wiredfalcon2 said:Look, I don't live in the States, but neither do you. You’re just out here spouting nonsense under the guise of "Do you even know what's happening in the USA?" as if the whole country is just some tiny neighborhood in Cleveland rather than a massive federation of 50 distinct states and over 300 million people who don't all think or act the same. It's not like growing up in a place where half the population is Hispanic, or out in the sticks with the Amish, or in NYC or LA where you can walk down the street without getting harassed every two seconds. To lump all that together into one big "what's happening in the USA" category is a joke. If you actually knew anything, you'd realize how much things vary from state to state—both in terms of lifestyle and local laws. Like, surely even you realize that marijuana is totally fine in some states but strictly illegal in others. Or that abortion access is wide open in some places and practically impossible in others. It's not all one thing. Get it together.

Look, by generalizing "what's happening in the USA," you’re basically proving you don't have the slightest clue what's actually going on in this country. You clearly don't get how people live in different states, what the local vibes are, or even the specific issues hitting certain areas. It’s like trying to claim real estate is unaffordable just because you looked at prices in Miami, when you could head out to a small town in the Midwest and pick up a whole house for the price of a single balcony in Miami. Get it now?

What you’re peddling right here is just that classic Bretton Woods "alt-right" logic—that whole "they're silencing us" routine. It’s pure "catch the thief" nonsense. I mean, look around. We're living in a country where conservatives are running the show, holding both the White House and the Senate. We're in a place where, in half the states out there, even basic gay partnerships aren't legally recognized yet. And for God's sake, we have Trump in office. So don't come at me with this tired crap about how "you can't say anything anymore" because some "progressive minority" is supposedly running everything. Give me a break.

Look, I’m telling you right now, you’re just spewing baseless nonsense straight out of some alt-right fever dream. It's nothing more than bottom-tier internet trolling at this point. Seriously, go try applying for a US visa and see exactly how many background checks and hoops you have to jump through first. Then maybe you can come back and lecture me about how some progressive minority is running the show and letting everyone into the country without a second thought.

You ever realize there are like 2,000 companies floating around in the US under HKC that aren't even subject to any actual oversight? It’s wild. And then you've got the church being the biggest property owner in the entire country. Honestly, all this talk about the church being "under threat" is just nonsense. It's like saying Real Madrid isn't allowed to win a title because of the USSF. Give me a break.

Look, I actually agree with you on this one. The Church needs to be its own little sovereign state. Obviously, if some random creep is out there assaulting kids, he belongs in a federal prison. But if it's a priest? Well, the way things work here in America, they just shuffle him off to a different parish. The cops and the legal system shouldn't be poking their noses into church business, which is exactly why they don't mess with it here in the States. 🙂

So basically, you don't know what's actually going on over there either, but you've decided I'm just talking trash because you haven't said anything useful yourself. Fine. Great.

If you were actually informed, you'd realize there are massive differences between individual states—both in lifestyle and local laws. I mean, surely you're aware that marijuana is legal in some states and not in others. Or that abortion is legal and easily accessible in some places, but not in others. And so on, and so forth...

Really? Thanks for that groundbreaking insight. Truly.

By generalizing "what's happening in the USA," you're proving you haven't the slightest clue about how things actually work in the States—how people live in specific states, what the local customs are, or what the actual local issues are. It's like concluding real estate prices are sky-high based on San Francisco, when you could buy a whole house in a small town in rural Wyoming for the price of a single balcony in San Francisco. Clear enough now?

This is such a ridiculous pivot. I was talking about extreme liberalism and the media outlets that fuel it. I'm talking about the narrative that is loudest simply because it comes out of Hollywood and holds the most powerful media platforms in the USA. I didn't say their opinion dictates everything—otherwise, as you pointed out, Trump wouldn't be president. I was mocking the hypocritical stances of these people who have clearly become exhausting to everyone, from late-night hosts and cancel culture to extreme versions of the "me too" movement, all the way to the hypocrisy seen in the NBA regarding China. It's precisely because these people have zero contact with the average person.

