Dealing with Neurodermatitis in Health ·
rowdydriver11 said:Vaseline, always and forever... you can grab a tub at Walgreens for like $3.00... I deal with the exact same thing all year round, where I get those annoying little flakes all along the edges of my lips and stuff...

Thanks so much for the help!! I went to Walgreens yesterday, there are two in my town, but they were out of stock, so I'll hit the other one on Monday... I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it helps. 🙂 Usually, what works best for me is just a basic dark blue Chapstick 😲 overnight and things get way better...

PS—recently, a post from a girl on this forum from about six months ago actually helped me through a rough patch. She mentioned having the exact same lip issues and turned out to be allergic to nail polish 😲!!! I didn't think much of it, but since I stopped wearing it (I've been using clear polish almost constantly for the last week), the improvement is unbelievable! Maybe more expensive brands like Maybelline, Nivea, or Victoria's Secret don't include them, but this cheap stuff I got at Walgreens had two ingredients I looked up online that I want to warn everyone about—TOLUENE and BUTYL BENZYL PHTHALATE! These phthalates are really bad for your skin. If you remember those Chinese toys the media called "killer toys," they contained all sorts of phthalates...

Thanks again!!!
Dealing with Neurodermatitis in Health ·
Hey everyone, I found myself scrolling through these threads and figured I’d share my experience with neurodermatitis. I’ve dealt with this since birth. My mom practically lived to save me when I was little; she tried everything, keeping the house spotless 24/7 because dust just makes it worse. After seeing a hundred different doctors, I eventually found my own remedy—oak bark from a local pharmacy. You soak it in water for about six hours, boil it, and then apply the bark-soaked cotton to the eczema patches.
It’s a tough battle against this kind of skin condition triggered by neurological issues.
I’m 21 now, and unlike when I was a baby, things are actually pretty good. Like someone else mentioned earlier, the creases of my arms and legs were always the worst spots for me, but I haven't had major issues in at least ten years. Some doctors claim you can outgrow neurodermatitis if you've had it since childhood. Of course, the biggest trigger for a flare-up is stress... ugh. But right now, I have a specific problem I don't know how to fix.
For the last two years, I've been struggling with extremely dry skin around my mouth. As soon as winter hits and the weather turns cold, my lips start begging for ointment or Chapstick. Lately, it’s gotten so bad it's driving me crazy. The area around my mouth is red, and I can barely move my lips properly—it feels like I've lost half my mobility, if you know what I mean. I’m asking for advice if anyone has dealt with something similar, because I think it’s part of my neurodermatitis. I've tried every cream under the sun... I can't even remember all the names. Everything from CeraVe to basic ointments, Chapstick, various herbal rinses before bed, balms, you name it. Help!! 😢

Sandra Martin72, thanks for the correction! Like you said, nothing is ever a sure thing. I haven't seen or heard anything about it only covering four virus types before. I’m definitely not an expert on HPV, but I noticed nobody was really answering Jordan's call for help here... :P The truth is, there just isn't enough coverage on this virus or the disease in general. It should be everywhere—news, TV, the internet, radio—and even taught in middle school biology classes. Kids are getting active much earlier now without being informed about the risks. Personally, I didn't get vaccinated. I thought about it, but then I heard something that really shook me, which I'll pass along to Jordan: a friend of mine has a mother who works at the Department of Health. She wanted to vaccinate her daughter against HPV at 16, but she backed off immediately after hearing about the potential consequences. In the worst cases, we're talking about paralysis (I'm not sure of the exact percentage), not to mention chronic headaches and fatigue. I don't think those are just rumors; I believe they're real, so my conclusion is that there's simply no benefit to the shot... 😢 Regular checkups and testing are the only way to go. Cheers!
Chapped lips/dry skin around mouth help? in Health ·
Hey! I deal with the exact same lip cracking issues every single winter. 😢 I know how miserable it feels. Like I mentioned before, try using some honey; it works overnight. You can just grab a small jar to toss in your bag, though it isn’t really meant for long-term use. It’s a bit like an antibiotic—your skin eventually gets used to it, so you shouldn't rely on it forever. Right now, I’m using this great herbal balm called Olival. You can pick it up at a CVS for about five bucks, and the container is huge compared to that honey stuff. It lasts forever and works wonders. 👍
Why are my hands always freezing? in Health ·
hey 🙂 I’m dealing with the exact same thing... my hands are constantly freezing. Everyone gives me the same old advice—just stay warm 24/7 😂 ... I honestly have no clue how to fix it. People suggested washing my hands more often, and sure, if I do daily exercises, it helps for a bit. But as soon as I sit down to watch TV or start studying, I'm right back to square one. Nothing works. The only "solution" people suggest is getting lucky 😁

Hi wanderinglynx4!
Here's my take. From what I've heard about this vaccine and from chatting with friends, the total cost for the full series (three doses, like you mentioned) comes to $1167... though those might be old numbers, so things could have changed $1000. As for whether it's specific to certain areas in Washington, D.C., I'm skeptical (even if D.C. does have its own perks when it comes to things like public transit), but it's possible... maybe try digging around online for more info. Regarding the price itself, it feels high, obviously, but we're talking about health here. HPV is manageable, but if the virus progresses, the medical bills and checkups can easily run into thousands of dollars. So, I think $1000 is actually quite reasonable if the shot provides lifelong peace of mind regarding these health issues—not to mention the relief of not constantly worrying about cervical cancer. Personally, I'm starting to consider the vaccine, even though I'm still pretty young.
