Honestly, I am absolutely loving being pregnant!!!
Aside from the fact that my back is killing me, and I’m constantly snapping at people, and I can’t stop bursting into tears, and I can't even lie on my stomach for a quick nap in the afternoon, and I can't roll from side to side without a struggle, and getting out of bed requires a full mental pep talk, and my left hip is constantly aching because the baby's head is probably pressing right on a nerve, and I have to hit the bathroom three times every single night, and my stomach is covered in stretch marks, and I waddle like a duck, and I can't even manage basic grooming, and I have to go out and buy an entire new fall wardrobe because nothing fits anymore, and every single bra I own is too small (and finding my size is a nightmare as it is), and I get these bizarre cravings at weird hours—like 4:00 AM—and everyone keeps badgering me about how much longer I have left...

But seriously, I just love being pregnant. 😍
I seriously cannot wait to meet my little one!!!!!!!!!!
My back is absolutely killing me, arrrrrgh!!!!!!! I can’t even get a batch of chili ready without having to take three 15-minute breaks just to sit down, and that’s all BEFORE I even get the pot on the stove!
So, picture this: I’m at the local hospital for a transfusion appointment... and I end up sitting there for two and a half hours just waiting to have a single tube of blood drawn for an IAT test! To make matters worse, they told me they can only handle these on Wednesdays. There was this huge crowd of pregnant women and other patients all complaining about the backlog, and the nurse actually had the nerve to tell everyone they should just pick a different day next time since Wednesday is so busy. Meanwhile, right there on the entrance door, it clearly states: PREGNANT PATIENTS SEEN WEDNESDAYS ONLY.
It’s enough to drive you absolutely insane!
It’s actually pretty ridiculous how they schedule things—pregnant women have these specific windows where they can get bloodwork done, while everyone else is free to come in whenever they want! It drives me absolutely insane. Why on earth don't they just state that those dates are reserved EXCLUSIVELY FOR PREGNANT PATIENTS, rather than implying those are the only days pregnant patients are allowed? Their scheduling logic is completely backwards!
Stubborn chin hairs 🙂
I have no idea how they even got there...
Man, things were absolutely wild at the stock exchange today... I honestly thought my blood pressure was going to hit 200...
I finished up some paperwork and headed toward the restroom, and this older lady who works there also headed that way. She actually stepped aside to let me go first—honestly, looking at her midsection, she’s in incredible shape. So, I finish up, head to the sink to wash my hands, and right as I'm doing that, she finishes up in the other stall and comes out to stand behind me waiting for the sink. Then, out of nowhere, she looks at me and goes, "Take your time, honey, just dry your hands yourself... I can tell you're PREGNANT..." I was just like 😲😕😲, and I told her, "I am not a cow!" then I just dried my hands and bolted

Seriously though.... 😠

I swear, my cellulite actually developed its own damn cellulite during pregnancy 😬

I’m not so sure about that... I don't think you can see cellulite through cellulite. 😁

emazg said:This is absolutely TERRIBLE. I can't believe people actually act like this!!! It's just awful; reading stuff like this genuinely makes me sad.

Did she at least give her a fair chance by washing up first? Personally, I think I would have just pelted her on the spot with juice and deli meat.

If I were there, security would be dragging me out of the store by my calves. And don't even get me started on the language I'd use—I'd tear her apart right then and there. Since I'm such a big girl myself, I might as well use my size to make sure she hears every word while I'm at it. I'd definitely make sure to tell her to watch how she talks to people who are BIG!
Well, I've already placed my order, so I guess I'll just wait those few days...

OT: It’s starting to get on my nerves again—around 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon, my eyes just start drooping. Then, if I make the mistake of lying down for even 10 or 15 minutes, I'm wide awake all night long!!! (And yes, last night was definitely one of those nights.) It must be the weather; the rain and this chill in the air just make everything feel so heavy...
I won't even get started on Ford... I showed up early this morning to get my blood sugar checked (even though you're supposed to make an appointment), but I decided to bluff my way in. My sister-in-law tried the same thing about a month ago and actually pulled it off. So, there I am, the waiting room is half empty, I’ve got all my paperwork ready to go, and then the nurse tells me they can't see me because it's too busy and tells me to book an appointment for next week... honestly, what a joke. It's infuriating!

