wearybison35 said:AST and ALT are enzymes that, when elevated, suggest some level of liver cell irritation, though they aren't strictly exclusive to the liver.
These levels don't seem particularly alarming to me, and honestly, there could be a million different reasons for them. Have you been taking any medications lately?

Potassium levels can sometimes be linked to physical activity, like if you've dealt with any muscle strain. It would probably be wise to keep an eye on it, but if your creatinine and urea look fine, I doubt anything serious is going on.

As for that MCHC, I wouldn't worry about it; it's practically normal.

Thanks for the reply 🙂

I took some Advil 400 mg yesterday; I wonder, could that be what caused the AST and ALT to go up?
I just got my blood work back, and I was wondering if someone could help me make sense of it? My aspartate aminotransferase is a bit high at 37, while my alanine aminotransferase is right on the upper limit at 36.
Also, my potassium is elevated at 5.4—I guess you wonder if that might be linked to physical activity? Additionally, my mean hemoglobin concentration came back at 353.
Thanks so much in advance!
Super dry hands and palms - any advice? in Health ·
I feel like I’m dealing with the exact same issue. I honestly don't think there’s a cream out there I haven't tried at least once, but as soon as the cold wind starts blowing and everything dries out, I'm right back to square one. I have noticed a bit more of a difference lately, though, since I started using that new Neutrogena fast-absorbing formula. My hands actually feel soft now, and they aren't cracking nearly as much as they used to.
It might not be a bad idea to apply some Bepanthen over your existing cracks at night before bed.

Hey everyone, I could really use some recommendations! Does anyone have phone numbers for local caterers (besides Arcadian, since I already have them) or addresses for bakeries? I’m looking for somewhere that does great classic American desserts, maybe something like a local bakery or a specialty shop... Also, is the catering price including pizza usually around $20, or is Arcadian more expensive or cheaper than the other options?
Thanks so much! 😍

For an American dessert, try the place right by the corner of Kerum's shop in the hills.
casualranger3 said:Who did you guys order the desserts from for the banquet? I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra right now if they actually taste good.

Betty Crocker (Hill)

But how many pounds of sweets should I actually order?🤷

Well, I honestly can't say for sure in terms of weight, but maybe about one pound for every ten people?

Anonymous said:I was actually thinking about ordering from somewhere like Bobis or maybe down in the Mississippi Delta... I assume they all offer delivery, but I’m just not sure how much I should get.
I know back in Honeycomb you could grab a combo deal that included their pies, so that's why I mentioned getting the meal without the dessert.🤷

I believe most of those places provide delivery services, so you probably don't need to worry about that part too much.
Generally speaking, hotels tend to include desserts in their menus since they have the facilities on-site to make them, which makes it quite profitable for them. It's pretty rare to find standalone bakeries or restaurants doing that, at least around here in the States.

When it comes to cakes, you should probably plan on one cake serving about 20 people. So, for a crowd of 200, I’d suggest aiming for 10 cakes if you're going with something like a croquant; however, if you opt for a traditional wedding cake, maybe 2 or 3 fewer would suffice. If you're thinking about serving extra sweets later on, you might want to account for one additional cake just to be safe.
I’d also suggest looking into the Mississippi Delta, at least regarding their decorations. I haven't personally tried them, but I imagine the flavors are somewhat similar—there's just nothing quite like homemade, I suppose.
The closest local option would be an American Pie. They are located up in the hills, right near that famous first Kerum shop (at least, that's how it was explained to me! :-). Generally speaking, the women there make absolutely wonderful cakes and wedding treats.

wanderingtrucker19 said:Ladies, I could use some advice... has anyone ever pulled off a wedding like this:
- intimate (maybe 15-20 close family and friends; followed by a massive blowout party for everyone else a few days later)
- fall vibes (mid-October)
- coastal (somewhere along the coast between San Diego and Savannah)

My biggest worry is the weather—I know October was gorgeous last year, but I can't exactly bank on Mother Nature being that kind again. Also, if anyone has restaurant recommendations near the water, I'm all ears...