What you're doing is classic Great Britain "alt-right" logic—the "stop the thief" mentality. You're claiming that in a country where conservatives hold power, including the presidency and dominance in the Senate, in a country where gay partnership isn't even legal in many states, in a country where, for God's sake, Trump is president, you're telling me we "can't say anything anymore" because a "progressive minority rules and we're silenced."

More insinuations. Where did I ever say people aren't allowed to speak? Where did I say this minority is ruling? I only said they are the loudest, and I mocked the most extreme cases of liberalism. I don't know why this gets under your skin so much, but as usual, you've just dumped a pile of garbage here without answering the actual question. What exactly did I get wrong regarding those extreme liberals? Now I'll throw an insinuation back at you: you're clearly one of them, since a normal critique of this stuff seems to bother you so much.

Please, just tell me what you think about what Dr. Phil wrote. Does such a policy exist, and what's your take on it? Or what do you think about the situation in New York City, for example? Actually, don't bother. You'll probably just start rambling in a hundred different directions.

From what I’ve gathered talking to most of the older generation, there’s this incredibly aggressive narrative regarding homosexuality—at least among everyone I’ve encountered. They view it as some kind of contagion. But once they start drawing those disgusting parallels to pedophilia... Look, if they claim they don't mind people doing whatever they want as long as it doesn't involve us, that's one thing. But the second you mention children, all those underlying prejudices come flooding out. It honestly makes you stop and wonder where the hell we are and how this kind of rhetoric is even possible in the 21st century.

Sandra Johnson58 said:It’s the same story in other places too, especially over in England and Sweden, where if you even try to offer some constructive criticism, certain groups just lose their minds and start crying about racism or xenophobia. It's honestly ridiculous. I mean, there’s actually a woman sitting in the UK Parliament whose takes on victims of gang rapes aren't exactly great, either. Seriously.

🤣
That’s a pretty funny thought, I guess, but it feels like a bit of a stretch to say that applies to everyone.

Exactly. Just look at what’s happened in London and how much the crime rate has spiked over the last few years. And the Mayor? He basically tells people they just need to get used to terrorism. They'd rather tell citizens to adapt than admit there’s a massive problem that needs solving. Robberies, assaults, rapes... everything is up. But heaven forbid anyone speaks up about it. I honestly don't understand how anyone can defend such twisted politics when it’s clearly costing lives.

wiredfalcon2 said:Look, you wouldn't believe how much it actually matters where you live if you’re gonna act like an expert on a place. If you haven't spent at least three months there—six if you want to be taken seriously—you should probably just shut up. You’re just talking out of your ass based on some media bubble fed to you by people who think exactly like you do because you liked their posts on Facebook. I’m saying this as someone who’s actually lived outside the US. So, yeah, my guess is you just get your news from Reddit memes. Otherwise, you’d realize the vibe in Ohio is nothing like California, which has zero in common with Texas, which isn't anything like Indiana. And don't ever pull that "that's just how it is in the USA" crap; that's like taking some random situation in Gothenburg and claiming "that's just how it is in Europe." A problem in a neighborhood in Gothenburg has nothing to do with what's happening in Cambridge, Portugal. Not even getting started on the fact that you clearly have no clue which regions hate each other in Canada, let alone anything more complicated than that, especially since it's a tiny little country.

I don't use Facebook. I only use Reddit for sports and pop culture. Generally speaking, I have zero interest in meme culture, unlike you, apparently.

Do you actually live in the US? From what I can see, we're veering off-topic by speculating about where people get their information, what their political leanings are, where they reside, or what they need to know to grasp a situation. I'm asking you nicely: explain exactly what I wrote wrong instead of circling around the question of why I'm supposedly in the wrong.

