I’ve been spending way too much time lately staring at draft boards and looking at those average rankings, and honestly, I’m starting to get a bit of a headache from it. Every year, I find myself getting sucked into the "consensus" logic, thinking that if everyone is picking a certain guy at a certain spot, I must be the crazy one if I don't follow suit.
But then I look back at my drafts from last season and realize I overpaid for half my roster just because the big names were being pushed so hard by the popular projections. It feels like the "average" is often just a way to inflate the value of players who are more hype than actual production. I’ve learned the hard way that following the crowd usually means you're the one left picking through the scraps by the time the mid-rounds roll around.
I'm trying to be more disciplined this year and actually look for the discrepancies—the guys that the mainstream lists are either way too high on or completely ignoring. It's much harder to go against the grain when you're sitting there in the middle of a draft and the clock is ticking, though.
Do you guys tend to stick close to the projected rankings, or do you actively try to find the players that everyone else is overvaluing?
@Steven Brown5 ... you're talking about friendship and deep connections now, but I was thinking more along the lines of when someone barely knows you and just makes a snap judgment from afar...
Steven Brown5 said:Look, lady, aren't we all basically hunting for company because we need it ourselves? We aren't seeking people out for their sake; we're doing it for our own.

You have to be the one to initiate things, and look, it doesn't mean every single person you hang out with has to be part of your "inner circle," right? No way.
The crew from the gym, grabbing a beer after a workout, just shooting the breeze about training—that’s it. Having different vibes with different groups is exactly what keeps life from getting boring and actually adds some flavor to it.
There isn't anything fake or shallow about it; it’s just about sharing a common interest with people.
It’s not a requirement for people to love us on some soul-searching, deep level; it’s enough if the vibe is good and we’re having a decent time hanging out. Just being friendly and getting along is plenty.
That heavy-duty, deep-seated love is reserved for your lifelong friends and your family.
Maybe the author feels taken for granted, or maybe that's just an illusion—maybe it's time to rethink what she's actually expecting from people?
Personally, I'm fine as long as people are happy to see me; they don't have to love me.
Yeah, I feel the exact same way... as long as everyone's having a good time in the group, that's what matters, whereas who actually loves whom is a whole different story... 🤷
I feel like most people just default to taking others for granted because they're stuck in that mindset where they're always the main character... Like, nobody really wants to go out of their way for someone else unless there’s some kind of immediate payoff involved...
So they just grab whatever is right in front of them, you know? They just take the path of least resistance and go with the first thing that catches their eye... ://
I’ve always felt that once you actually call out a toxic belief for what it is, it starts shifting in your subconscious too...
Hey there...
Looking for someone to spend some time chatting with tonight... :]]
Just a heads up, I'm originally from the San Francisco area, and I deal with some F19.2 stuff—figured I should mention that since we're all hanging out on a mental health forum anyway...
I'm also on the lookout for a friend, if anyone’s interested, maybe for grabbing coffee once in a while, going for walks through the woods, or just talking about whatever comes to mind...
I tend to be pretty low-key; I'm not the type to force myself on people, but I can hold my own in a deep conversation with the right person, and I definitely have a sense of humor—mostly self-deprecating, though, because why not keep things light?
I'm pretty open-minded about what counts as "real life," even if I occasionally wander a little past the boundaries of reality myself...
Bottom line, I'm not a bore and I usually enjoy getting out and doing things. So, if you're feeling up for it, feel free to shoot me a DM... :]]
@driftingcanyon2, yeah... that's exactly what I was getting at...
@Alex Barnes93, man, both of them are labeled as A4, yet they’ve got totally different San Francisco counts... 🙂
Hey, I was wondering where I could track down, or maybe how I’d go about making, an A4 sheet (210x297mm) but converted entirely into pixels—basically just a blank white canvas at that specific resolution?
