Karen Sanchez35 said:I'm hunting for a YouTube link to that one match where the goalkeeper catches the ball, then uses it like a slingshot—basically a rubber band shot—straight into the chest of a striker charging at him. If I recall correctly, it was some lower-tier American league, maybe something involving a team like St. Louis City SC or similar... I just remember the ref pulling out the reddest card anyone has ever seen in his life...

thanks

Probably not quite this—since it isn't the Midwest—but it’s definitely in the same ballpark:

And here’s some more for you... 🤦

I haven't had a chance to sit down and really dig into this video yet—my schedule has been a bit of a disaster lately—but I did manage to pull it up earlier while I was grabbing coffee. It’s one of those things that looks straightforward on the surface, you know? But once you start peeling back the layers... well, there's always more than meets the eye. Just my two cents for now.

Everyone knows Vaduz—they're a pretty decent second-tier side back home—going up against those newcomers from Gibraltar.

Just a quick heads-up, though—starting this season, Vaduz is actually back in the top flight. 😉

The Martingale strategy and anything else progressive... it just isn't going to work.

Eric Fox7 said:• I’d really appreciate it if we could skip the whole debate about Martingale and those other "betting" styles—or let's call them what they actually are, gambling—because we've been over this a thousand times already.

01:00 Phla - New York Cosmos Cosmos to score @ 1.40 (SS) (2-1) (2 @ 4.10 p/k 2/2 @ 6.00 (0-0/2-1) handicap 2 @ 9.00 all Germany)

Round of 16 match for the US Open Cup—Phla is looking pretty rough right now. Last week they barely scraped past some amateur squad from Harrisburg, and even then, it took overtime (mind you, they only managed to find the net for 1-1 in the 89th minute). On the other hand, the Cosmos got back in action in 2010 and they're absolutely killing it in the NASL league—kind of like the second division where they’re actually the reigning champs. They’ve been sitting in second place too, and they're in great form: four wins in a row, and they haven't lost in their last seven games if you count the draw. Honestly, I think it's just small details keeping them from breaking into MLS, and this matchup shows they wouldn't be any pushovers over there. In the last cup round, they absolutely dismantled their local rivals, NY RB, with a 3-0 win.
I'm feeling like they'll get on the scoresheet, and frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if they walked away with a win against a mediocre Phla side.

Kickoff is in about ten minutes—sorry, didn't have enough time to get this posted earlier.

Good grief, how can he be at fault when he clearly had the green light? 🤷
He was definitely speeding, sure—but there is absolutely no way he was doing 100 mph like everyone is claiming.

My heart goes out to those who lost their lives, truly, but the idiot over at the Shell station blew right through a red light.

Orlando City vs Inter Miami over 3+ @ 2.05 (HL) (6+ @ 10 (SS), 7+ @ 27 (Germany)) (0-1)

So, we've got this matchup in the US second division—two teams sitting right in the middle of the pack. Both sides are averaging about three goals per game, which tells you everything you need to know. They score plenty, sure, but they also give up way too much, so you see those wild 3:3 or 4:4 type results all the time.

If you look at their head-to-head history, it’s pretty eye-opening—in five of their recent meetings, there hasn't been anything less than four goals scored, and both teams have found the net every single time. Honestly, I don't see why today would be any different. 🤷

Look, no single site out there is ever going to be 100% reliable—you really have to cross-reference a few different sources to get the full picture.

Sites like Results.com or the stats over at Soccerway definitely shouldn't be your only gospel truth.
Soccerway is actually pretty decent for the most part, but they can be a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to keeping things updated in real-time.

ironcyclist81 said:Nitra is sitting there with 23 points, so far... Six less. If DAC Dunajská Streda doesn't somehow manage to pull off a clean sweep—which would be a total miracle at this point—and they end up dropping everything, I honestly don't see how they'd even escape the fallout. Even if they did, they’d just end up sitting there with the exact same number of points anyway... which is pretty ridiculous when you consider they’re actually playing at home against 3. Trnava.