In the 21st century, your location actually matters if you want to make sense of global affairs.

And where did I ever claim that conservatives are under threat? I simply laid out why they’re gaining ground and the specific reasons why Trump rose to power. I have no idea what part of my post you found so "absurd" or "unrealistic," but it’s obvious you have a soft spot for extreme politics if basic facts like the ones I mentioned above bother you so much. Honestly, I expected this exact kind of comment. ☕

wiredfalcon2 said:So, can you actually point to a single feminist defending a culture that treats women like second-class citizens? You can't. You're guessing, right? Nowhere. It's the exact opposite. What actually happens is they call out corporations and countries that play nice with problematic places like Saudi Arabia while putting on a big show for the public about fighting for human rights. Stop talking nonsense. Liberals aren't out here defending Muslim culture either; they're defending freedom of religion—as long as people follow the laws of the country they live in. So, in this whole little drama, you're the only joke here. ☕

P.S. If it weren't for liberalism and human rights, you'd be the first one sent to Treblinka. Pretty obvious, isn't it?

I see nothing but manufactured outrage from a loud, tiny minority in the States. They’re more interested in barking about irrelevant nonsense just to satisfy some obsession with diversity and insane liberal extremes than actually addressing the points you made.

You clearly aren't paying attention to what’s actually happening in the States. Look, I’m not saying everyone is like this—that would be a tragedy—but there is a specific breed of hardcore liberal/feminist out there that makes me lose my mind. They’ll scream from the rooftops when someone else violates rights, but the second a Muslim commits the exact same offense? They suddenly vanish. They crawl into a hole and stay silent because speaking up would contradict their precious "progressive" principles. There isn't a soul among them willing to say anything negative about a minority group in their own country, even when they have every right to.

I have plenty of examples where Muslims arriving in the US... Another country. It’s obvious they have zero respect for local customs and just treat women exactly how they would back home. But apparently, we’re all supposed to look the other way because "it's their culture" and we have to be respectful. They shouldn't be expected to adapt to our way of life like everyone else does. We can joke about the Christian God all day long without anyone blinking, yet the moment someone says something against God, suddenly it's a matter of respecting cultural sensitivities. And I'm saying this as an agnostic. I really hope you aren't one of those people, because if you are, you're a complete joke. ☕

Regarding the last point, I have nothing against liberalism. In fact, I’m definitely more on the liberal side than the conservative side regarding most issues. However, what happened during Mardi Gras was completely unacceptable; I’m with urbanhawk17 on this one—the whole situation was idiotic and shouldn't be tolerated. What really grinds my gears, though, is the hypocrisy and the push toward extreme liberalism. Nothing is good when it drifts into extremes. What we are seeing unfolding across Western Europe, the US, and Canada is pure extremism. If there's any silver lining, I believe it's that this is just one loud minority rather than everyone, but that specific group is doing massive damage to the liberal movement as a whole. It’s glaringly obvious that the right wing is gaining ground globally—in the US, the UK, and various European states—precisely because of this extremist, frankly moronic politics. I hope nobody takes offense at that last part. ☕

It is absolutely hilarious watching liberals and feminists defend a culture that stands in total opposition to everything they claim to fight for. This is where their hypocrisy really hits its peak.

The mob mobilized instantly, launching these first attacks that feel borderline like terrorism. Who on earth is going to secure our borders against illegal immigrants now that our progressive elite will be too busy sipping cocktails at high-end restaurants with their groomed poodles? 🙄

Justin James10 said:What is even the point of having a dog in a restaurant? The poor thing looks like it's struggling and I'm certain it isn't enjoying itself one bit, yet the owner insists on dragging it along just to have it there. :šuker:

The whole point is just playing it safe. ☕

Charles Roberts33 said:Well, bravo, genius. That was the only thing missing. So, according to you, anyone who doesn't care for your dogs—or fails to grasp the sheer, blissful privilege of being in their esteemed company—is nothing more than some uncultured lowlife from the backwaters. Bravo, truly. Round of applause for that one.

