Ryan Palmer2 said:First off, let's keep this civil.

Look, I'm not saying people who drink them are stupid.

Thirdly, you can't just label every little life struggle as a medical condition just to get a prescription for pills.

So this is what I've been waiting for, huh? According to you, depression isn't even a real illness—we're all just making things up, a bunch of attention-seekers and drama queens who love hearing ourselves talk, right? Is that how it works?

I guess I just don't know how to have a civil conversation since I'm clearly just some pill-popping lunatic, right? ☕

They killed themselves because of THEIR OWN ILLNESS, not because of any medication, so quit the nonsense...

So you're basically implying that anyone taking these meds is stupid? Indirectly, at least. By that logic, since we're all patients trying to actually get better, does that make every single one of us idiots just for following a treatment plan? Or is the brain not actually a physical organ, meaning there’s no such thing as an actual disease or brain pathology? ☕

Birth control works, penicillin works, nasal spray works. Unfortunately, psych meds just don't.

Look, you never even bothered to take them in the first place, so obviously they aren't doing anything for you. It’s not exactly rocket science, right? ☕

Look, I didn't even ask you that. If you're going to sit there and act like you know what you're talking about, then go ahead—lay it all out for me. Show me the actual evidence. Bring out the clinical studies that SCIENTIFICALLY back up those lies and those totally biased conclusions you're throwing around.

Ryan Palmer2 said:I wouldn't say my criticism is biased, much less unfounded. Everything I've said is backed by reality because someone actually did the digging.

Robert Collins2, for thousands upon thousands of other people, taking psych meds has ended in death.

The thing is, "psychotropic drugs" is such a massive, vague umbrella term. You've got your anxiolytics, antiepileptics, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, hypnotics, and the list goes on forever.

People have died taking those too, just like countless women who were on the Yasmin pill—so what does that prove? ☕

Does it mean they were stupid for not wanting to get pregnant? Or that me, and a whole bunch of other folks, were stupid for not wanting to end our own lives or spend the rest of our days stuck in a mental ward, so we chose to take that poison instead?

Every single medication is potentially lethal if you aren't dosing it right or taking it under strict medical supervision. Plus, if someone has an underlying condition or a physical anomaly they haven't caught yet that makes a specific drug a bad idea, then yeah, that's the end of the road...

Douglas Long10 said:What’s wrong with you? What kind of illness is this? Just eat some bacon and you'll be fine. 😉

😵 😂

Give me a glass of red, some garlic, and a plate of smoked ham—nothing cures a bad mood better than that!!! 🎉

Those aren't just side effects, they’re straight-up SYMPTOMS of actual depression, but hey, I guess you're clearly too "expert" to have a real conversation about this... 🙄

I mean, how would you even know if Advil is tested? Or Ibuprofen, or birth control pills, or penicillin, or even basic nasal spray? You could honestly sit here listing stuff until tomorrow and still not hit the mark... ☕
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Heh, so depression isn't considered a "real" illness, huh? ☕

Me, I’m just out here crushing my ADHD with some Zeus, haha! 😉

Ryan Palmer2 said:Look, guys, these pills have never actually been tested for this. You realize that, right? Nobody has ever actually proven that "chemical imbalances in the brain" even exist. How are we supposed to know what a "correct balance" even looks like? Which specific chemicals need to be present, and in what exact ratios? A test like that has never even been conducted 😢

It’s all just a multi-billion dollar racket run by Big Pharma

🤦

First off, every single medication goes through rigorous testing for years before it even hits the market, especially when we're talking about psychotropic drugs.

But hey, if this whole thing is just some massive fabrication and a bunch of treacherous lies, then are these next points also just the delusions of a crazy person—aka, me?

- Insomnia that dragged on for four straight months

- Dropping about 25 pounds

- Suicidal ideation, total apathy, shame, and compulsive behaviors

- Completely withdrawing from the world

- Losing coordination, fine motor skills, and basic logical brain function

- Serotonin syndrome and a suicide attempt

- Ending up in the ER where some butcher basically stitches up my forearms without any anesthesia

- Staying in the psych ward surrounded by semi-conscious patients and nurses who are convinced some little girl cut herself just because of some boy or whatever else

- And then having a rapid recovery thanks to those very same meds you're being so condescendingly dismissive of?

