Moderator Gotterdammerung's hysterical meltdown in Feedback & Suggestions ·
hollowtrucker77 said:My apologies on behalf of the moderator—she’s a huge snake enthusiast and knows her stuff.

Thanks.🙂
I see she just picked up a warning, too. Look, the whole point of this thread isn't about getting the moderator Gotterdammerung punished—it’s more about her having to face some accountability. Honestly, I think she’d actually prefer seeing more traffic on SON and having a decent atmosphere here, anyway.🙂

P.S. Just because someone loves snakes doesn't mean they have to hate humanity.😁
Moderator Gotterdammerung's hysterical meltdown in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen moderator Gotterdammerung snap at someone on the "World Around Us" subforum. That section isn't just for experts—you’re bound to run into an amateur asking something that makes them look clueless, and she just can't help but let them know it.

Sure, the moderator has helped plenty of people clear up confusion, but honestly, it's weird to see someone lose their cool like that just because they got frustrated.🤷

A few people have actually complained right on the subforum, making it clear they stay away specifically because of her. Probably explains why the traffic there is so thin.🤷

Here’s one case:
A guy posted about how he killed a snake that his two-year-old stumbled upon in their yard. In the heat of the moment, he didn't recognize the species—panic tends to do that to you—so he didn't stop to identify it or even bother Googling the patterns to figure out what it was before he killed it. He uploaded a photo to the forum just to ask what kind of snake it was and if it was dangerous, so he’d know what to do next time.

Moderator Gotterdammerung’s response was basically this, and I quote:
You ignorant, idiotic animal.

Not even the guy's explanation—that instinct to protect his kid kicked in and identifying a reptile wasn't exactly his top priority—was enough to satisfy the moderator. She ended up calling him a special needs primate rather than a human being. Told him he was uneducated, mentioned we only have three venomous snakes here in the States, and said he wouldn't be able to tell them apart anyway.

Is it just me, or is this hysteria totally over the top?🤷
I feel for the snake, fine, but clearly the guy didn't kill it for fun—he did it out of fear. So why the meltdown?

The question is: What do we do about moderators who have zero self-control?

I mean, sure, it’s ugly, it’s totally unnecessary, and it’s just... bad design—but what specific problems is it actually causing?

I don't see how it slows down page loading, nor is it one of those annoying pop-ups that jumps in front of the text to block your reading, or some floating element that drifts across the screen while you're scrolling... It’s really not a big deal.

Honestly, that "Atlas" (?) anti-clockwise ad is way more irritating.

I kind of like her.

Rachel Sanchez64 said:The idea that "the customer is always right" isn't about truth; it’s about avoiding unnecessary arguments. In this instance, the retailer handled it perfectly by offering an apology, a replacement, or a full refund. Those are the standard protocols used to maintain brand loyalty. However, that's a separate issue from the fact that, in this specific case, the buyer was acting like a complete moron who likely hoped the seller would just hand over $6.75 so they could turn a little profit on top of it.

Honestly, it's time we retired that cliché.

Since when did everything become acceptable just in the name of world profit? Since when do we tolerate behavior that's straight-up subhuman just because someone's spending money?
Store owners basically force their employees to swallow insults and play nice even when some jerk is screaming in their face or acting completely unhinged.
Because of people like that, the rest of us end up stuck watching these awkward, miserable scenes—overworked cashiers breaking down or getting humiliated in the middle of an aisle. It sucks for everyone involved.

If you ask me, basic human decency should come before the bottom line.

Megan Brooks said:I’ve certainly been targeted by those kinds of idiots before, people who show up without the slightest clue what they’re actually trying to accomplish...
And then, almost predictably, they let slip that legendary line about how we can't even make it onto the global stage with people like this, as if they were actually talking about me.

Honestly, I just let both ears receive the noise only to let it pass right through, remaining completely indifferent, and isn't it funny how they eventually start losing their minds once they realize I'm not giving a damn about their nonsense?

