Chloe Taylor40 said:I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good dermatologist. I've started getting these painful, deep breakouts along my jawline. Does anyone know someone reliable? Also, do I need a referral from my primary doctor?

If you're planning on heading to a hospital, you'll definitely need a referral from your general practitioner, though if you decide to see someone at a private practice, all you really need is $83...
Since I'm not based in NYC, I'm afraid I can't offer much help regarding specific doctors in your area. Best of luck with everything!

My mom is totally on board; she’s taking me to see my gynecologist, and she even mentioned how her periods only last three or four days now—even though she used to deal with the exact same stuff I do.
I know everyone is obsessed with low-hormone pills these days, but honestly, as far as I'm concerned, I don't care if they have more hormones, as long as they actually work. I feel like garbage every single day from everything else—food, drinks, you name it—so why wouldn't I do something to make my life easier?

And the doctor? He’s just being a doctor. I don't believe him when he says I shouldn't be relying on Ketorolac at sixteen because nothing else seems to help.
First, he asked if I wanted to try the weaker ones in capsule form, and I was just like, "No. Give me the Forte. The blue tablets." He gave me this look like my stomach was going to dissolve by tomorrow morning.
As for Ibuprofen packets, he told me I should only take half a dose—like 300mg instead of 600mg—since what's the harm in staying low?
I basically threw five bucks down the drain for that advice. -.-

$18??? 😲 My doctor actually wrote mine on a prescription, and I think I only paid about $3 or so... 🤔

Well, I don't know, I take the capsules and they work wonders for me. It’s true that it takes some time for them to kick in, but man, they REALLY work!!!! 😍😍 A friend of mine told me she sometimes just takes two capsules at once because one isn't enough for her. I'm not trying to encourage anyone to do that, but I just want to say that I would be willing to do the exact same thing just to make the pain stop.
As for birth control, I don't take it anymore since I was on it for a good eight years and felt it was probably time to quit (plus, I've been dealing with some side effects lately). But I used to take it even when I didn't need it for protection, just to keep my skin clear and my periods painless.😍

For me, the Ketoral doesn't really kick in until about two hours have passed, though I find it provides my best and most lasting relief; even if it only lasts six or seven hours like you mentioned, that’s honestly quite a blessing considering how some other pills barely touch the pain for four hours, or don't work at all 😢... plus, I don't feel like I'm dealing with heavy bleeding when I take it 😍😍

You might start feeling much better once you begin taking the counteracting tablets; personally, I found that my pain became incredibly rare whenever I stayed on top of them, and my flow was significantly lighter. I am truly keeping my fingers crossed that you manage to find the specific ones that work best for your body 👍

p.s.—Please tell your doctor that they shouldn't be so preoccupied with your stomach health at the expense of addressing your unbearable pain. I was also given those little packets of Ibuprofen; they are fine, I suppose, but Ketoral is simply Ketoral

Sandra Peterson74 said:The pain is so unbearable that nothing actually works. My only option left is to crawl into bed, hug a pillow, and just cry. :P
I’ve been to the gynecologist for exams several times. No cysts, no issues... everything comes back perfectly healthy.
I started my period in fifth grade and was taking painkillers almost immediately. By high school, I was already moving from Advil to much stronger doses. Now that I’ve built up a tolerance to basically everything, my doctor prescribed Nalgesin 275—which is usually reserved for post-op recovery. After taking that, I couldn't concentrate at all; I couldn't even follow what was on TV. I felt so drugged that I had no choice but to go lie down. To make matters worse, the pain didn't ease up one bit. I just ended up lying in bed, groggy and in agony. It seems my doctor is just as clueless as I am about what to do next. Every single month feels like I'm performing manual labor.😱

I actually tried that Nalgesin 275 once, but it felt completely useless to me and didn't help at all.😢
I ended up going right back to Advil.🙏🙏
I was wondering if anyone here might have some personal experience with the cross-linking procedure, or perhaps you know someone who has undergone it recently?
👍If you could share any insights or details you might have, I think we would all truly appreciate the help.

Hello, everyone.

I was wondering if anyone here might have firsthand experience with either Dr. Gverić or Dr. Bubičić-Bajek—they are both dermatologists practicing in San Diego.
I am having a bit of trouble deciding which one to visit, especially since their rates seem to be identical, and I would truly appreciate some guidance on who to trust for an examination.

Thank you all in advance.😍

Yes... we have drifted quite far off-topic, haven't we? In much the same way, I find myself quite a distance from San Diego, though the city remains absolutely brimming with material ripe for inspection, so if anyone is interested, please feel free to dive in. 😉

If it happened, then it happened, and there really isn't much else to say about it. I suppose one could argue that the world is just a little bit richer for having one more silicone push-up out there.

It seems I have inadvertently caused a moment of amusement, though I must admit I am somewhat unsure of what exactly triggered such a reaction. 👍

Eric Wright29 As expressed by:
Regarding the questions being asked—psychiatry used to be my primary field of expertise, though I must admit my knowledge might feel a bit dated by today's standards. I believe I stated that quite accurately, didn't I? ?

