Brenda Kim56 said:So, I’ve got a question—not a huge crisis, but I could really use some perspective. For the first time ever, my cycle is running late. I’ve actually dealt with the opposite issue before—back in high school, everything would come every two weeks—but things eventually leveled out to a steady 20–25 days. Lately, it’s been hitting at the 28-day mark, and it’s never gone past that. Now, I’m already a week late. My hormone levels have always been fine—bloodwork always comes back perfect. So, I’m wondering: should I go ahead and get my hormones checked again right away, or maybe look into something else? Or should I just wait a bit longer? Is it normal for things to be late sometimes? Could it be stress, the heat, or just... something else? Should I grab a referral for the OBGYN or for bloodwork/hormones ASAP?

When did you start your period?

Melissa Kern55 said:I know, but thanks anyway—you've definitely calmed my nerves a bit for tomorrow. I'll go grab those morning-after pills then... Do you happen to know what the side effects are? Like, will I still get my period regardless of the fact that yesterday was my last day? I heard some girls deal with nausea and dizziness too...

Look, I’m going to be brutally honest with you. Personally, I haven't used them because, for me, it feels basically like an abortion—but hey, I’m not here to lecture anyone. Everyone has the freedom to make their own choices, and I’m certainly no smarter than anyone else with a different opinion.

BUT

From everything I’ve heard from girls who have used emergency contraception—whether it's pills or shots—it’s like their whole body just flips upside down. It's usually pretty unpleasant. The more sensitive ones said they felt like they were actually going to "die" from the stomach cramps, though I honestly think they might be exaggerating a bit. I was with one girl for three days after she took them, and yeah, she felt sick and had stomach pains, but that's kind of how it goes for women when they take something like a strong laxative, so... 🤷

Look, it’s definitely not exactly sunshine and rainbows, but you'll get through it. 👍

Melissa Kern55 said:Honestly, I’m starting to feel like it’s just one of those typical, sneaky little pains—you know, the kind that feels like a dull stomach ache but isn't exactly intense. I can't tell if it's all in my head because I've been obsessing over it all day, or if it's an actual stomach issue... I'm just stuck thinking about it.

It could be psychological—or maybe you just ate something bad or hit the junk food a bit too hard. I don't know, sorry, it's impossible to say for sure.

Melissa Kern55 said:Honestly, I wasn't even expecting this to happen—it totally caught me off guard. I’m heading to my doctor tomorrow to get the emergency contraception; they told me I have a 72-hour window to take the first dose. Does anyone know if stomach pain is a thing with this? I know this isn't exactly the right place to ask, but I just need to vent a little since I was already being so careless... 😢

What kind of stomach pain?

Keith Vaughn, I’m really digging your stuff. Seriously—how much did that set you back? And where'd you pick it up?

Melissa Kern55 said:Hi everyone! I wanted to ask about fertile and non-fertile windows. My period just ended yesterday and I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Since my cycle has been pretty regular over the last three months, could those be my fertile days?

Look, nobody here can give you a definitive answer.
Why? Because according to the textbooks, it shouldn't be possible—but textbooks aren't reality, and biology is unpredictable. I actually got pregnant during that exact window myself. 🤷 Anyway, have you been tracking your basal body temperature at all over the last six months or a year?
If you have, then I can help you figure it out. If not, I'm sorry, but even with all my professional knowledge and experience, I wouldn't dare give you a guess.

Jesse Murphy76 said:Back when I worked at a local shop—which unfortunately ended up closing down—we used to have quite a few ladies coming in who specialized in baking, and they always suggested calculating about four treats per person.😉

That’s too little—and honestly, it depends entirely on what kind of cookies we're talking about. A chocolate fudge brownie isn't exactly the same weight as a coconut macaroon or a classic sugar cookie—it's just weird math to me.

I'm 16, and my period has been super irregular lately.
Usually, I don't get bad cramps before my period or deal with heavy bleeding. My main issue is that my last period was back on June 14th...
I haven't had a period in almost two months now...
The thing is, for the last three weeks, I've been getting frequent cramps—like the ones right before a period—and my breasts are sore to the touch. I talked to my mom about it, and she suggested it might just be an infection... I know that might not be the most responsible take, but sometimes I end up standing in a wet swimsuit for too long🙄...
Honestly, I'm terrified. What is going on??

p.s. This isn't the first time my period has been late—once it skipped an entire month and a half—but that was due to stress from some family stuff going on...

Stress definitely hits your cycle hard—diet plays a huge role too. Still, you really should go get checked out. If you aren't sexually active and your hymen is intact, doctors can use what they call "baby speculums" during an exam so nothing gets damaged.
Either way, bring someone you trust along. You mentioned you already talked to your mom and she thought it might be an infection—so just go see a doctor.
If it makes you feel more comfortable, find a female gynecologist, though it doesn't really matter which one you see.
I'm sure everything will be fine; your body is going through massive physical, mental, and hormonal shifts right now. These kinds of changes are totally normal, but you still need to pay attention to them.

By the way, infections don't happen just because you wore a wet swimsuit. Every infection has its own specific cause that either attacks you or just waits for your immune system to dip.

Yesterday I stumbled upon this great little bakery in Naperville—$3.25per person, a wedding cake for 200 guests goes for $667, and if you want marzipan, it’s $4.00 per head. Their decorating style is lovely, plus their pastries are super moist and flavorful, so I’m betting the cake is just as good. It’s right downtown and called "The Cheesecake Factory".
I also happened to find another solid spot over in Columbus; prices there are around $600 and they are incredibly organized. The pastries are flawless, and they actually follow all those tiny rules for proper serving—which honestly blew me away since you rarely see that—like how they serve a Sacher with actual cream and all those little details
Anyway, highly recommend. Oh, and the lady at the Columbus shop even told me they offer free delivery all the way out to Columbus!

Man, this thing is absolutely gorgeous... seriously stunning... but honestly, who's actually gonna pull something like this off here in the States?! 😢

So, what—sticking fabric flowers onto a cake? Anyone else🤷
seriously thinking about it? Look, just make the flowers yourself out of fondant or sugar paste—but for real though, what do you think?

Does anyone actually know if this is even doable... and what the inside might look like?
We're expecting about 170 people, plus more cakes and desserts...

Honestly, it’s a piece of cake, baby. 👍
You just need a talented pastry chef. For a cake like this, you don't necessarily need a super dense base—like a Sacher—you just need a solid internal support structure, you know? Something to keep the whole thing from collapsing.
As for those decorations around the edges, that's just chocolate work.
I can't really recommend anyone in New York City who could pull this off—to be honest, I just don't know. Other than me, obviously. 🤣

I’ve been around the block—done all that before. Honestly, they just ended up screwing me over even more. 👍
