Honestly, I’d advise against using Cash on Delivery altogether. It ends up costing the recipient way more than they realize...

In my opinion, shipping via a tracked package is definitely the safest bet. Basically, the higher the declared value of the books (meaning, the more you list them for), the higher the postage cost will be. However, God forbid anything gets lost; if you declare a high value, you actually get that full amount back in insurance. With any other method, you won't be fully covered if something goes wrong. You can go onto the USPS website and calculate the exact cost based on weight if you're sending a flat envelope, or based on value if you're sending a package... for example, shipping a package valued at $33 would cost $5.00, while a value of $133 is about $8.75—and that applies to all packages up to 11 lbs (so for packages under $1.75, the value matters more than the actual weight, whereas with standard letters, it's all about the weight). Also, Betty Kim55—how do you even know your package arrived if the mail carrier didn't leave a notice? If you're certain it's there, I think you should be able to pick it up just using your full name, since those slips always seem to get lost anyway...