Nah, that's not right—DAC Dunajská Streda is getting docked 6 points, so they’re actually tied on points now.

I'm still looking for the evidence on this one—honestly, I feel like I've been scrolling through these threads for hours and coming up empty. It’s always the same pattern, isn't it? Everyone makes these huge claims, throws around a few vague theories, and then just... moves on without actually proving anything. It reminds me of that one debate we had last month—remember what jadesailor was saying about the officiating? Total speculation, no substance. And I hate to say it, but if we're going to have a serious discussion here, we need more than just "trust me, bro" vibes. We need actual data, documented instances, something tangible. Until then, it's all just noise to me. I can't believe I'm even looking at this link right now—honestly, why do I do this to myself? It’s like staring directly into a solar eclipse, except instead of blindness, you just get a massive headache from trying to make sense of these numbers. Looking through these results, it feels like I'm trying to solve a puzzle where half the pieces are missing and the other half were chewed up by a dog. You see a score here, then a total blowout there, and suddenly you're wondering if the math even matters anymore. I was scrolling through the data earlier—kind of a rabbit hole, if I'm being honest—and I kept thinking about what James Taylor3 mentioned the other day regarding how unpredictable these mid-season stretches can be. He wasn't wrong, though. It’s all just noise sometimes. You spend an hour analyzing the stats, convinced you've found a pattern, only to realize you've just been staring at a bunch of random fluctuations. It’s enough to make you want to close the tab and go grab a coffee—or maybe something stronger. Anyway, back to the grind, I guess.

DAC Dunajská Streda just got hit with a 6-point deduction—apparently due to some match-fixing shenanigans. Rough deal.

I can't make heads or tails of this link—it looks like a broken landing page or some dead end from an old site. It’s basically just a digital ghost town at this point. If you were trying to show me something specific about the match stats or maybe some news regarding Nitra, you might want to double-check the URL. I'm sitting here staring at a blank wall instead of getting the info I need.

Once this whole thing wraps up, DAC Dunajská Streda is going to be looking at a six-point deduction.

If you’re actually going to put money down on a game, you really ought to do a bit of homework first—really dig into how things are looking. I’m not even trying to argue whether a bet is "justified" or not; I’m just pointing out some inaccuracies here, because getting those facts straight is basically the whole foundation of this pick. 🙂

ironcyclist81 said:Wait, quick edit—does anyone else notice they stopped marking the winning and losing picks with green and red colors? Why'd they ditch that?

I already answered that over in the chat topic.

slybison8 said:Clearly, one of us two hasn't been doing their homework...

Guess Who Quote 🙂

slybison8 said:I guess I might have jumped the gun a little—mathematically speaking, the door isn't completely slammed shut just yet. If DAC Dunajská Streda drops their matches today and next week, and Nitra manages to pull off two straight wins—plus somehow claws back that three-goal goal difference gap they're facing against DAC—then, I suppose, there’s a tiny, crazy chance they could technically stay up in the league. But let's be real, it's a long shot.

Wrong again—because if there actually were a six-point gap, Nitra would be the ones facing relegation due to that head-to-head tiebreaker, which is the very first thing they look at when points are tied.

slybison8 said:The odds for this penultimate round matchup in the American league, Slovan Bratislava vs Nitra, just shifted from 1.40-1.45 up to 1.70-1.75—honestly, a bizarre move and I have no clue what they're thinking.

This was supposed to be a total formality—the top American team playing at home against the bottom-dwellers who are basically guaranteed relegation. Plus, they've absolutely crushed them in every single meeting over the last four years (that’s 7 games, or 8 if you count tonight). If you haven't already put money on this like I did—well, my advice is to steer clear of this pairing altogether, unless you're one of those gamblers looking to spec on something other than a standard win.

