Thanks so much. 😘 I guess I’ll have to hunt down my GP to get a new referral because the one I have right now is totally useless. Seriously, I don't even know who to turn to... Last time I asked for a thyroid referral, she just sent me to some guy who basically just poked my neck and told me everything was fine. He didn't run a single test, let alone check my hormone levels... or even do an ultrasound.. 😕 Honestly, I'd rather just pay for a private specialist. Is there really no such thing as a private family doctor?? 😕
I’ve been struggling with my weight for quite a while now—like, the last few years have been a nightmare because I’m chronically underweight. Nothing works to help me gain any weight at all. Every single time I go to see my doctor, she just brushes me off like, "Oh, you should be happy, tons of girls would kill to be that thin..." HELLO ???? I am definitely NOT happy when I look like a walking skeleton. I’m about 5'6" and only 99 lbs. She just tells me to eat more (which is impossible because I have zero appetite) and blah blah blah... So, two months ago, they found a cyst on one of my ovaries and my CA125 levels were high (50). I went to a private clinic to get some blood work done (metabolic panel, CBC, urinalysis) and took the results to my doctor to see if everything was okay. She barely even looked at them. 😲 😲 Then, when I asked her, like, what it actually means that my sodium is low, she just told me I need to eat more salt...🙄 And I swear, I already eat a ton of salty stuff...😕 Basically, whatever I ask her, she just says, "Oh, it's nothing serious," etc., even though there are six different things flagged as abnormal on my labs. I asked her for a referral (to wherever you go for specialists) to check if maybe I have parasites or something—someone told me that could be why I have no appetite and can't gain weight—but instead of actually looking into it, she just immediately wrote me a prescription for Pfizer.😲 😲 Like, why would we even bother investigating if I'm just supposed to pop pills? I mean, HELLO ????
So, please, if you know a good GP or family doctor who will actually listen to my health concerns and sit down to talk through my problems, please recommend them to me. It’s not even about the money; I just want to hear a smart explanation, an actual opinion, or some real advice because I’m losing my mind with how much she dismisses me. If she weren't so useless, I wouldn't be a walking skeleton with these crazy lab results.
Please help, I'm seriously desperate. On top of all this, my gynecologist is sending me in for surgery to remove the cyst, and being as skinny as I am right now... I'm terrified I'll lose even more weight after the procedure... 🙂 Thanks in advance! 🙏
Since everyone’s talking about Emma, I gotta jump in and share my experience just to give them a little reality check 😉 So, for my wedding, I ordered this WHITE whipped cream cake—three tiers, all separate, they were supposed to stack them at the venue I show up to pick it up and it’s PURPLE!!! Total disaster, though luckily I had purple decor at the wedding. Imagine if it had been red. We call the manager and she’s acting like she knows it was supposed to be white, acting all confused about why it ended up purple 😲 They told me they’d leave some extra whipped cream so it could be fixed once the tiers were stacked. So I’m asking for the white frosting, looking her dead in the eye, and she hands me white cream 😲 but the cake is still freaking purple 😕 I’m there trying to defend myself, explaining how I can fix this with white frosting... and she just gives me this blank stare. 🙄 And now I’m out of the purple frosting too. In the end, I asked them to box each tier separately, but they didn't even have covers for most of them. My dear friend ended up having to carry the whole thing in her arms all the way back to the Suburban area. They ended up not charging me for the cake and apologized, so I let it slide and actually went back to them later for my honey's birthday cake. It tasted a bit weird. Since then, I only buy their cookies.
The cookies are great!! Except they also "forgot" to give me 2 lbs of cookies that were sitting in their fridge (and those were the little scraps of my absolute favorites 😢 ) even though I asked at least three times if that was everything. 👎 Thank god I grabbed some extra treats when I saw there wasn't much left, otherwise there wouldn't have been enough. And yeah, I paid $ $33 / lb (since I picked how many pounds of which cookies I wanted) for those mini ones and some other kind I can't remember, and the rest was $ $27. They didn't exactly look like the photos on Emma's website, but they were tasty. 👍 Anyway, I figured calling them out might help shake them up so they might actually improve. 🤷
Sean Long4 said:Honestly, Anci, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the pastries from Em... I haven't actually tried them myself yet, but...
