Emotional Intelligence: A blessing or a curse?

I just can't wrap my head around someone calling something as vital as emotional intelligence "manipulative"...
It’s honestly pretty ignorant and, frankly, not very bright...
Actually, nobody called it anything of the sort—you might want to double-check what you're reading.
People who rely on those kinds of tricks usually lack both high IQ and EQ...
Emotional Intelligence: A blessing or a curse?

Douglas Brown4 said:What you have is called INTELLIGENCE.
As for what you're asking about—that thing called "emotional intelligence"—it is a bit like the Mormons in the USA:
Americans are so frustrated by the fact that they don't have an indigenous religion that they had to go ahead and invent one.
It's the same with foolish people. They want to be intelligent too. Various managers, scammers, bar owners... they all possess a very low form of intelligence known as PEASANT CUNNING.
Well, in modern times, with these trends where everyone wants to feel special—even though most people can't move an inch away from their herd—they invented the concept of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and stuffed their own CUNNING into it.
Basically, they pitted it against actual INTELLIGENCE and started claiming it is vaznij. So, the EQ of some dart player in a pub, or someone like Franc Ozbolt or Cinober, is supposedly more important than the IQ of Albert Einstein.
And I guess it will stay that way as long as American managers keep writing their life essays instead of focusing on what they actually know how to do: stealing.
'Gosh, I was struggling so hard to find the right word for this phenomenon, and then boom—there it is! What a perfect way to put it! Thank you, truly!
Yeah, I've always wondered why certain people—people who clearly lack any real cognitive depth—can't grasp basic concepts, yet possess this uncanny, highly developed ability to use dirty little tricks to screw others over for their own gain. I suppose it's just evolutionary conditioning, isn't it? If you can't win with actual intelligence, you fall back on "rustic cunning"... or, as my friend would say, when God closes one door, He opens a window. But unfortunately, it feels like most people are just opening windows to sneakily grab whatever they can through sheer craftiness rather than being genuinely bright...

Sophia Allen12 said:Sure, insulin might be synthetic these days, but for decades it was harvested from pigs. And hey, even if you move past insulin, there are still countless medications being tested on animals—drugs derived directly from animal sources...
And when it comes to who's actually being exhausting here—it’s definitely you guys! Honestly, it feels like you'd be just as pushy if people were cannibals or wild boars, I really couldn't care less... but you’re always right there, lecturing everyone about what they should eat, how gross meat is, acting all threatened, organizing protests and whatnot...
just chill out
😕
Who's the one constantly preaching here, you or me? Look, regarding insulin... 🙄 But I don't even have an answer for you. Why don't you go worry about something more intelligent than what's on someone else's plate, and leave me alone with those paranoid stories about how "you're forcing things on me because I didn't order meat at the restaurant, so now I'm offended"... It's just such petty, small-minded behavior, honestly, a total disaster... 👎

It’s actually the exact same deal with the Brontosaurus—their brains were just way too tiny compared to the sheer scale of their bodies. To stop them from basically going extinct because they weren't smart enough to look after themselves, nature pulled off this absolutely brilliant little workaround... it expanded the spinal cord right at the base of the back to take over some of those brain functions. There are definitely some parallels there... 😁

Even a lion might take out a mountain lion cub if the situation calls for it, even though it's definitely not their usual go-to meal...

But wait—did YOU shove him into that cage? And did YOU build that rifle? Huh? Well?
That’s honestly the most ridiculous part about human evolution—how all this mindless clutter just latched onto the actual creators, and now everyone's walking around acting all high and mighty over achievements they didn't even earn...

houseneder said:Do you happen to have any data regarding emotional intelligence?😎
Yeah, exactly—it's that whole thing where you try to tell someone, "Hey, just step into their shoes for a second and see things from their perspective," and then they just stare at you with absolutely nothing behind their eyes... I honestly think if we tried to run a brain scan on some of these folks, the equipment would probably just short-circuit—their internal "processor" is way too weak to handle that kind of complex processing...

Who says you couldn't catch a lion or a monkey?
Just head out into their natural habitats—maybe somewhere deep in the Everglades or a jungle in Florida—and try to race them... I'll be praying for your safety! Please, do post your results when you get back... you might actually convince me if you pull it off...

Eric Patel21 said:Well, it really just comes down to the fact that a lion isn't exactly going to be hanging out in the same spots an elephant does... they just have totally different lifestyles, you know? 😉 So, you know how tigers work... like, if they’re out in the wild and a whole pride is hungry at once, they might actually go after an elephant... it's pretty wild to think about, really... 😉 So, what are you actually getting at here—that a male lion isn't any smarter than a female? I mean, look at the reality of it... he’s not even out there doing the actual hunting most of the time! He just hangs around waiting for her to do all the hard work, and then, once she finally bags the kill, he swoops in to claim it all for himself. If you ask me, that sounds like a pretty clever way to play the game, doesn't it?...
Lions live in the exact same habitats as elephants—I’ve honestly never even heard of this whole thing with tigers... Sure, elephant calves are definitely at risk, but it's pretty widely known that greedy predators don't really go after elephants. It's written right there in the books... loot....

| If that grandma were a guy, he’d probably be going by Duško... 😕 |
There’s an old saying that really sticks with me—it’s basically like saying what makes Grandma happy is exactly what makes the little guy feel like royalty... it's all about that special kind of comfort, you know? It’s funny how those little things work... how someone can be perfectly content just because they're being treated with a bit of extra sweetness... turns out, a little bit of indulgence goes a long way for everyone involved...So—is this conversation finally up to your standards now? Is it actually hitting the right note for you...