I truly appreciate the support from everyone here.
Mold on clothes and shoes in Health ·
I appreciate both of your responses, though I didn't run it at 95°C because I was worried the silicone might actually boil, 🤣

besides, Eric Wright29, how on earth did you manage to figure out that I'm such an impatient person? 🤔 😉
Strange under-the-skin bump in Health ·
About three months ago, I noticed this little growth appearing on my hand, and it honestly seemed to show up overnight. It’s grown to about 5mm now, and there's this darker spot right in the center that looks somewhat like a subcutaneous wart. I’ve heard bits and pieces that this can happen, but I haven't been able to find anything definitive or clear about it online.
This "growth" feels quite firm to the touch, almost like a small bead, and it doesn't actually hurt under normal circumstances; however, whenever I accidentally bump my hand against something, the pain is absolutely excruciating—it feels as though someone is driving a nail directly into the spot. :'(

Of course, I plan to see a doctor at the very first opportunity, though I happen to be traveling in another city at the moment, so for now, I was just wondering if anyone might have some insight...
Has anyone here dealt with something similar or perhaps heard of this specific kind of thing?

Thank you.
Mold on clothes and shoes in Health ·
First, please forgive me if there is already a similar thread on the forum; I searched quite thoroughly but couldn't find one, and I honestly wasn't sure where else to post this (there is a discussion about mold in homes, but that seems focused on wall growth and things like that)

So, recently I pulled my lovely white bra out of the closet, and just as I was getting ready to put it on, I noticed something gray "inside." It looked almost as if a patch of mold had formed on the inner side—specifically right on the silicone padding. It was about an inch wide, with a darker spot right in the center. However, I couldn't tell for certain if it was actually mold, because when I sniffed it, there wasn't really a scent. I went ahead and washed it, and the spot disappeared...
But now— is it possible that was mold? (It feels so strange that it would appear on the inside like that). The bra is practically new, maybe worn only once, though I suspect I might have tucked it away in the closet before it had completely dried from the last wash! 🤷 🤷
I didn't use an iron to try and kill any spores with heat or steam, mainly because of that silicone insert; I’m a bit worried the heat might cause it to crack. 😁

What I am wondering is how dangerous that kind of mold can be when it shows up on clothing, and if washing the item makes it safe again? I've read that some people just wash their clothes and keep wearing them without a second thought... I don't know, I've never dealt with anything like this before and I'm feeling a little lost. Should I just throw the bra away (even though it's brand new and they don't carry this specific style at the store anymore), or is it okay to wear it now that it's been cleaned?

Thank you. 😍

Jason Morgan said:Honestly, I feel just as much pain regardless of any sexual (in)activity 😁

Honestly, I could easily find myself coming to the conclusion that if I had just remained a virgin, I would have spared myself all this heartache and pain. 🤣😂
But then again, when things truly felt that way for me... 😁

melloworca6 said:If we women say we’re feeling miserable, then fine, let the guys say they’re having a rough time too. 😬

Girls, have you noticed that everything just seems to get worse as you get older?

Back in the day, I didn't even need pills because I could actually tough out the cramps. Around age 18, things started getting heavy, but I could handle it with just one Tylenol. Now? Every month gets more brutal. The flow during those first two days is getting heavier and more intense. It honestly scares me to think what it'll be like when I hit 40.

It feels pretty much the same for me, though in my case, the pain started intensely in my lower back before eventually spreading down toward my lower abdomen.

Now, this might be a silly conclusion to jump to, but back when I was a virgin, a friend told me that once I started having sex, my period cramps would become absolutely unbearable. I didn't believe her at the time—I thought it was impossible. And if I’m being completely honest, she was right! It feels a bit foolish to try and link the loss of my innocence or my "sexual history" to this, but the reality is that things are just getting worse and worse. Every once in a while, I might have a lighter month where I can go without pills, but that happens maybe once a year at most. Also, I’ve noticed that the pain has actually intensified since I started or stopped taking birth control. While I was on the pill, I barely even felt my period, but since I stopped, the pain has been significantly worse than it was before I ever started using them. 😢

Does anyone else here have similar experiences?? 😕🤷

Grace Anderson3 said:Look, let’s not turn this into a "who's suffering more" competition right now. 🙂
Everyone knows their own body best. Maybe I just have a higher pain tolerance, or maybe it’s just what happens after ten years of competitive sports pushing my body to the absolute limit, or maybe I'm just totally wrong about this... 🤷
Try making it through one full cycle without any pills (take that advice with a grain of salt, you don't have to listen to me) and see if the next month feels any easier.

Whew... thank you, I suppose, but honestly? No, thank you! 😲😲
I suspect this might be an option for those who experience milder discomfort, though I won't presume to speak for anyone else's level of pain. From my own perspective, however, I wouldn't personally recommend it to anyone. I’ve become quite attuned to how my body reacts to these things. Over the past year, there was only one occasion where my cycle was light enough that I managed to get through without medication, but in 99% of cases, the pain is so intense that I find myself doubled over in bed, groaning and trembling uncontrollably.
I don't mean to sound like I'm lecturing anyone, but if you're asking for my take, I’ll always find myself advocating for those blessed little tablets.