Good grief. It’s truly a gift, isn't it? To walk into every single debate with this desperate need to prove you're the most stubborn person in the room—ready to take shots at anyone who dares disagree—while being completely incapable of actually listening to a word they say. That kind of selective hearing is quite a talent.

That’s just his modus operandi. ☕

Morgan Brown4 said:But isn't the whole point of going to the theater to see a movie in that cinema atmosphere? That's where movies belong.
Personally, I skip the older stuff and don't bother watching them at home; I'd rather wait for a screening at those cool indie or alternative theaters...

Plus, you can always go on a Wednesday and spend way less than $13 (I still have my student discount, so it doesn't even matter that much to me), and you can pick a time slot where you can knock out 2 or 3 movies back-to-back. You basically get multiple films for the price of one ticket. 😉

Oh, and sure, because obviously American movies are the only ones that exist and the only ones hitting theaters this year. 🙄 We actually had about ten interesting titles come out in January, some American and some international. Though, let's be real, most were just leftovers from 2019. 😛

And hey, it's totally fine that The Avengers and Superman are usually such unpredictable, high-quality films. Especially Superman.
Actually, it's probably a good thing that the last time a Superman movie was actually decent, it wasn't almost 40 years ago. 😁

Bragging about theft isn't exactly a look that screams "class." ☕

Typical response from a dog owner: if you don't agree with them immediately, the insults start flying. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it were any other way. ☕

Look, what happened above was clearly a joke, but I still stand with most people here regarding dogs in restaurants. It’s not some massive crisis, obviously, but your attitude in a civil discussion—turning to insults just because someone disagrees—is incredibly irritating. It makes me wonder how we grew up in such a backwater society where we can't even disagree politely. 🙄

But they traded away their grit and their backbone just to chase that kind of success. Now, at the end of the day, they’re sitting in some high-end bistro with poodles on their laps, being coddled by waiters who eventually serve them a hair in their coffee. It is the total downfall of the white man in the West.

Look, he isn't getting an award for his entire career. These awards are for the best performance of the year, and he was easily in my top 10. He could have been nominated without breaking a sweat; plenty of much worse performances made the top 5. I haven't sat through every single nominee's film (like Banderas or Pryce), but in my book, he wasn't any weaker than Driver or DiCaprio. Honestly, the winner was the only one who actually outdid Sandler. Last year, he would've cruised right into the top 5.

Where I'm from, it's just common sense—waiters at a restaurant should automatically bring out a water bowl for my dog, and honestly, it’s rare to find anyone who doesn't stop for a second to give him some pets.

Every once in a while, I get a real nice reminder of why you should just steer clear of this entire country.

🤣 🤣

The last part is just pure comedy to me—the idea of a waiter petting a dog and then immediately turning around to serve food to a customer. For once, I'm actually glad I live in this absolute wasteland.

I'm genuinely stunned by the disbelief here; your little circle of friends isn't exactly the gold standard for proving my point that plenty of people would rather not have dogs hovering near them while they eat. No offense intended—you're clearly an intelligent guy—but I truly don't get why you're surprised that a significant percentage of people share this sentiment.

I realize these links aren't exactly high-brow academic journals, and they'll probably just get swarmed by Byron bots anyway. 🙂

It's because he's a dog owner; he's part of the cult. People like that live in their own little bubble. ☕

Dogs run all over the place. They often learn bad habits, like being messy in restaurants and leaving tracks everywhere. Even when they seem "well-behaved," they still smell, especially the giant breeds. It's not some sci-fi fantasy to suggest that restaurant owners and customers just don't want that.

For some people, dogs actually matter more than human beings. And then they have the nerve to throw those tired clichés at you—claiming everyone should just be as smart and kind as a dog to make the world a better place. Give me a break. 🤣 🤦