Nitra isn't relegated yet, I don't know where you're getting that from 🤔

They've got the same number of points as DAC Dunajská Streda did two weeks before the end of the season 🤷

A single point is more than enough to clinch the title for them 🤷
Anthony Barrett37 said:Can someone just give me a quick rundown of those rules? I really don't feel like reading more than three lines.

Casey White13 said:I'll take a fantasy one. ☕

Here’s how I’d run it—give me your thoughts before I pull the trigger and start a thread:
1. signups
There's room for 32 players to sign up—everyone gets randomly assigned a national team from the tournament. Simple enough.
Basically, every player is going to be facing off against another one based on how their national teams matched up in the first round—sort of like a mirror image of the opening bracket.
Like if a player gets drafted to play for Team USA—they’re playing against Mexico, then Cameroon, then Brazil.

2. rules
Round one—let’s go.
Before that first whistle blows for any given round—three rounds ahead, naturally—every player posts their picks for all 16 games:
* nailing the exact score = 3 points
* nailed the exact difference = 2 points
* correct guess = 1 point
Say, if it’s USA vs. Brazil and we end up at 3-1—but Player A calls it 1-0, they walk away with just 1 point; call it 4-2, they get 2 points; call it exactly 3-1, and they snag all 3. Simple enough, right?
The winner for this round is whoever racks up more points—they walk away with three—and a tie earns you just one. Simple enough.
It’s basically 3 sets of 16 games—then everyone in first and second place moves to the next round, paired up like A1 vs B2, C1 vs D2, and so on. Just like a real tournament setup. Even the tie-breakers follow the standard rules. ☕

Round of 16, game two.
So, all eight matchups are set—and here’s how the points stack up:
Winner gets one point. Simple as that.
So, imagine this—Brazil beats Chile 3-0, but some player calls it 4-0 and walks away with one point instead. Just typical stuff.
If you pull off a draw but grab the win in overtime or via a shootout—that’s 2 points on the board.
So, say France and Nigeria tie 1-1—France moves on. But if a player calls it a 2-2 draw and then France wins it on penalties? That’s 2 points. If they call it a 2-2 tie but Nigeria ends up taking the whole thing—that's just 1 point. Simple enough, right?
Exact score = 3 points.
Say, like if the US played Chile and it ended 3-0—if a player calls that exact score, they snag 3 points. Simple as that.
Score a perfect draw—meaning you nail the exact scoreline before heading into overtime or a penalty shootout—and you walk away with 5 points.
So, say France and Nigeria tie 1-1. If you call it a draw but then bet on France to win the shootout—bagging 5 points—while Nigeria ends up taking the whole tournament with just 2 points... that’s some wild math right there.
Bonus info—if a player nails 6 out of 8, they grab 3 points; 7 out of 8 gets them 4; and if you go a perfect 8 for 8, you walk away with 6.
The player with more points wins—straight to the quarterfinals they go. Simple as that.

Game 2 of the quarterfinals.
It’s basically like the round of 16—except instead of eight matchups, they’re just throwing four pairs at us. Real efficient.
Bonus rule—if you nail 3 out of 4 semifinalists, you grab 1 point; if you go 4 for 4, you get 3 points. Easy enough.

Second semi-final, third-place match, then the big finale.
They're running both rounds at once just because there aren't enough games—classic.
The player hands over their picks to the host—then we just play by the standard tournament rules for the round of sixteen and quarterfinals across all four games.
Plus, besides his usual finishing touch, he’s throwing in extra combos for all the other potential matchups—just because.
So, here’s how it works: if you pick the USA, Germany, Argentina, and Brazil for the semis, and then nail the third-place match and the final—great. But—and this is the kicker—if you miss even one semifinal winner, the whole strategy falls apart. You’ll end up scrambling and sending in different combos just to salvage the last two games. Though, if you actually call the semifinal winners correctly? You snag a 5-point bonus. Simple enough, I guess.