Meanwhile, over at the transfusion center, people who had referrals for both transfusion and microbiology were getting two tubes drawn right there, heading straight to micro, and just leaving the tubes behind. They were finished with everything in twenty minutes flat. And we all know how backed up the microbiology department gets with 100 or 150 people waiting... yet this transfusion unit could barely handle the thirty of us sitting here.
I was absolutely livid this past Wednesday at the blood center after waiting in line for two and a half hours... and get this: they have a sign saying PREGNANT WOMEN ARE ONLY SEEN ON WEDNESDAYS (but apparently, they see everyone else on Wednesdays too, so we pregnant women end up stuck waiting forever while everyone else just cuts right in front of us) if they had just written PREGNANT WOMEN ARE SEEN ONLY ON WEDNESDAYS, it would have made life so much easier for both them and us, since we can't just show up any other day, whereas everyone else can.... plus, sitting there for two and a half hours just for a single vial of blood (it was a sensitization test because I'm Rh-negative)
It honestly frustrates me that I can't even get up from my desk at the local clinic without my lower back absolutely killing me!
Regarding that whole situation at Walmart, if I were in your shoes, I’d just say it loud enough for everyone to hear: "Well, there are plenty of other stores!" then I'd leave the ice cream right there on the counter and walk out...

And as for the bus or the subway, you should just walk up to the most arrogant person on board and ask, "Excuse me, could you please help me sit down? I'm feeling dizzy and can't stay on my feet," just to see who decides to suddenly go deaf right then

I honestly can't stand those arrogant idiots. I'd give every single one of them a piece of my mind, because that's exactly why people walk all over us—because we don't know how to speak up for our own rights....
If the weather is cool, I don't mind waiting in line, but when I have to pay my utility bills in this blistering heat, I just walk up to the counter and politely ask, "Excuse me, do pregnant women get priority?"... honestly, I’ve got nothing to lose. And wouldn't you know it, they call me forward ahead of everyone else every single time. Just so you know, I'm not actually expecting 🙂))) but hey, if I can get a little bit of luck on my side once in a while, why shouldn't I?
I don't really bother arguing with her; that’s just how all those social workers operate. I mean, I don't know—I'll let you ladies weigh in on that. Either I dive into some professional literature, or if I'm feeling particularly overwhelmed, I just head over to a private specialist instead.
I try asking her about my pain, and she just brushes it off, telling me it’s totally normal and that I shouldn't overexert myself. I ask about this symptom or that issue, and again, she tells me not to worry about it too much. I even bring up intimacy—asking if it's okay—and she just hits me with, "Well, you two have become so closed off." Honestly, what am I supposed to make of responses like that? (Thankfully, I’m a huge medical enthusiast myself, so I already understand the mechanics of all this; I only ask her to see what her take will be)
It honestly irritates me how my wife never shares anything with me; if I weren't constantly reading books and checking these forums, I wouldn't know a single thing about pregnancy. To make matters worse, she just flat-out ignores my questions regarding this persistent, recurring pain in my left ovary area that's been going on since the start of the T
Honestly, there’s one more thing that drives me absolutely crazy... my husband. The second he realizes I’m actually bothered by something, he decides it's the perfect time to just push all my buttons. I actually ended up breaking down in tears right in the middle of a Target aisle because of his obsession with buying sneakers. He’s impossible—this pair isn't quite right, that pair is too much, he finds some tiny flaw in every single shoe. And there I was, feeling completely miserable, dealing with some stomach issues and feeling overheated, just wanting to get home, but he wouldn't budge... he kept insisting we look at more. Then, he finally tries on a pair that looks great, says they feel amazing and fit perfectly, but then follows it up with, "they look kind of cheap." Like, how on earth can his Reeboks look "cheap"??? That was the breaking point for me. I grabbed my box of Adidas and stormed out of the store. It’s infuriating how easily he can throw me off balance... and then he has the nerve to ask why I'm crying!! It's because he knows exactly how to wind me up, especially when my hormones are already making everything ten times harder!
I’m thinking about printing this on a T-shirt: "Touch my stomach and you get a slap!"
Honestly, I feel like I’ve already earned a PhD in backward dodging whenever someone reaches out toward me. So far, it’s only worked against one person—someone I least expected it from... and even then, things got pretty heated quite quickly.
Jessica Ramirez said:Even my friend brought this up once. So what if it’s a mother-in-law or some grandma? Who cares? If the girl is just a little younger than me, she'd figure it out. 😱
Now she’s pregnant too. She actually told me once, "The baby came back to life," and I was just like, wtf? Like, the baby is alive. Was she talking about feeling movement or something?
Whatever. I still don't get it. 🙄