I noticed nobody mentioned anything about a fruit tart or maybe a fruit parfait... personally, I'm just not a chocolate person. (I know, I know, call me crazy... but it's just not my thing.) I really don't see myself ever eating a chocolate cake—whether it's a parfait, a mousse, or whatever else you want to call it. I was leaning more toward something fruity.
Is that really not a common choice? Also, just for the record, there is absolutely no way I'd want anything made with margarine... gross.
Hey girl, I'm right there with you, I hate chocolate cakes too!😍 Don't even sweat what anyone else thinks. For my wedding, I did three tiers—the huge bottom one was Black Forest, the middle one was a dark and white chocolate mix for my guy, and the tiny top tier was a fruit parfait. I didn't actually taste it since I was busy being a bride, but hey.🙄 The cookies were incredible, though. Seriously, everyone was raving about them, and I even snacked on them after the wedding, so I know they were legit.😍
So, I picked up my cake from that bakery, Em, over on Malešnica. It would’ve cost me $200 if they actually charged me. Everything went sideways that day—just total chaos—so the cake ended up looking nothing like what I actually ordered. And don't even get me started on how it almost fell apart right there! Honestly though, the crew at Em were actually super fair. Once they realized they totally botched it (I mean, it was purple when it was supposed to be white, they didn't have a lid big enough for the bottom tier, they didn't give me extra frosting to fix the gaps between layers...), they didn't charge me a dime. People kept telling me it tasted great, but who cares? I didn't even get a chance to try it. As for the photo... I'll post it once my cousin sends me the shot of the disaster zone, and then one of how we "fixed" it 🙄 Basically, nobody cared except me—since I knew how it was *supposed* to look—and my aunt, who was practically losing her mind watching the thing start to crumble. So yeah... 😳

WOW, seriously though, she is absolutely stunning 😍
So, on Thursday I went ahead and put a deposit down for some treats at M&M's. They even gave me this little sampler box to try at home. Seriously, they are incredible!!! Usually, I’m not even a big dessert person—especially not those dry, crumbly wedding cookies everyone serves—but these are so creamy and delicious that I basically inhaled half the box by myself 🤣. Now I’m low-key stressing about whether 25 pounds is enough for 80 people. We aren't doing that whole tradition of sending plates home with guests anymore, but it still feels like I might run short. I don't really want to overdo it with the extra portions, but still... Plus, let's be real, they ended up being way more expensive than other places because I was super picky about exactly what I wanted. I cut out all those boring dry ones and went full-on with the Minions and all kinds of creamy stuff. 😁 What do you guys think? Should I just bite the bullet and order more? 😕 My aunt was telling me that 25 pounds is actually plenty since these things are so rich and heavy. 😳
Joshua Clark said:Look, honestly—I picked those shell-shaped ones because I figured they might be your vibe. Just give me a straight answer on which one actually fits your style best, so I can get a better feel for what you're after.
Man, it’s like you raided my personal Pinterest board for desserts! 😁 Those elegant, simple ones from page 45? Yeah, those are totally my speed. Honestly, if you don't come up with something better, that's officially my #1 pick right now. 🤣
I dealt with iron issues for years, and then I just started smashing green salads almost every single day. The last time I went in for bloodwork, my doctor was basically floored. She told me my levels were absolutely perfect—even though I’m skinny as a rail😬 so I gave her a little piece of my mind about how I’ve been eating tons of salad, and she just goes, "Well, yeah, there's plenty of iron in those." Like, good morning, genius!!! She could have just told me that from the jump instead of making me waste money on all those supplements. Honestly, sometimes doctors just drive me insane.😠