You have no idea. 😬
Even more legendary is the one back home in Germany...🧐

🤣

We all indulge in nonsense sometimes...
Take returning stuff you bought just because you changed your mind—provided it’s not damaged or anything.
I’ve heard a few times now that a retailer basically has to take it back if a customer returns a dress within two or three days.
No reason needed. Just "I changed my mind!" 😵
It's ridiculous.
By that logic, I could buy a dress on Friday, wear it out on Saturday, and bring it back perfectly fine on Monday. Every single weekend.

The only way I’d allow that is if the customer shows me a doctor's note proving they were incapacitated that Friday.🤣

An acquaintance. 🙂 Not a friend.

She’s got a solid career—never had to grind away behind a counter at a coffee shop or a retail store.
But honestly, that tells you nothing about who she is as a person.
My neighbor works retail, yet she spends half her time trashing the staff at our local CVS. 🤷

Nicholas Gomez5 said:Buyer or seller—we’ve all played both sides at some point, haven't we? So let's not be so quick to judge. You aren't just a "customer" or a "vendor"; you're a human being with dignity, and so is the person on the other side. Let’s start by respecting that!

It’s vital to remember that EVERYONE IS LOOKING OUT FOR THEMSELVES.
Don't take someone else's negativity personally. Usually, those outbursts are just a projection of their own internal frustrations...

In this scenario, the actual product doesn't even matter. If it wasn't bread, it would have been a jar of pickles...
They just targeted the clerk as a way to vent their own inner rage...

As a seller, you have a choice: you can soak up that frustration and get dragged into their drama, or you can simply lay out the available options (like a refund, an exchange, a formal complaint form, a manager's direct line, etc.). And if things cross the line into personal insults or become physically aggressive? That's when you call for a manager or dial 911.

Easier said than done.

I know this woman—always complaining about how "rude" the cashiers at Target are.
Turns out, she’s actually the one being rude to them. To everyone. She acts like she's some higher class of person.
So, how is a worker supposed to not take it personally when my friend decides to dump her bad mood on them? It's pretty obvious she's just picking on them because of the job they do.

Nicholas Gomez5 said:You can withdraw it under material expenses, as long as you back everything up with receipts.

Do I need to prove everything upfront or...?
Basically, is it mandatory to make the purchase first (collect all those paper receipts) and then withdraw that exact amount from the business checking account
or am I allowed to just pull out a lump sum (basically moving it to the petty cash drawer) and then slowly gather receipts over time until the balance clears?
If that's an option, does it mean I can just keep a certain amount of cash sitting in the office safe without having to explain why it’s sitting there instead of in the bank? And is there actually a legal cap on how much cash a small business can keep on hand?

I know I’m probably not using the right accounting terminology here—hope this makes sense. 🙂

Nicholas Gomez5 said:You won't actually have the full amount sitting there ready to go. The bank is going to snatch their service fees right away—and those fees change depending on whether you signed up for extras like online banking. You really need to leave some cushion in there so the bank can cover its monthly service charges.
Let's say you could actually pull out about $6.50.

That's basically treated like a loan that gets hit with sales tax.

Thanks for the info.

Instead of treating it like a loan, can I just pull the cash for the business account and record it as petty cash?
That way, I could pay all my small cash expenses directly from the register.

Could be. Probably picked it up from him—his coworker.

What's the best way to clear this up?? And can my little one catch it from me??

The smart move is seeing a dermatologist—obviously.

Though, if I'm being honest, I skipped the doctor initially and just grabbed some Dow Chemical cream. I applied it twice a day for maybe a month or two. Those spots stayed white for a while—since the fungus basically eats the pigment—but once the sun finally hit them, they tanned up and blended back in with the rest of my skin.

Edit: Not sure about the baby. I'd assume so, since it's contagious.

brightmaker73 - it's most likely tinea versicolor—just a basic fungal infection. Do a little digging on Google.🙂
