We managed to get his spirits up for a little bit, but as soon as one thing starts looking okay, something else goes sideways and we're right back at square one.

And yeah, looking for someone private—I want to get all those tests done ASAP so the poor woman isn't stuck on some endless waiting list.
Thanks!
Zachary Mendoza2 said:Does anyone have a lead on a solid vascular surgeon or maybe a urologist? I need someone who actually knows how to handle arteriovenous fistulas for hemodialysis. Down in Miami, they've got Dr. Ribičić, but honestly, my impression of him is pretty terrible based on all the patient horror stories I'm hearing. One guy's fistula failed, another's got clogged, someone else ended up with an infection, and this other poor soul had to go under the knife five times already...
People seem to have way better luck with Dr. Pasini over by the Rib, but it looks like he isn't taking patients anymore. I really need another name—doesn't matter if it's private practice or anywhere else, even outside the US, as long as you know someone who can actually do the job right the first time.

If you’ve had any solid experiences lately, please, please let me know. I’m looking for someone for my mom, and honestly, I don't just want a doctor who knows their stuff; I need a real human being who actually cares about their patients. Any leads would be huge. Thanks! 🙂

Ashley Martin78 said:Got a referral for some thyroid blood work.
So, I finally sent off that email to the central ordering department over at Vinogradska Hospital today.
I've been put on the schedule for April 26th.🙄
So, I went ahead and checked with one of those private labs to see what they’d charge me... $80
And all I've got left is zero damn love.
Does anyone actually know if the wait times are any better at other hospitals? Or is this just how it is everywhere now?
Anyone got any ideas?

Does anyone actually know anything about this? If you've got any info, please, for the love of God, speak up!

Why?
I'm looking into getting stitches removed.
thanks!

So, look, I am an extreme hiker—like, seriously, I hit the trails every single weekend no matter how crappy the weather is. Last time, I was out in some absolutely brutal conditions: rain, snow, wind... you name it. When I got home, I felt fine, totally okay. But then, by day four, things started feeling weird. Just this general weakness... and by day five, the pain near my kidney kicked in. I popped a 400mg Ibuprofen and it helped a bit, then I switched to Neofen, which is basically just 200mg Ibuprofen anyway... and even with that, I was still hurting, just less so. I honestly thought I was having some kind of kidney attack! Then, when I finally went to the ER, they asked if the pain was shooting down my leg. And yeah, I told them I felt this lightning bolt sensation in my leg a few times, and I kept trying to find a specific position to sit in because I had to keep my leg half-bent just to get some relief. I've been sticking to the Neofen since it's half the strength of the regular stuff... I've been feeling nauseous too, especially in the mornings, and the pain seemed to hit harder early in the day than later on...
Today is day five. I'm taking the Neofen, and the actual kidney spot doesn't hurt anymore, but it feels like that dull ache you get from a bruise after you take a hit, so maybe it's passing? But... I got up about an hour ago and this weird back pain flared up—the same kind of thing I get when I sleep on a crappy mattress... I've got it all over my back right now. It isn't intense, and I took my Neofen seven hours ago, so I should be fine soon, but this pain feels exactly like when you catch a nasty draft. Oh, I forgot to mention I also just started taking B-complex vitamins for nerve health... the vomiting was worse yesterday, but it's settling down now... I don't know if this is just a massive head cold or what, but I am completely lost... the doctors here have zero interest in actually guiding me toward the right treatment. If there is any doctor out there who thinks they know what this is or what I should do, please, give me some advice... maybe I'm just overthinking it and it's not that serious... I mean, the pain isn't unbearable now, though it was way too much last Friday and Saturday... it's calmed down... I just don't know if my back issues are just from my bad bed (since I've always had that problem) or if it's part of whatever illness this is...
p.s. cigarettes gross me out right now, like when you have the flu and can't stand the smell.

My mom was just diagnosed with bile duct cancer. Honestly, between all the medical jargon, the endless info, and all the "what if" scenarios, my whole family and I are losing our minds. Just... completely losing it.
She’s scheduled for surgery next week to try and get the tumor out, but she called me today totally hysterical. Apparently, during her latest talk about the surgical plan, the surgeon was being "human and sensitive"—which is basically code for being as graceful as a cow doing ballet. And now I'm stuck all day fighting this internal battle about how to get her out of the hospital (outside of Chicago) and move her back to the city, but it feels impossible. She doesn't want to go, and with her symptoms—the jaundice and the itching—we can't exactly just bring her home and figure it out later. We need better options.
I don't know. We are trying *so* hard to stay positive and beam that energy over to her, but then one single sentence from a doctor just sends her straight into a depression. Look, we all know this surgery is massive. We know there are complications, we know nothing is guaranteed, and we know even if it goes perfectly, there's still a long road ahead... but shouldn't the patient be calm heading into something this heavy? Instead of getting discouraged by doctors who don't know how to phrase things? 🤷
God, this emotional rollercoaster is brutal. There are moments where I feel like I'm watching someone else's life... and then suddenly, I'm just paralyzed by fear.
I've been scrolling through this entire thread—there is so much courage here. I just really hope we find the strength and everything else we need to get through this.🙂