Alright, I'm listening... I'd love to hear your take on that... ☕

Douglas Long10 said:Moving on from Zoloft, blah blah blah 😵

Look, it's not 😵, honestly. I went through the exact same thing when I tried to get off my Helix way too early. Your body just isn't ready for that jump yet, that's all there is to it. It's really not the end of the world. 😉

Edward Murphy4 said:😲😲 Am I seeing this right?!😕

well, if you say so... I guess I'm doing even better than that.🥳

Seriously though, I’m built different—my therapist actually told me she’s never seen anyone with my kind of resilience or how much psych meds I can handle without folding. She straight up said even the guys at the VA dealing with heavy PTSD stuff don't take Loquena like I do, and that's a direct quote! 🙂 😬

Kenneth Scott41 said:Are you actually directing that at me? I'm not even taking sertraline! Maybe try being a little more careful and realize that this is just a generic version of Lexapro. ☕

Oh, wow, so I guess all those glowing reviews you have for Zoloft are "solidly based" then. Look, doctors hand out Dormicum to patients just to knock them out before surgery, usually at half a pill, and if you're popping anxiolytics and hypnotics every single weekend like they're some kind of harmless candy, you really shouldn't be trying to convince anyone else that this is totally fine or normal. It’s not. It’s dangerous, especially when you're dealing with psychiatric conditions.☕🤮
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Heh, did he give you the heads-up about what Sertraline does to your drive and... well, everything else down there? You seem a little on edge lately, so I’m just hoping that isn't what's eating at you. ☕

Just take it slow, seriously, go super gradual. When I was tapering off my Effexor, I took my sweet time with it. My doctor actually told me I could just hack away at my dose—like, instead of taking two 37.5 mg pills, I could just cut them in half and call it a day—but I wasn't about to risk that. So, for the first week, I kept doing one 37.5 mg pill in the morning, then in the afternoon, I’d take the other one split down to 18.75 mg. I stuck to that routine for about two weeks before moving on.

Regarding the quoting thing, here's how you do it: :

Are you asking on your mother's behalf? Mine would be thrilled if I even asked. 😬 Besides, she's been asking for months when I'll stop taking them because they just make me gain weight 🙄 and sleep all day. 🙄

Heh, looks like we've got another one of "those" moms here 🧐 join the club! 🙂

Look, you know as well as I do that this isn't the answer; there’s no such thing as a magic happy pill.
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Look, you definitely don't need that crap in your life. I once crossed paths with this total amateur who nearly killed me, and then the creep actually tried to knock me out with enough sleeping pills to sink a ship. Honestly, my body just fights off meds like crazy. Back in the day, I was tossing around 5 mg of Xanax, 75 mg of Effexor, 600 mg of Seroquel, and 25 mg of Thorazine all at once, but now I've scaled it way down to just 37.5 mg of Effexor and 25 mg of Seroquel a day.

Psychotherapy, "self-work," whatever you want to call it? Honestly, I think that’s just a one-way ticket to becoming an addict. And don't even get me started on the meds—I wouldn't suggest getting used to them or popping them left and right without a plan. Your body just adapts, and before you know it, you're chasing higher doses just to feel normal. You aren't actually fixing the root cause of why you're feeling this way; if anything, you're just making everything ten times worse.
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Look, it’s not even about you personally, it’s just pure stupidity—I really wouldn't advise messing around with those anxiolytics for recreational kicks. I mean, they’re basically the same thing since they both rely on diazepam, and while the absorption process might hit you differently because of the fillers and inactive ingredients, that's hardly an excuse to go treating them like candy. ☕

Kenneth Scott41 said:I suppose I should probably address what was said by Roger Rodriguez.
Robert Collins2 As I was saying:
It seems like they just focus on aggressive marketing, peddling nothing but smoke and mirrors to patients who don't know any better. People end up falling for those massive, artificial hype cycles surrounding these overhyped, "celebrity" alternative practitioners who aren't actually worth the breath they use to promote themselves. 😉
Look, ladies, it’s pretty clear you've got some serious anger issues bubbling up right now, but I'd suggest taking it out on someone else—because you're definitely aiming that frustration at the wrong person here.
Enough is enough.

Maybe you should just give Sakoman a call directly and tell him off, or perhaps file a formal complaint. I really can't understand why he feels the need to constantly target me every single time his name even comes up in conversation.

Just because he was able to help me doesn't mean it won't be an issue for you. I suppose everyone's experience is different, after all.

Helped you? Yeah, right. He handed you a bottle of Prozac and called it a day. ☕The courts should be handing out subpoenas to patients being misled by all these lies about antidepressants.
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Chill out, man. Just because you've sat in a psychiatrist's office a couple of times doesn't mean you're suddenly some kind of genius, you troll. ☕ And don't you dare call me "this one."
To you, I'm Doctor.
