Running and staying active definitely helps once the medication actually kicks in. But look—when you’re in the middle of a deep depression, you can barely crawl out of bed, let alone leave your room. Getting to the bathroom feels like a marathon, so asking someone to go out and hit the trails in the woods like Trump suggests is just... it's unrealistic. People are so uninformed, and they just end up spouting nonsense without a clue what they're talking about.
I am looking for someone—specifically someone who isn't creepy or potentially dangerous—to just talk to and perhaps help pull me out of this depressive slump. It would be ideal if you were from somewhere like Miami, but honestly, I’m open to chatting regardless of location. I want to talk about things other than myself—though, to be perfectly honest, I might be a bit of a narcissist, or perhaps I'm not; it's a fine line, really. I desperately need someone who can actually make me laugh, but I should warn you: I am incredibly picky about that, given my rather cynical, morose, and downright malicious sense of humor. I'm 21, and you can find out the rest of my life story via DM. Just don't take it personally if I don't reply; sometimes when the depression hits, even the simple act of typing feels like an impossible task...
I’m looking for someone to chat with—and maybe grab a coffee with... someday, eventually. Honestly, what am I even looking for? I’m not entirely sure myself, though I do know exactly what I *don't* want.
I'm not looking for some possessive type who won't let me have any breathing room.
I'm not looking for sex—at least not for a while.
And I am definitely not looking for someone who will dump all their baggage on me; as much as I’d love to be helpful... truth be told, other people's drama just drains me dry. Yes, go ahead, call me selfish if you must.
What I actually want (not "look for," let's be precise) is a person who can be my rock—someone to give me that push when I'm struggling to find my own momentum. I want someone who can stick by me when I feel like nobody else can tolerate me.
So, what do I bring to the table?
It sounds incredibly silly, but you can't really ask for anything without offering something in return.
I offer a witty individual currently engaged in a rather successful battle with some internal demons.
I offer a free spirit who tries her best to withhold judgment and truly understand people.
I'm well-read—or at least, I consider myself to be... though lately, my college workload has been eating away at my reading time.
I'm 21, and I'm not conventionally attractive. Much like most people on these forums. I have a decent face, but I'm carrying some extra weight. About 55 pounds extra, to be exact, though that number is steadily dropping.
That’s why I’m not hunting for a boyfriend, but rather a friend—man or woman—to exchange messages with and talk about everything and nothing. I don't always need deep, philosophical discussions; sometimes just recounting my day is plenty. I'm not interested in those grandiose, ego-driven personalities, but I'm not looking for wallflowers either.
Balance is what I'm after. It's what I need.
If this happens to resonate with you, reach out.
By the way, gender doesn't matter. If you see yourself in these words, get in touch.
I'll repeat this with a disclaimer: I can be quite hot and cold, and I know I'm not the easiest person to deal with. If that's your cup of tea, be my guest.
Preferably a woman.
Are there actually still people out there who watch Big Brother?

That’s why I’m not hunting for a boyfriend, but rather a friend—male or female—to message and talk about everything and nothing. I don't always need deep, philosophical debates; sometimes just recounting my day is plenty. I’m not interested in grandiose personalities full of themselves, but I also don't want anyone who's overly timid or repressed.