I mean, sure—or maybe if nature had just decided to be a little more "intelligent," it would have given her massive paws and razor-sharp teeth, and she’d probably be weighing an extra hundred pounds or so... Honestly, what a load of nonsense, I'm telling you...

Maria Moore4 said:Ahem... look, this thread is supposed to be about whether "VEGETARIANS ARE MORE INTELLIGENT." A few months back, some artist had her van torched just because she put a hex on a chicken. 🙂
Actually, that van didn't even belong to Delmar—it belonged to the theater where she was performing.
The theater director himself mentioned he actually doubts PETA had anything to do with it; he thinks someone just took advantage of all the hype surrounding the situation to pin the blame on them.
You really need to read the articles more closely...

Thomas Stewart97 said:Oh, hush now, lady.
If you were a man, your IQ would probably be about two points higher...
But since you aren't, well, you're just a bit scatterbrained.
And if you were some kind of cannibal, you'd be completely brainless.
You’d basically only be able to communicate using phrases like 'I eat'; 'I sleep'; 'I wash'; 'I have kids'...
Why is it that women seem so much less intelligent than men?
What's the actual connection there?
Is it diet?
Is it genetics?
Is it how they use—or don't use—their brains?
Or is it just because they don't really need intelligence?
What's the deal?
Unfortunately, it seems like the world prefers women to keep their intellect tucked away. As soon as a woman shows even a hint of brilliance—well, everyone starts seeing her as a threat, doesn't it? Both men and women (specifically the ones who can't keep up with the guys)...
An intelligent man? Is that something you can eat? Never heard of it...

Eric Patel21 said:I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but isn't it true that predators in the wild are actually smarter than herbivores? I mean, how is a lion ever going to catch a gazelle if she's outsmarting him every single time?😕
Well, maybe a gazelle would catch a lion if she actually ate meat—but she doesn't... she just eats grass. Meanwhile, a lion targets the slowest or weakest member of the herd, which is really just nature's way of performing natural selection—it’s actually doing the whole herd a favor, in a way. Besides, females do most of the hunting in lion prides, so if we're following this logic, we could easily pivot this toward the whole "men being intelligent" debate and have a much more interesting discussion there...
And honestly, if lions were as brilliant as you claim, why wouldn't they just hunt an elephant? You guys are talking total nonsense.

Disperadun said:Like, say you have a sugar rush today but actually need insulin? Do you even know how pharmaceutical companies produce it?
It's synthetic—mostly because it’s cheaper for them. I did a little digging myself (not that I personally need it, knock on wood)...
Honestly, I feel like there are some really silly prejudices floating around regarding vegetarians and diet in general... and then people go and act out—if you ask people WHY they are vegetarian, why do you feel so threatened or attacked when you get an answer? People ask me why I don't eat meat when they see my plate is empty, or when I turn down an offer, and then they start whining that I'm "imposing" my views on them just because I gave a straight answer!! 😕 I mean, what's your deal? That level of xenophobia isn't exactly healthy... Nobody is stopping you from eating meat, but if you're the one asking for an explanation, don't get defensive if you don't like what you hear. It's OUR life, and OUR decision.
And just to clarify my take on the plant vs. animal thing—I personally view animals as organisms much closer to me than plants are... which, honestly, feels a bit like borderline cannibalism. OF COURSE (!!!), that is strictly MY opinion and I'm not calling anyone else a cannibal—this is EXCLUSIVELY how I see things, just so we don't start a huge uproar here...
Even with plants, certain parts are basically designed to be eaten—especially fruits and seeds—so that animals can spread them over wider areas through their waste. In some cases (just some, mind you!), the plant doesn't even die—if I eat an apple, I haven't killed the tree. It would eventually rot and fall anyway to release the seeds. It's actually better if an animal comes along and eats it, since they'll spread those undigested seeds further afield.
As for this whole "witch hunt" vibe, it reminds me of the hostility toward people with homosexual orientations—it's like those old-fashioned small-town busybodies who gossip and stick their noses where they don't belong... in this case, sticking their noses in someone else's plate or bed. You guys are exhausting... eat whatever you want, who's stopping you? Seriously, find a hobby that's more productive than obsessing over everyone else's dietary habits.

I honestly feel like we’re all just born a little bit wicked—I mean, if you really sit back and observe kids, they are incredibly selfish and self-centered from day one. It’s only through that whole "carrot and stick" style of parenting that they actually learn what's expected of them, right? They have to be taught how to function within a community where other people have needs that might not always align with their own whims. Though, I have to admit, even with the best upbringing, some people just never seem to get it...
