If you click on the reply count in a thread, you can see exactly how many times someone has posted there. That guy used to love doing that. What an idiot. ☕
Username changes aren't allowed unless you're just fixing a typo, like capitalization or minor spelling tweaks. If an admin—since they’re the only ones with the keys to change names—updates it for you, you won't lose anything; your posts, DMs, and settings all stay intact, you'll just have a new handle. You can delete your own posts as long as they're still within the editing window. Once about five hours have passed since you posted (I think it's 300 minutes), you're out of luck.
Timothy Fowler39 said:The last two sub-forums in General don't even have a moderator... seriously, is it really that much to ask to let someone step up and learn the ropes on these smaller sections? It wouldn't bother anyone, and nobody would end up hating them either, since if we managed to get by without one until now, a moderator won't exactly be busy handing out bans all day anyway.
Moderator positions aren't handed out just so people can "learn the ropes." This isn't a training seminar. If someone wants hands-on experience, they should just start their own forum and figure it out as they go. For instance, www.forumer.com lets you set up your own site using two different software options, so there's plenty of room to experiment.
Edit: Looks like someone beat me to the punch, sorry if I'm repeating myself. I'd delete this, but I'll leave it up for the sake of the link. 🙂

They either suggest someone themselves—since they actually know how this place works—or they pick one of their fellow mods. Then we get a group of potential candidates together and hash it out. Once a decision is made, we reach out to the candidate to see if they're actually down to moderate. If they say yes, then we just wait for the big boss to give the green light. It also happens that someone will just slide into a moderator or admin's DMs to volunteer. From there, the process is exactly the same (assuming it's actually determined that we even need a mod in that spot, the current mod isn't against it, and the boss gives the okay).
That’s pretty much the gist of it. If anyone needs more specifics, just hit me up.😁
Word on the street is there might be more to it too.😬
That's about it. 👍
Most of the new mods were basically "invited" by the old guard. In my case, an IMF official recruited me. 😬
