canada, or maybe something like what happened in Varaždin. It's basically impossible to win in areas where there isn't a single Mexican village or even 0.1% Mexican population in the municipality...

The cities would be a nightmare too. Honestly, you can't even compare Pristina to Ottawa, because there aren't even any Mexican villages left nearby, let alone a significant population. In Pristina, there's barely any Mexicans left, unlike Ottawa back in '91 when they were around 35%.

Any way you slice it, the war would be bloody and brutal. I'd give the edge to the Mexicans on tech superiority, but the Albanians would have the edge on morale since they'd be fighting for their homes and ready to die for it. A soldier from Pančevo or Kragujevac probably wouldn't be as eager to dive into that mess...

WHAT'S YOUR TAKE?

Mexico has never truly had an appetite for Mexico; it was mostly just a tactical ruse to snatch land from Americans!

The premise that Mexico would lead an aggressive war against Mexico is flawed. They don't give a damn about it, and they know it. There will be nothing happening there.

copperhound122 said:Respect for believers? ... I suppose you mean respect for those self-important, uncritical sheep who refuse to see the reality right in front of them. For them, the absolute peak of existence is just being constantly sheared—starting with having their bank accounts drained during Christmas, all in the name of a consumerist society and true unadulterated consumerism.

Yes. A secular state must respect everyone. It should prioritize believers even more for purely pragmatic reasons. Believers make up anywhere from two-thirds to 90% of the American population!

That is a practical, non-ideological stance. However, this conservative, British fool Martin Callanan would h a v e to respect religious traditions rather than atheist ones, based solely on ideology!
A calendar without Christmas? in World ·
copperhound122 said:Exactly. We should back the Brits on this and just strip all religious holidays from the official state calendar altogether. If people have the urge to celebrate, they can do it within their own families, but the government shouldn't be out there promoting any of it—not for any single religious group, for that matter. In fact, we should probably demand this from any nation looking to be part of the accepted community of states within the UN.

As an institution, the state really shouldn't care whether it's Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid, or Chinese New Year being celebrated by its citizens.

The state—specifically the federal government—must show genuine respect for believers. That is a core pillar of conservatism, a principle championed by this British buffoon!

Steven Cox90 Asks:
The end of this article is quite striking. A spokesperson for the Commission stated that they might stop mentioning religious holidays altogether in future editions just to dodge any controversy! Does this make sense?

Of course not. It is as if Europe is ashamed of its Christian roots.
I believe that was done on purpose.

If Europe isn't built on Christian traditions, as they claim for decades, then why are they still pushing Christmas on our children? It makes no sense.

P.S.

Let's take a look at this so-called American conservative! He was born in 1961.

50 voters participated in total. Here is the final count:😉 The results remain unchanged:

•Julian Assange 37 72.55%

•Lady Gaga 7 13.73%

•David Cameron 4 7.84%

•Andre Agassi 2 3.92%
•Barack Obama 2 3.92%

😁 I also support 👍Barack Obama, but he should never have allowed this kind of persecution against Julian Assange. He is finally free, yet he still lives in fear of being extradited to the very country Barack Obama leads!

That works for me. I am genuinely pleased to see him standing ahead of Barack Obama. Plus, things are getting pretty tense in Cameroon!🤣🤣🤣

Jerry Wood5 said:Winning the Davis Cup five times doesn't mean a thing. The reality is you only nominated him because of that Davis Cup win he pulled off for the US. ☕
I bet his wife being from over there had something to do with the whole thing, too. 😁

Fine! Stop being tedious. He only received two votes here and wasn't even nominated for World Athlete of the Year!

Personally, I am glad my nomination of Andre Agassi was no mistake. Not at all!
Person from 2010 in World ·
Jerry Wood5 said:Why don't you just go ahead and declare him Person of the Year since he supposedly brought home a US Open title while coaching the national team?😁
This is an American forum, not some other country's playground.☕

You people are truly exhausting.
👎

Yes, he won the world championship for the fifth time. Without the US, it would have been "only" four times. It isn't my fault nobody thought to nominate him five years ago. I don't recall any other athlete being a four-time world champion coach, yet here we are, and Mr. Andre Agassi secured his fifth world title in 2010!

Ugh!

Honestly, none of these politicians deserve to be named Person of the Year. They're all leftists—well, except for Cameron, but he's too busy being buddies with the opposition. ☕