I suppose I should probably share this, though I’m often quite hesitant to speak up in these digital spaces, fearing my thoughts might come across as a bit too heavy or perhaps just plain unpolished. There is a certain quiet gravity to the things we experience, isn't there? It feels as if we are all just drifting through these vast, interconnected currents, trying our best to find a sense of steady ground amidst the constant movement of life. kaže:
Not every woman should follow this particular path. For those dealing with intense, heavy flows, stimulating the uterus can actually cause blood vessels to dilate, which might lead to even heavier bleeding. In some cases, that kind of thing could become quite dangerous.

I completely agree; I was actually just thinking the exact same thing.

copperraven53 said:Same here. On the first day of my period, I definitely deal with digestive issues too. I guess those cramps probably trigger it all.🙄

Frendica and I have often discussed how menstruation might actually be viewed as a sort of general biological cleansing process; it seems to us that on that first day, both of us end up releasing as much as we would typically shed over an entire week. 🤣🤣

Honestly, I’ve noticed the exact same thing; during the first day of my period, I seem to find myself heading to the restroom four or five times in a really short window of time. 🤷

P.S.—Alright, I know I’ve wandered a little far from the main topic here, but I felt a sudden, nagging need to share this with all of you. 😬 😍

I suppose I should probably offer some small reflection on my recent thoughts regarding finances, though I am quite aware that my perspective is likely far from being the definitive word on such a complex matter. It often feels as if I am merely drifting through these economic tides without much of a compass, yet I find myself sincerely hoping that others might find some measure of stability amidst the chaos. kaže:
I have never once reached for those remedies, even during those moments when the pain became truly unbearable.
I have finally, once and for all, let them go.
......
There are many ways to approach this, naturally. One of them was kind enough to lend me a hand.Long live nature. 😍😍😍

Jason Morgan, you really nailed it with that "African paprika" comment... honestly, you sound just like one of those fast-talking pitchmen you see on late-night infomercials. Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you truly have discovered some kind of magic cure and you're going to boast about it this much, you might as well just share it with the rest of us. Or is your plan to wait for someone to slide into your DMs just so you can try to sell them a load of nothing? ☕

I sometimes find myself wondering if my constant preoccupation with financial security is a sign of a deeper, perhaps more anxious nature, though I truly believe that being prepared for whatever life throws our way is simply the most prudent course of action. It is quite easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer complexity of modern economics, yet I try to remain steady and focused on the long term. kaže:
It’s truly disheartening to see so many young women turning to chemical substances on such a regular basis. While I realize these things might offer a fleeting moment of relief or help ease physical tension in the short term, one can't help but worry about the long-term toll it takes on the liver and the rest of the body as they struggle to cope.

What feels even more disheartening is that most doctors, especially gynecologists, seem to lack any real ability to offer genuine guidance, choosing instead to just prescribe some toxic pharmaceutical mess from the drugstore... it’s honestly quite revolting.

The liver actually has this incredible capacity to regenerate itself, so I truly believe that taking just one or two tablets a month isn't going to cause any significant damage; it would be a much more serious issue if we were foolish enough to be popping them every single day.

I sometimes find myself wondering if my tendency to overthink these small interactions is simply a symptom of a mind that refuses to settle, though I suppose there is a certain quiet comfort in being perpetually lost in thought. kaže:
Since you seem so deeply invested in our well-being, perhaps you could have shared exactly what worked for you instead of spending all this time lecturing us.

I was actually thinking the exact same thing... if there truly is such a thing as a "carb remedy," then I suppose this forum exists specifically for us to share our experiences. But, as I mentioned before—and I say this with a fair amount of skepticism—that all depends on whether such a thing even exists.

Personally, for my last few periods, I’ve been using Spasmenal—that's a antispasmodic for anyone who isn't clued in—and I'll tell you, antispasmodics work way better for me than standard painkillers. I used to pop a few pain relief pills a day and still end up with digestive issues because uterine cramps tend to trigger my gut cramps too. Now, I just take one antispasmodic and I'm fine.

The thing is, I used to use Bucol before, which is also an antispasmodic but comes in lozenge form and is much easier on the stomach than Spasmenal. My mom wouldn't let me get that without a script this time, so she got me Buscopan instead. But then I actually read the instructions for the Buscopan and realized it isn't for all types of cramps—it's specifically for gastrointestinal stuff like your stomach or intestines.

I was actually just about to ask if anyone else has had any experience with it, because my mom mentioned she used to take it during her period... I thought I might give it a try, though I’m always a little hesitant to experiment when the pain is truly overwhelming.😢

Yeah, I read that too, but I think I just foolishly assumed the pharmacist at the drugstore definitely knew exactly what they were recommending to me.🤷

I used to be one of those people who thought they could just power through anything, until I finally understood the true weight of real pain and what it actually feels like to experience those intense waves of suffering. Once I took that first pill, the idea of simply enduring the agony without help didn't even cross my mind anymore.
I suppose, as Kate Foster12 would say, it isn't exactly as if one is consuming them on a daily basis; taking just one or two tablets once a month shouldn't cause anyone any real harm.
