Alright, everyone, 😁 thanks so much for the input—I’m asking because, honestly, I have no idea what to expect since this will be my first time undergoing any kind of surgery. 😁 My main concern is whether my voice will sound completely normal afterward, or if there's a chance it might just... "disappear" for a little while. 🙂
I find myself wondering about a few specifics regarding the recovery process—specifically, if I’m cleared for surgery, what the dietary restrictions look like afterward? I mean, what am I actually allowed to eat or drink, and more importantly, what should I strictly avoid? It feels like such a delicate balance once you're under anesthesia. Also, I was curious about the typical timeline for staying in the hospital—how long does one usually remain under observation before being sent home?
So, I have a bit of a question regarding my throat... To be specific—and I apologize if this sounds a little graphic—there are times when I’ll cough up these tiny, yellowish-brown bits from my throat or mouth. The size varies quite a bit, but the real issue is that they carry an absolutely foul odor. I find myself wondering—is this actually a normal occurrence, and more importantly, what on earth am I dealing with here?

It seems pretty clear that your discomfort is tied to constipation—it’s one of those things where everything just... stalls. You might want to try tightening up your diet a bit; more yogurt, more fresh fruit, plenty of vegetables. And maybe steer clear of bananas for a while, as they can actually slow things down. If this keeps happening frequently, you should probably go see a doctor.
Melissa Phillips4 said:I had a similar experience myself... I was in pain for about two weeks—some kind of stomach flu, most likely. It reached a point where I couldn't sleep or even eat, because the moment I tried to swallow anything, the pain would just flare right back up. I didn't end up seeing a doctor, so...
Aha, well, having that specific detail certainly helps clarify things quite a bit. 🙂
Angela Wright said:If things don't start settling down, you really ought to head to the ER. Intense abdominal pain isn't something to just brush off—it could be a sign of serious issues, like internal bleeding, an ectopic pregnancy, or even a bowel obstruction.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention... I haven't seen any blood in my stool. I suppose that's usually the red flag for intestinal trouble, isn't it? But since there's no blood, does that mean I can skip the doctor? And actually, if I do need one, which specialist should I be looking for to get my GI tract checked out? Any recommendations?
Rebecca Lee said:well, it’s certainly a plausible explanation—it really is. perhaps you might consider focusing a bit more on your dietary habits first, just to see if you can manage a regular bowel movement through nutrition alone before jumping to anything else.
Everything has finally settled down—I managed to go to the bathroom just now, and the pain has subsided, thank goodness... though there is still that lingering, uncomfortable sensation afterward...
So, this morning my little girl woke up with some pretty intense abdominal and stomach pain... and I can't help but wonder if it’s all connected to the fact that she hasn't had a real bowel movement in three days. Is it actually possible for that kind of constipation to feel like you're being torn apart from the inside? It sounds a bit dramatic—perhaps—but the discomfort seems quite genuine. If anyone here has dealt with something similar and managed to find some relief, I would truly appreciate your insight. Just a side note: we won't be heading to see any doctor or visiting a clinic like Mayo Clinic just yet—we need to get her symptoms stabilized first, and even that part is still a work in progress.
Melissa James70 said:Oh, really? Sure. And I suppose if you sneeze three times in a row, that’s the end of you too.🙄
Could we please spare everyone the sarcasm? If you truly believe you're facing some existential crisis, perhaps a visit to a physician is in order—though I suppose that would involve actual expertise. It is quite a leap of logic to assume that an internet forum is a more reliable source of medical wisdom than a doctor who deals with these issues daily—clearly, the consensus here is far superior to anything taught in med school.
p.s. What you're actually feeling is just post-nasal drip—mucus draining from your sinuses down into your throat—which is why it feels so hard to clear.
There is always one person ready to drop a gem like that... 😢 Look, I am just asking a question, so what? I am not heading to the doctor because my insurance coverage is a bit tight right now...😢 🙄
Drew Cook5 said:If it’s just a common cold, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it... personally, when I was dealing with a nasty cough recently, I relied on some honey and propolis syrup—the kind designed to thin out mucus and get everything moving along. It did the trick for me, though, of course, everyone reacts differently to medications or supplements, so what works for one person might not work for another.
I think I'll stick with the tablets first—if they don't cut it, then I'll give the syrup a shot. :P👍
Drew Cook5 said:Is this just appearing out of thin air? I mean, there’s always a reason—are you smoking, or perhaps it's just some lingering effect from a cold?
I don't smoke—it was a cold... I stopped by a local CVS... the young pharmacist there gave me some Bill Gates to dissolve... though, if I may be so bold, it isn't quite that "slimy" sensation, more like a slightly thicker saliva, if you catch my drift. ^^
So, I’ve been dealing with this persistent issue lately... it’s quite bothersome because I can’t seem to spit it out—I just end up swallowing it instead. This "mucus" is clear and sort of slimy in texture... has anyone else dealt with something similar who might be able to offer some guidance? I’m honestly at a bit of a loss here regarding what steps to take... I even heard some rather alarming rumors about how serious this could be, which isn't helping my peace of mind. It just feels constantly lodged in my throat, and I can't see any other way to resolve this sensation.😢
So, I’ve finally pieced together what was actually going on... I started my period today, which explains why I’ve been feeling so incredibly chilled to the bone