My partner is from that area and we'll likely be moving there permanently, so I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to local spots for a small wedding... Any help would be appreciated.

🙂

Having an outdoor wedding sounds wonderful, but if I may offer a little advice, I'd always suggest having a backup indoor option ready. You just can't be too sure with the weather; I mean, who would have thought the first day of summer would turn out to be so rainy?
fadedbadger35 said:honestly, wouldn't it be better if they just had one lead singer instead of all this noise

Tereza Kusanovic used to sing with that local choir group back in the day.
briskdriver18 said:Hey everyone, I could really use a hand here. I’ve got pretty much everything lined up for my private party, but I’m hitting a wall with the band situation. Even though I technically have one booked, I’m just not feeling it—the vibe isn't right, you know? So, if any of you guys have the time or interest to help me vet some options, I’d really appreciate it. I’m based out of San Francisco, so if you know any killer bands in the area that can actually deliver, please let me know. We’re looking at a crowd of about 320 people, so they need to be able to handle a decent-sized room. Thanks in advance!

In addition to the ones already mentioned, I’d definitely suggest Milan—they’re quite popular! Also, I think it might be a great idea to go with a female vocalist; a girl singing always sounds absolutely perfect!!

I recently had the chance to catch a set by Jadrana. It’s actually just two guys, though I suppose they might bring in a female vocalist if the occasion calls for it.
To me, they seemed perfectly fine. Besides the usual crowd-pleasers, they played some classic rock hits—stuff like Led Zeppelin or maybe some classic Americana tracks... although, I guess it all depends on what the wedding party wants. Overall, they seem like a solid choice.

Just one more little thing I'm calculating :-))

Regarding the accordion players, from what I've gathered, everything seems to hover around the $200 mark, especially if they're bringing a guitar along too.

Maybe we should try giving him a bit of advice? 🙂

redviper17 said:Well, thanks for the well-meaning advice; but honestly, what can I say? We're dealing with some pretty complex high-level math here, and you're trying to teach us how to add two plus two! 🤷

I honestly feel the same way, which is why I keep saying we should be sharing more useful, detailed info. Let's skip the stuff about following tradition—everyone knows that already. It's like me knowing how to put on a sundress, but still wanting the clerk at Target to walk me through exactly how to wear a wedding gown, if you know what I mean, Taylor Kelly3?
Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
Taylor Kelly3, I really appreciate your intentions here, but I think your answers might be a bit too broad. It would probably be more helpful to give those girls some concrete, actionable advice instead. For instance:
- Always listen to a band before booking them; you can't just rely on a recommendation alone (on that point, we are 100% in agreement)
- Make sure there is a clear plan for the flow of the evening—things like whether there will be an anthem, a prayer, or a first dance, and if parents or the wedding party are being called up to dance. Don't forget to ask about the cake, the bouquet toss, or even things like garter tosses.
- Try not to insist on those long 15-minute breaks. If you do, your guests will end up hungry, but you definitely shouldn't allow the music to stop for an hour or more either, because by then everyone has already finished eating and they'll start getting bored.
- Clarify whether there will be any organized song requests or letters sent to the couple...
I’m sure there is plenty more you could contribute better than I can, so please, keep it coming!

Do you think it might be Gastra?

Thanks 😍

Maybe check out places like Nordstrom, Banana Republic, or even Hugo Boss... there should be plenty of options.

I suppose I'll have to see, but I only just spotted this yesterday... plus, there should still be plenty of time for the cake. I'm hoping we can get it done about fifteen days before the big party, at least.🙂

I’ve actually thought about trying a cake without a support stand before, but I suppose it just couldn't be that large.
Personally, I really like the look of the stand—it reminds me a bit of a sail. I guess the gold finish is a little much for my taste, though. Then again, I doubt any cake I made would look quite this fancy anyway.