Oh, please. 😢
Maybe you shouldn't say anything at all?! I didn't tell a single soul in my family about the first time, and I still don't say much unless they specifically ask. I'd much rather just keep that stuff between me and my husband.

Kate Cox2 Who says?
My buddy told me she saw some women at a hospital out in California crying because they couldn't go home. Their husbands and mothers-in-law won't even let them through the front door. What kind of people do that? Another girl born.
Sadly, it's true.

I'm from California, and my parents come from deep in Florida. They tell me back then, it was totally common for husbands to refuse to let their wives into the house if they were having girls. Women actually ended up sleeping in barns and all sorts of stuff. 😠

Ali, there are still people like that today. A relative's husband mentioned some guy he knows who had four daughters—I think—and when his wife got pregnant for the fifth time, the ultrasound showed it was a boy. That guy was over the moon! But no, it was a girl. He said the man had a complete nervous breakdown.

What keeps me going is that it seems like there's less of this than before. I honestly think the younger generations don't care nearly as much about whether it's a boy or a girl.

Given everything we’ve been through, we aren't telling anyone a thing. To be honest, I was terrified during this pregnancy that things might go the way they did during my last two, so we're keeping quiet until we're absolutely sure. 😢
I probably would have stayed silent until I actually started showing—which happened about two weeks ago—but instead, other people went and blabbed, and they didn't even check with us first. Now, we either get asked if it's true, or when we finally do tell them, they act like they already knew. It makes me wonder if they aren't celebrating too much because they're worried history might repeat itself? When I sense that kind of pessimism from everyone, it just makes things harder for me and fuels my anxiety.
But I have my husband; he's the one who keeps me calm. He constantly tells me I'm panicking too much and that I shouldn't always jump to the worst-case scenario. But for me... I'd rather prepare for the worst while still hoping for the best.
amberheron62 said:I honestly don't get why everyone is making excuses for this kind of backward thinking. People act like this stuff is just some unavoidable relic from the middle of nowhere or deep in the Central Valley, but it's just plain wrong. I actually stumbled upon a post on here recently where a woman was basically saying, "I can't even imagine being a mom to a girl... ufff. We haven't found out the sex yet, but I'm praying it's not a daughter, because that would be a nightmare." 😢 "

I don't hang out on this forum all that much, but I just had to jump in because it felt like nobody else was calling this out.

Man, that really broke my heart. 😢

You're quoting me, and just to be clear, I've simply always imagined what it would be like to have and raise a son. Maybe it's because I grew up mostly surrounded by women and spent so much time looking after my two younger sisters (one is two years younger, the other is nine). Every sentence I write here is backed by a real story or situation, so please don't jump to conclusions.
Sometimes we get so used to a specific scenario or mental image that anything else throws us off balance, and it takes a little while to adjust to the new reality. For my part, I am absolutely overjoyed 😍, even if I'm still a bit dazed and need a little more time to shift my mindset toward all the different aspects of raising a daughter 🙂 🙂 🙂
I have to admit, I'm doing great so far, and I couldn't be happier!!!!!
And I just absolutely adore my little girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, thanks for labeling my perspective as primitive...
